English US Internet Explorer 9 installation on Chinese Simplified systems not delivering 32bit IE9 on 64bit Windows

Hi all,

I am a deployment engineer and one of our prerequisites is to install IE9 in our product. I have specified that 64bit Windows (Win 7 SP1, Win 2008 R2 SP1) should get a 64bit IE9 and I have a custom IE9 install using IEAK9.

This all works fine for English, French and German but on Chinese Simplified systems the IE9 install that I have created only installs the 64bit. The 32bit component is missing.

I have noticed:

1. On full install of IE9 (non IEAK) downloaded from MS only the 64bit version is installed.

2. The downloaded Chinese Simplified install of IE9 delivers both 64bit and 32bit.

For all installs of our product needs to have both 64bit and 32bit installed on 64bit Windows.

I do not want to add every localized version of IE9 that behaves this way into our prerequisite installer. It potentially may blow out disc space requirement (we do not have enough space on dual layered dvd).

Is there a way to get one installation source of IE9 to deliver both 64bit and 32bit versions on 64bit Windows regardless of localization?

Thanks for looking

Hi,

so I am trying to access a site but keep coming across this message:

"We have detected that your current browser does not support many of the dynamic elements contained in this website. This website requires Internet Explorer 5.5+ to display correctly. Updated versions of Internet Explorer can be installed by clicking on the link below." (and a link to download the latest version of explorer.

However, I already have the latest version installed and still keep getting this message on the site. Anyone have any ideas of what I could do ?

Thanks.

IE keep "stop working". Running in Windows 7.

I have IE10 running. Windows 7. I started having issues about 2-3 months ago. I Downloaded some free software from trusted sites to prepare for a major switch (PCs). But this PC is to be still active in the house. A small amount of them were installed to test. Some I had to remove.

Now I have an issue of IE10 keep stopping and reloading the page. I found the following and went thru the steps:

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Let’s take a look at what could be causing Internet Explorer to be giving you these messages. First step will be to reset Internet Explorer, you can do this by:

· Close any Internet Explorer windows

· Click Start

· Click Control Panel

· Open Internet Options (you may have to switch from category view to icons to find this)

· Click the Advanced tab

· Click Reset…

· Click Reset

· Click Close

· Click OK

· Open Internet Explorer

If you are still having problems, then next thing to look at would be another program causing a conflict with Internet Explorer. You can test this by doing a clean boot: (if you have Windows Explorer crashes, test these with a clean boot as well)

· Click Start

· Type msconfig into the search field (if using Windows XP you will need to click Run… then type in msconfig)

· Press Enter on your keyboard

· Click Continue on the User Account Control (If prompted)

· Click Selective startup

· Uncheck Load startup items

· Click the Services tab

· Check the Hide all Microsoft services box

· Click Disable all

· Click OK

· Click Restart Now

Once your computer has finished restarting, test to see if you still get the same error in Internet Explorer. If not then you just have to identify which service/startup item was causing the problem.

· Click Start

· Type msconfig into the search field (if using Windows XP you will need to click Run… then type in msconfig)

· Press Enter on your keyboard

· Click Continue on the User Account Control (If prompted)

· Click the Services tab

· Check the Hide all Microsoft services box

· Check (Enable) the top half of the service boxes

· Click OK

· Click Restart Now

Once your computer has restarted, again test to see if the problem is still gone. If so, then the services you enabled are good to stay. Repeat the enabling process for half of the remaining disabled services and continue this process until the problem returns or all services are enabled. If the problem returns then you will need to test the last batch of services you enabled one by one to find which was causing the problem to occur.

If you enable all services and the problem still hasn’t returned:

· Click Start

· Type msconfig into the search field (if using Windows XP you will need to click Run… then type in msconfig)

· Press Enter on your keyboard

· Click Continue on the User Account Control (If prompted)

· Click the Startup tab

· Check (Enable) the top half of the service boxes

· Click OK

· Click Restart Now

I still have the problem. Clean installing windows 7 is not an option at time. I have Yahoo and Google toolbars working thru IE. Please help

I'm trying to install IE 10 on an up-to-date Windows 7 x64. I also have the latest AMD video drivers installed. The only anti-virus is Microsoft Security Essentials which is also up-to-date. I start the install of "IE10-Windows6.1-x64-en-us" and these are the status messages I get during the installation:

downloading required updates
installing required updates
installing
installing language package
restarting program

Internet Explorer restarts, but it's still IE 9. No error messages and I'm unabe to find any evidence of any IE 10 files. Any help would be appreciated.

IE7 Installation results in log entry "Couldn't initialize the Windows Update Manager, HRESULT:0x80040154"

Hello Everyone...

Just starting to post in forums, so your patience and assistance are greatly appreciated as I learn the ropes.

The problem being experienced is the inability to install an upgrade to IE6, namely IE7 or IE8.  The error displayed in IE7_main.log reads, "Couldn't initialize the Windows Update Manager, HRESULT:0x80040154."  The same error displays in IE8_main.log when attempting an install.

