Windows 8.1, IE 11 and SharePoint Online

$

I have windows 8.1 and can not get "Form Settings" in SharePoint to work. It tells me "Internet Explorer is required to use this feature.", but I am using IE. I did not have this issue on my windows 7 box at work but on my laptop I can not get IE 11 to work correctly. From my understanding there is no way to roll back to IE 10 on Windows 8.1. So my question, is there a workaround for this issue or am I just out of luck that MS products that should work together do not. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

flickr.com crashes IE10

IE 10 (Modern or desktop) on my Win8ProMediaCenter-64 laptop is crashing every time I browse to flickr.com. If I get a chance to force compatibility mode before it crashes, when it restarts, it can open flickr.com. Machine is current with all patches. Have tried flushing IE cache and running IE in Safe Mode. Neither changed situation. Have another machine (a desktop Win8ProMediaCenter-64 also current with all patches) that works fine with flickr.com. Don't see issues with IE on other sites on the laptop. Writing this with IE 10 desktop from that laptop right now.

Any suggestions how to resolve this short of something truly invasive like creating a new user profile?

Internet Explorer 11 Bad Request 400

I have looked at all the help online for this issue and I've tried them. However, it's not fixing the issue. I can only open up google, but if I go to any other site it always says bad request. How do I fix this?

IE11, TPL (Tracking Protection List) not blocking XMLHttpRequest

It seems TPL doesn't block requests when the initiator is

  • XMLHttpRequest
  • CSS, e.g.  background-image: url(<some url here>)
  • Flash

Can anyone confirm that (or the opposite)? I've tried writing all sorts of filters in the TPL list, and verified by viewing my TPL in IE11 that the filter rules are well formed.

I'm using IE11 build 11.0.9600  (Windows 8.1). Is there a way to post the above as a suggestion to the IE dev team?

Internet Explorer display blank page

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.

Printing from IE10 stopped after has worked for a long time. Update to IE11 didn't help. No output to the spooler. Preview is ok.
If spooler is stopped, no preview is seen. Same problem for all printers, even PDF-printers. Only printdriver that works are XPS documet writer.

Microsoft.NET\Framework\vx.x\CONFIG\Browsers\ie.browser file configuration of ASP.NET with IE 11

What do I need to change the "userAgent match=" to in order to detect the new user-agent format for IE 11?

Are there needed changes for .NET 2.0? I know Microsoft does not support updates in this version for the ie.browser files.

Now that the MSIE keyword has been removed in IE 11 it appears that the capability settings will be broken for IE 11.

"SCRIPT5: Access is denied" error when accessing web sites using LocalStorage

$

We are having an issue with Internet Explorer 10 affecting users on a number of our Windows 8 workstations. When a user visits a web site that uses the Local Storage feature of HTML5, the page is not displayed correctly. For example, if you visit this page:

http://jsfiddle.net/xFtQR/

You should see text in the grey boxes in the lower-right hand corner if everything is working. For the affected users, nothing is displayed. In addition, if you open the F12 Developer Tools and reload the page, the following error message is displayed: "SCRIPT5: Access is denied.". It appears the LocalStorage feature is broken for these users.

From the troubleshooting I've done so far, I've determined that this issue does not affect the Local Administrator account on these computers, but it does affect any domain user and any new local user I create, whether the local user is in the Administrators group or not. This leads me to believe the issue may be related to the default user profile in the image that was applied to these computers.

Other observations:

  • Performing a complete reset of Internet Explorer settings (from Tools > Internet Options... > Advanced) does not resolve the issue
  • These sites do work correctly after turning off Protected Mode for the Internet Zone (from Tools > Internet Options... > Security)
  • These sites also work correctly when InPrivate Browsing is turned on

I've tried using Process Monitor to determine whether access is being blocked to a folder. On a working computer, iexplore.exe creates a file within a folder at C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStore. I can't see anything on an affected computer that would prevent IE from creating this folder, as the security settings on the folder all appear to be correct.

