IE 11 upgrade appears to have corrupted TIF affecting Outlook 2010 (images) and Excel 2010 (embedded queries)

I'm running Windows 7 Professional and just upgraded IE from 9 to 11. Afterwards, I observed that Outlook 2010 was not downloading pictures (instead showing red x's) and Excel 2010 embedded internet queries stopped working.

I think I've cornered the problem, but can't seem to fix. I have also observed that IE's temporary internet files (TIF) folder may be missing (Internet Options>Browsing History>Settings>Temporary Internet Files shows nothing under Current Location) and the allotted disk space is set to zero and cannot be changed. If I input another number (no matter the number), I receive the following error message:

"Please select a value between 8 and 8 for how much disk space Temporary Internet Files may use."

I have tried renaming the following RegEdit keys, but to no avail: Cache and LowCache (both under HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Internet Settings>5.0). They get replaced when IE11 is re-opened.

The actual values within the registry keys are as follows:

Cache>Content>CacheLimit = 8192 (Decimal)

LowCache>Content>CacheLimit = 256000 (Decimal)

This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do you really delete IE from Windows 10

I have an issue where I visited my work site during development  when I had a reference to Microsoft.Excel.Interop.

I since removed the reference and went another route because adding the reference causes IE to show a message box:

I know the issue is now fixed, because other people can visit the site with IE and have no problem; the only machines that have the issue are the 3 machines I tried to reach the site while I had the reference to Interop. Chrome and Firefox both work fine.

I uninstalled IE 11 on Windows 10, but when I reinstalled IE, all of my favorites are still there, so I am sure whatever entry IE marked for this site to list it as unsafe (somewhere in the registry I imagine) the issue still happens.

Do I really have to reinstall Windows to get rid of this issue. I have read numerous posts, and tried them all and nothing gets rid of this message. I tried adding the site as a trusted site, I read some posts about some registry entries, but I already had their suggestions and still I get the message. I tried restoring IE defaults, I tried lowering security settings and still get this message. The site works fine in other browsers, and even the same version of IE and Windows 10 on other computers that never visited the site while it had the reference to Microsoft.Excel.Interop.

Somewhere IE has this site flagged or cached, but clearing my history doesn't clear whatever flag IE set for this site.

It has been on my to do list to wipe my home pc and reinstall everything, but my work pc I can't reinstall everything at the moment so please if someone knows a trick to clear this let me know.

Thanks

SSRS site defaults to IE 5 mode

Hi All,

I have a SSRS site, which by default is rendered in IE 5 compatibility mode which is making few rendering problems. I have IE 11 installed on my Windows 7 machine.

The same SSRS site is displayed without any rendering problems in IE Edge mode for rest of my colleagues having same machine configuration.

Can anybody let me know of what needs to be done to make the site render always in IE Edge. Please note when I use the emulation tab to change it to IE Edge it works fine, I would like the site to render in IE Edge by default.

Thanks,

Vinayak

I have been experiencing intermittently for months the failure to attach files in web mail applications opened in 'Edge' , I have variously cleared cache - everything - and rebooted - with some success previously - but this morning no joy - so I have files to send but this 'windows 10' system browser won't attach them ?  I gave up trying to use google chrome in windows 10 month ago as it was so unstable - why on earth can the worlds 2 largest computer company's just sort it out !

and windows - I can assure you as a reluctant recruit to windows 10 at the start , my reluctance has been vindicated - this windows 10 system is NOT what it is claimed to be - full of glitches and fails - most disappointing IMHO !

I can't even send an email attachment in the official windows browser !

HELP !

Hello All,

I've got a weird situation here...I have a 32bit win7 enterprise machine that will not open any links in the body of Outlook.  it will open up just fine if i click on a link from Word.  If i set Chrome as the default browser, that works as well.  I need IE to be the default because most of the business apps work in IE.

I've uninstalled IE by going into Windows Features and removing it, rebooting, adding it back and rebooted. Same issue.

