Internet Explorer 8 Addons to work in IE11 Enterprise Mode ?
As my subject is, will old IE8 addons (that didn't work in IE9-10) work in IE11 with Enterprise Mode?
We have a supplier who req an addon to be installed in IE to be able to use their webportal.
Sadly this crappy addon hasnt beeen updated since IE8.
They promised an update later this year that should work with newer versions of IE, but when and how we dont know.
Of course you cant tell me if it will work with this specific webportal and addon, but I was thinking if IE11 would support old addons in general?
Thanks :)
Can't roll backfrom IE 11 to IE 8 in Windows 7 sp1
Trusted Zone asks users to open PDF file
Hello,
When a site is in the Intranet Zone and a user clicks on a PDF link, then the PDF file will just open without asking to Open/Download the file.
How can i get the same feature from a site that is in the Trusted Zone. I have tried to compare what settings is being applied in both zones but have not been able to find the one triggering that open/download dialog.
If you reset the Custom Level of the Trusted Zone to Medium-Low then you get the right behavior with no prompts when clicking PDF file in that zone.
How do I configure or write PAC file by which users does not have to change proxy options
Hey Folks,
may be this might sound basic question pertaining to PAC but at my office I have most of the users are using Laptops and I am currently feeding proxy address manually. This creates a problem when user carries their laptop to home and they will have keep changing the proxy setting.
Again sinc we are growing in future this might not be an feasible as well as correct option hence I m looking for an PAC file option. But wondering what setting do I need follow so that users does not have change their Proxy or PAC file setting. At office the traffic will be rerouted to office proxy address and at home they will be routed to their local internet.
Is it possible?
Window8.1 - Internet Explorer 11
When I was on Windows 7 and IE11 and using OWA I was able to download S/mime so I can insert images into the email. Now with Windows 8.1m I can not download S/mime and does not allow me to insert images into mail. Now, even when I answer mail that contains embedded images, the images no longer shows up and just gives a reference to the image.
I have tried using solutions from the Microsoft Community and nothing works
Thanks

IE9 Ignoring AlwaysUseDefaultPrinter
Hi,
I have a custom built web application that was working perfectly under IE8. Since installing IE9 however one piece of the application is now broken. The application needs to realize that the windows default printer has changed. By default if you change the default printer with IE open, it doesn't realize that it has changed and wants to print to the printer that was default when it was opened. There is some documentation from microsoft with a fix for this issue. The fix was to add a registry key "AlwaysUseDefaultPrinter", and it corrected the problem in IE8 so that when printing from IE, it would select the default printer first even if it had been changed. Since installing IE9 however, this has seemed to have broken. IE9 doesn't seem to realize that registry key and wants to still print to the printer that was originally the default when it was opened.
I need a way to get IE9 to realize that the default printer has changed without having to close and re-open the browser. Any help?
Disabled
I stupidly, disabled all my "start up" boxes. when I did that, nothing else works. The audio is down, the Windows 7 nice little world with the Microsoft logo is gone and now all it says is "START" Did I really mess things
up? I went back into the msconfig menu and clicked on startup, checked all disabled boxes and clicked "enable" but nothing is working. Can you help me? I even tried to use "system restore" and it says it is not working
or got error message. Yikes! Help!
Thanks
Barbara

I tried reinstalling and that didn't work. Then I tried uninstalling and installing with a downloaded version of IE but that wouldn't work is said that there was a newer version installed. I tried the Microsoft FixIt and that also didn't work. Disabling the plug-ins same story. I cant boot into safe mode since I'm remotely managing the computer. Is there anything else I can try except for a repair install of windows?
Thanks in advance!
Niels

IE11 and SharePoint not compatible
The calendar on SharePoint sites is not displaying properly in Internet Explorer.
It was fine until today. Yesterday it looked the same as it always has, but today it looks completely different and there are no events displayed. It is stripped of all design and features, almost like the script that runs the calendar is being blocked.
The calendar displays perfectly sin other browsers. Chrome, Firefox, etc.
The problem is just in IE, and just started happening today.

IE 11 - unable to save favorites/permissions missing
Hi Folks,
Apologies in advance as I could not find anywhere to post this.
Have just updated to Server 2012 R2 Update 1 and find that IE 11 cannot save/import/modify any favourites - it appears to not have any permissions. When I start IE 11 it defaults to the URL res://iesetup.dll/softadmin.html and does not appear to be able to get past this.
I've had this issue before but cannot remember how to fix it - from memory it involved resetting some permissions but I cannot remember which ones.
Does anyone know how to get around this?
Note: As an update, I have IE pinned to the task bar - when I run this I get the 'Open file - security warning' for the link "quick launch\user pinned\taskbar\internet explorer.lnk".
Also the start menu now only contains the ICON for the metro app, not the desktop app. So I also need to work out how to replace this.

IE 8, 9 GPP Proxy Automatically detect Settings
When I create a profile for IE8/9 in GPP it does not give the option to select 'Automatically Detect Settings' on the LAN settings page. Is there a reason & how can I select this setting if its not available in GPP?
If I create an IE10 Profile it does allow this setting to be configured.

I developed solution for 9C59 error on installation of IE10 and IE11
When I had tried to do the command line uninstall of IE9 as well as the normal uninstallation I was getting errors that it couldn't uninstall the updates for IE9 because of a corrupted store.
Doing the normal shut down Windows Update/renaming/deleting of the Download folder contents of the Software Distribution folder to get rid of corruption did not resolve the problem.
That is when I first attempted to start uninstalling the IE9 updates individually and it worked, I now have IE11 installed.
This solution works for me <big smile>

I uninstalled all of these updates that were for IE9
from Control Panel/ Programs and Features/ View Installed Updates
Each one requires a restart.

Checked for updates, installed all updates checked, restarted.
Checked for updates, IE11 installed fine this time.
I had been having the 9C59 error since IE10 was released.
I had tried every option I could find to resolve the problem and none of them worked.