The location of this folder appears to be stored in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\LowCache\Extensible Cache\DOMStore. I've tried copying this key from a working computer and blanking it out entirely to have IE recreate it, but neither resolved the issue. I've even gone as far as to try and compare an export of the registry from the default user profile from a working system and an affected system but I haven't been able to pinpoint any differences which I thought might be relevant.

I've tried the "Internet Explorer Performance" and "Internet Explorer Safety" troubleshooters in the Control Panel.

Here are some links to articles on other sites which make reference to the same (or a similar) issue:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie10-windows_7/ie10-script5-access-is-denied/e87bdb30-7f2a-4510-bfa3-a22b995f777b
http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/357825-ie10-script5-access-is-denied
https://github.com/meteor/meteor/issues/1291

Unlike these other cases, deleting an affected user's profile does not resolve the issue (further bolstering my theory that the issue is due to an issue in the default profile in my case).

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide!

Internet Explorer Royally breaks compatibility with many websites and more laughably some that rely on forefront. I have noticed that even when I add websites to compatibility mode and some work, closing and re-opening the software removes them from the list. Are there plans to address this?

Is there a way to at least get Internet Explorer 11 to impersonate 10 (apart from the F12 user agent option) consistently?

IE table rendering issues. Any ideas how to eliminate extra cell spacing rendered by IE

$

I have a problem with IE 9 rendering a table. This particular page has a larger table rendered for an application.

    1. I have disabled all CSS on the site (its strictly in the table render on the site)

    2. Removed as much spacing as possible in the RAZOR view of the application to try to eliminate whitespace issue in code

    3. Ensured that there are no extra characters in the text (from the DB) so stripping out anything that is non alphanumeric.

When IE renders this site note that there is not any extra table elemnents missing there are closing tags on all elements and no syntatical issues.

I have seen other sites with this issue in IE 9 on Windows 7.

A table is not ideal here but that is how it was written.

(Since I don't see an e-mail or anything to verify my account here is a "non-link" to my screenshot of an example)

i.imgur.com/av8FCZL.png

Does anyone know how to solve this issue in IE? Also is a side by side of other browser results.

Preventing unnecessary login prompts when downloading Office documents (Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir on Apache webserver)

$

We have recently implemented kerberos authentication on our Apache webserver. The server hosts a number of document formats including MS Office documents.

XP users with Internet Explorer can download Office documents without problems. However, Vista users with Internet Explorer are prompted for login credentials multiple times.

The Apache log contains multiple entries like this:

"OPTIONS /Documents/ HTTP/1.1" "Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/6.1.7600"

The server is not running WebDAV.

Other browsers  continue to download files without problems. Other (non-Office) documents are downloaded without problems.

Any advice on how to avoid this nonsense?

IE10: Scroll bar, right click and some hyperlinks are dead

I am using IE10 10.0.9200.16750 update 10.0.12 with Windows Server 2012 Foundation.

About three days ago the vertical scroll bar, mouse scrolling wheel, some hyperlinks and the right-click button all stopped working in IE. They all work fine on other applications, so this seems to be specific to IE10. I have tried rebooting, but the problem is still there. I thought about re-installing IE10, but the instructions state I have to uncheck the IE10 feature in the "Remove Roles and Features" wizard of the Server Manager, but there is no such feature listed. IE10 is not listed as a program in Control Panel.

I can move up and down using a combination of Tab, up/down arrows, home and end buttons, but these are blunt instruments, and with some links/menus not working IE is pretty difficult to use at the moment.

Any help with fixing this problem would be much appreciated.

I have seen lots of posts but no answers.

I have Windows 8 Pro RTM installed from MSDN. I am running IE10 and I go to my Linksys router and get the usual certificate error. In all previous versions of IE, you could just click continue and move forward. IE10 does not all this, please let me know where this setting is so I can use IE10, I hope I am not forced to use Chrome. Also there is no option to run as IE9 for some reason.
