Setting IE Home Page using GP

$

I am new to using group policy, I am having some troubles setting a home page for all users.

I have set the url within

Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Internet Explorer Maintenance > URLs > Important URLs

Also within

Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates >Windows Components > Internet Explorer

edit the “Disable changing home page setting"

The url has successfully applied, although I am getting %20 before my url

For example the required URL is as follows:

http://cheese.easysearch.org.uk/

But all client machines are getting:

http://%20cheese.easysearch.org.uk/

Any suggestions? my domain name is different to the URL

I've checked. Manually re-entered. multiple times. And copy and pasted. no spaces are present within the URL ("%20").

IE11 Server 2012 R2 NetFlix Error

Okay so I just did a fresh install of Windows Server 2012 R2 (Build 9600) (was running Server 2012) on my system approximately 2 days ago.  After getting all my drivers installed and basic applications I wanted to relax to a show on Netflix.  However, when I attempt to play a video I will see the buffering (different percentages each time) then it will stop suddenly and give the error below.

Whoops, something went wrong... Netflix Video Player Unavailable

Our apologies - we cannot find the right components to play Netflix.

Please ensure your version of Internet Explorer is the latest available.

Error Code: H7354

My first troubleshooting step was to search the internet and found nothing regarding that error code.  I did learn that when using IE11 with Netflix that Silverlight is not used.  However I attempted to install the latest version fromhttp://www.microsoft.com/silverlight (v5).  After doing so I still got the same error, but Netflix would now work in Mozilla FireFox and Google Chrome.

I searched Netflex and found http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/C/9/6C970550-32AB-4235-9CDD-7FC9DD848BBB/silverlight.diagcab which does some repairs on Silverlight.  This did not help.  I have Netflix in my "Trusted Sites" as "*.Netflix.com" as well.  I contacted Netflix support, but they were not able to help with this error and say that this is a Microsoft issue.

I contacted one of Microsoft's Support line who attempted to help me the best they could.  They attempted to remote into my system tried changing several settings, uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight.  I have a work-around using another browser, but I would rather use Internet Explorer as in the past it works better.  I should probably note that I was running Internet Explorer 10 on my previous Operating System.

Can anyone help?

Note: I posted in this forum based on the recommendation from my original post...

Sharepoint online 2013, login.js javascript errors when opening documents

Hi,

We're using sharepoint 2013 online in a corporate environment with internet explorer 8.

In general things are working OK; however every time when a user tries to open a document following login box and javascript error appear (both excel and word show same behaviour).

Note that the users are already signed in on the sharepoint site when this error appears (they just click on edit document). Clicking the javascript error away does unfortunately always result in the document opening. Any help would be appreciated!

IE 11.0.9600.16438

Compatibility View (CV) is not working for local html files, even if "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View" checkbox is checked. Using F12 and emulate document mode, e.g. 8 is working, but a more permanent solution is wanted.

Further: How to choose sites and not only domain in the CV settings ?

CODEDUI issue regarding - security patch (KB2870699)

Hi All,

When I try to playback the recorded scripts (using CodedUI) I get errors as mentioned :-http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2013/09/17/coded-ui-mtm-issues-on-internet-explorer-with-kb2870699.aspx

I had read that as a temporary workaround I can uninstall security update (KB2870699) which I did but the issue persists.

On reading further I realized that in the link mentioned above, for Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate with SP1(Windows 7), there is a solution for it. The link mentioned that the patch(KB2870699) should be present and then the solution provided.

When I try to install the patch I get the error "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 in Windows 7 (KB2870699) - update is not for your computer"

Please provide a solution to this issue.

Save Compatibility View Settings in Desktop IE11

{Surface Pro - Win 8.1 - IE11}

I cannot get IE11 to save domains in compatibility view. In a session I can designate a domain to display in compatibility mode. During the session, everything is fine. When I close the browser and then go in the next day, all the domains that were in the list are gone. The list is completely blank.

I go through the process again, but after closing out and then loading the browser again they're gone.

Is there a setting I'm missing?

Thanks,

Stathy

Compatibility View list (iecompatdata.xml) and europa.eu

I noticed that europa.eu domain is being added in IE's iecompatdata.xml file. I guess this is because people were clicking the Compatibility View button when visiting old sites running under this domain. But this actually means that all sites that run under this domain name run under compatibility view settings. And I can assure you there are hundreds of such sites. Many of them SharePoint 2010 and 2013. I'm particularly interested in SharePoint installations, which are usually not accessible on Internet for direct access, but usually only within local networks or through VPNs.

I'm currently working on a SharePoint 2013 project. Does it make sense to run a SharePoint 2013 site under compatibility view?

I guess I can ask from the administrators of our infrastructure to exclude europa.eu from that list (somehow, not sure exactly but this is not the point). But I wonder what's the deal with this issue in general?

IE11 constantly needing reset

$

Hello. I have an install of win 8.1. IE 11 is frequently going into a weird status, and will then not download pictures, or allow file downloads, and doesn't display most web pages correctly. Not sure if it is attempting to go into a high security mode, but some pages will give a "javascript needs enabled" error.

I have found that if I go into IE settings - advanced and do a basic reset, IE will then work normally for a while, until something happens

I have "protected Mode" enabled through group policy, would this be causing this behavior? and how would I best get this corrected.