System is WXPSp3, no 3rd party FW or AV; Windows FW disabled.  Updated Windows Installer 4.5; no change.  Latest updates installed with exception of Internet Explorer 8 (desired).  Attempted installation through Windows Update (WSUS); failed.  Downloaded IE7 local and executed; failed.  Downloaded IE7 local, extracted, updated iecustom.inf by removing iecustom.dll references with no success (on execution of the update.exe, received crypto verification problem).  Attempted with IE8, also to no avail.  Local executions were "unblocked" from execution.

This system is not a workstation but rather a Network Analyzer (Test Equipment) from Agilent Technologies with an embedded OS installation.  This system was received back after an image flash from Agilent in April, when the problem was first observed.  This system is not capable of general web navigation nor does it receive email.  It is for this and other reasons that there is no 3rd party FW or AV.  It does however require the ability to display content that is no longer able to be displayed under the IE6 platform.  Of course, out of an abundance of caution, I have already checked the system for malware and the like in the off chance the image from which it was flashed was compromised.  Other systems received akin to this system haven't had any problems in the upgrade.

My greatest suspicion is that I have missed an update prerequisite that I cannot pin-point.  Hopefully the details of this problem can help others point me to a solution.

Win7 Help suggests Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool

$

Suggestion:

I have Win7 Pro. Help suggested using Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool. Clicked link, but Microsoft said "Not Found."

Some help!

I see on another thread that the Tool was meant only for WinXP and Win Vista. Oops! Shouldn't the help file for Win7 be updated to reflect this? The obvious answer seems to be "yes." But I'm uncertain where this suggestion should be posted.

Question:

Is there a replacement tool for Win 7 and beyond?

CODEDUI issue regarding - security patch (KB2870699)

Hi All,

When I try to playback the recorded scripts (using CodedUI) I get errors as mentioned :-http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2013/09/17/coded-ui-mtm-issues-on-internet-explorer-with-kb2870699.aspx

I had read that as a temporary workaround I can uninstall security update (KB2870699) which I did but the issue persists.

On reading further I realized that in the link mentioned above, for Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with SP1(Windows 7), there is a solution for it. The link mentioned that the patch(KB2870699) should be present and then the solution provided.

When I try to install the patch I get the error "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 in Windows 7 (KB2870699) - update is not for your computer"

Please provide a solution to this issue.

Permanently removing web page elements

Basically I'm looking for something like the Firefox extension Remove It Permanently but for IE, to remove certain elements on certain web pages. In Firefox/Chrome I could even make a custom AdBlock filter to remove things, but I discovered that AdBlock for IE doesn't have nearly the same functionality as the Firefox/Chrome versions.

I can use the F12 developer tools to do the same thing but it comes back whenever I reload the page.

Is there anything that would let me do this?

On startup of IE 10 or 11 cursor continually flashes with accompanying circle icon and takes over all machine resources

Since the last week in November, evertime I start up IE, I get a flashing cursor with rotating blue circle.  If I let it continue for a while - the whole machine becomes un-reponsive.  I tried going back to IE 10 from IE 11 and that did not solve the problem.  Any thoughts?

F5 Networks Firepass and Internet Explorer 11

I am running Windows 7 and recently appear to have been upgraded to Internet Explorer 11.

A Couple of days ago i was successfully using F5 Firepass (using IE 10). Today i cant use it...

After sorting out Kaspersky - which has started to consoder the logon as needing a secure keyboard entry (never did this before...),

I am getting warnings; (a) that Javascript is not enabled - it looks enabled to me...

(b) I need to install the F5 Browser plugin.

I have downloaded the plugin (NPuroamHost.dll), and the instructions are to 'unpack it into the plugins folder of your browser tree.'

Where on earth is this?

I found another post elsewhere with a similar problem - and the solution was to uninstall Internet Explorer 11. Amazing!

IEAK - import favourites and add site to compatability view

$

I'm starting to use IEAK  to customise our IE.  It is my first time using it, but two specific things are causing me some trouble.

Firstly, I would like to import some favourites.  I exported favourites from IE into a html file, but when I point IE Customisation Wizard toward a local folder containing only that html file, the favourites do not appear in the window in the IE Customisation Wizard.

I can use the same html file to import the favourites into IE, so there isn't anything wrong with the favourites file, afaik.

Am I going about it the right way?  Is there a better way to import these favourites into the Customisation Wizard?

Secondly - there is a legacy site that I would like to always have viewed in Compatibility View.  I cannot see a way to add a site to the compatibility view list through the IE Customisation Wizard?  I hope I am missing something simple here!

I'm aware of a technical alternative (adding a meta tag to the website telling IE to use compatibility view), but that is not an option in this particular case.

Thanks for any help

Internet Explorer display blank page

$

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.