Internet explorer 11 was automatically loaded last night. Since then any time you search it locks up my home page. Sometimes waiting 10-15 minutes it fixes itself. More often than naught you have to restart the computer. I'm running windows 7 64 bit. A few months back I had the same problem and got rid of ie11 and was using ie9. any thoughts. Thanks, MLR

Can't delete favorites from IE 10 - Windows 8

Yesterday out of the blue some old pages from my favorites list reappeared.  I deleted these in the past and now they just showed up.  When I right click on them to delete them or go to organize favorites to delete them, they delete for a few seconds, but then reappear.  I try again and again, but they just keep coming back.  The "favorites bar" in my favorites list does the same thing.  I have also gone to users/profile/favorites to try and delete them and they just come back.

I've run multiple scans with my antivirus software and spybot software, but it didn't fix it.

Anyone know how to fix this or know what the problem could be?  I am not a tech guy, just an average joe, but can get around windows decently.

Thanks for your help.

.NET 3.5 Hosting in IE11/Windows 8.1

I have an application where I host a .NET 3.5 Windows Forms control in Internet explorer to provide access to a scanner. The control works fine in IE7 through IE10 and IE11, but it is not workingin IE11 on Windows 8.1 (desktop mode).

The PC in question has both .NET 2.0/3.0/3.5 and .NET 4.0/4.5 installed and enabled, the site has been added to the trusted zone, CASPOL permissions have been set the same as they are on the PC's running Win7 and EnableIEHosting has been set to 1 at both 32 and 64bit levels on the PC.

Debugging locally indicates that the problem lies in calling a web service method  which never seems to return and never seems to actually run either. All I am left with is a locked IE11 that has to be closed from task manager.

I have diagnosed that it is actually the constructor of a Web service client that fails to return. It is a simple generated client class and as such simply calls the base constructor ; unfortunately, it is failing within the call to the base class.

As previously stated, this has worked without problem from IE7 through IE10 on Windows XP through Windows 8.0 and I am absolutely certain that the CASPOL configurations etc. have been set correctly.

Is anybody aware of any other problems or new configuration requirements when hosting .NET Windows Forms controls in IE11?

How can I restore IE 10 after 11 installs?

Hello all,

Internet Explorer 11 automatically installed on my computer and now I'm having trouble logging into several sites (notably my online bank site and eBay).  I want to go back to IE 10 or even 9 but haven't found a way to do that.  So far I've tried:

  1. Turning IE 11 off (since you can't uninstall it)
  2. Tried to install IE 10 but it says it's already installed (the same goes for IE 9)
  3. Tried to find the .exe file for 9 or 10 (since it's still installed) but every iexplore.exe opens IE 11 and no other.
  4. My last resort will be to do a complete computer restore to an earlier date before IE 11 was installed.  But I hate to do that.

The error I get on eBay is "If you are seeing this page, your browser settings prevent you for automatically redirecting to a new URL."   I can log in fine with Google Chrome but get nowhere with IE 11.  I’ve tried to find the settings that prevent a page from redirecting but can find nothing, plus IE 11 is totally different from previous versions so have to figure out where the settings even are.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or tips to help me get back to an earlier version of Internet Explorer?  I’m really frustrated with IE all together now and if there is no solution, I’ll just stay with Google Chrome.

Thanks,

Marcine

Office Documents Format Does Not Preserve When Open With IE 11

Guys,

I am using Windows 7 (32bit) with IE 11 and sometime access my emails through OWA (Outlook Web Access).

When I paste any contents from Excel or Word into OWA message body, it pasted in plan text. It lost formatting.

Even I open any attached document, it also converted into plan text. All formatting have been removed.

Excel to Word, Word to Excel and to Microsoft Outlook all work fine. Formatting lost in IE only.

Any idea? Thanking in advance.

When I launch Internet explorer 10 two tabs open.  One is the default browser, the other says:

Discover the new Internet Explorer for Windows 8

Set Internet Explorer as your default browser to get afast                      and fluidbrowsing experience that’s great for touch                     and built for Windows 8.

When I click on "Set default browser" nothing happens.  When I click on "no thanks" nothing happens.  When I go to "Tools" and reset the browser to the default, close ie and open it again, still the two tabs open.  How can I get rid of the second tab?

res protocol called from ActiveX or IE

Hello,

Please, does anybody know why first example works and second does not  (via IE)?
1. res://C:\tmp\foo.dll/292
2. res://\\pc\tmp\foo.dll/292 (pc is the name of computer in the intranet site and all path is accesible)

The same situation occures, when my dll library, which contains CDHTMLDialog class implementation, is on the network path and is loaded by local application.

Is there any restriction of the res protocole implementation ?

Thank you very much for answers.

NetSpark virous cuts us off the internet.

Hi,

Everytime we open IE9 (VISTA) & type something in google search this "NetSpark" shows in the top left hand corner & we cannot get in to a site we typed for.

It is an Israeley site embeded in our PC & cannot get rid of it.

At the bottom of the page says "About us" which says "net filtering solutions" etc.

Is like a virous interfeering with anything we try to do in IE9.

We hope somebody here cares to help us get rid of this virous.

MSN and Internet Explorer 11 compatibility issues

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on an Asus laptop. According to the techies at MSN there are some compatibilty issues between IE 11 and MSN. Specifically, many of the links on the MSN.com homepage are not accessible, e.g., wonderwall.com and the calendar.live.com. I have been able to get the calendar when logged into Google chrome , and the links on the MSN.com homepage are accessible with IE and Google. The MSN techies said the only way to fix the problem was to uninstall IE 11 and then download IE 10. I know there is no way to really "uninstall" IE 11 so is there a work around for this issue.  I've tried fixing with "compatibility view", but that hasn't worked.  I can't even add "wonderwall.com"

I would appreciate any advice/recommendations as to how to fix this problem

Thanks