Set IE as default browser. same issue

upgraded from IE 8 to IE 9, same issue

Ran repair on Office, same issue.

removed Office, and then ran a office 2010 removal program. rebooted, loaded office back and tried, same issue.

Tried various different registry changes, same issue.

Any help to get to a resolution would be Greatly appreciated.

Side note... i did do a little hack that may have caused this whole issue....Upgraded Windows 7 Pro sp1 to Windows 7 Ent sp1. seems like since then links do not work when clicking on them from outlook.  BUT this is not my machine and im not sure what the user may have done between doing that upgrade and this issue.  everything else works just fine! and we have numerous other machines we did this upgrade to and they do not have this issue!

HELP!  Thanks

Hi,

Internet Explorer is set not to trust SHA-1 SSL Server certificates by June 2016 after the SHA-1 was almost broken in Nov 2015.

Do you know if SHA-1 SSL Client certificate will be ruled out as well ? If yes, what is the expected deadline / ruling-out criteria  (notBefore / notAfter / ...) ?

Thanks in advance

Microsoft Edge Issue with SharePoint

If I am using Microsoft Edge to access a SharePoint site and I want to "upload" a document the first upload works as expected.  Now if I attempt to upload the second document the selected file will not get adopted from the browse button.  The field remains greyed out.  Logging out and logging back in has no effect.  Only one document can be loaded.  Using an alternate product such as Firefox I can add documents without issue.  I would prefer not have to bounce between browsers is there a fix in Edge for this issue?

Most respectfully,  Windows 10 user.

Enterprise Mode IE7 - document mode 5

If I turn on compatibility mode manually in IE11 it correctly detects the existence of a DOCTYPE tag in the html and either uses IE7 or IE5 document mode. It is happily using IE7 mode as we do have a DOCTYPE tag on our internal webserver.

It I use an Enterprise Mode site list to choose IE7 Enterprise mode or IE7 Document Mode, it always uses IE5 document mode, regardless of the DOCTYPE tag.  While we transition, the default for our internal sites need to be in IE7 mode, but IE5 is breaking our sites.

Can anyone else confirm this behavior or know how to make it not use IE5 document mode?

Clipboard Access Prompt - Allow Programmatic clipboard access Not working

Hi All

We are using Windows 10 Ent VDI, we set our IE settings for GPO preferences and have set enable under "Allow Programmatic clipboard access" for trusted sites and Internet. However, when using our internal Intranet, we are getting prompts to allow access to the clipboard even though the site is in our trusted sites. If I disable the settings on the user’s session and then enable it again it works fine, unfortunately our machines are non-persistent so any changes are lost at logoff.

Any suggestions how to get this to work correctly?

Thanks,

Currently we are using IE 10 with compatibility mode is IE=7 and we are upgrading the browser version IE11 edge mode.

The application work fine in IE 11 and IE10 with existing compatibility mode ie. IE=7 but when it is change to IE=edge the application is not working as expected in IE10 browser for examples page is not loading & unnecessary popup's whether as in IE11 it is working fine.

I tried as per the below link say edge mode in IE 10 is Internet Explorer 10 and edge in IE11.So i set to compatibility mode to

Internet Explorer 10 still the application is not working in IE10 and working fine in IE11

"Apply" button greyed

i noticed just this morning when i checked on co-workers IE 10 settings. i thought it was because of his addons but i've disabled all addons yet the "Apply" buttong in IE is greyed out. but changes are being accepted.

then when i checked my own IE11 it too suffers from the same greyed out "Apply" button. i'm running Win10 while my co-worker have Win7.

is this a security concern or some subtle changes from MS? (like the IE settings in GPO).

IE10 wont allow me to open FTP files in Explorer View

I have an FTP internally that is used to host PDF & HTML files. Previously all users could log onto this FTP site and double click on any file content to have it open within the default browser. We use FTP in explorer view so each user can set their terminals to save their passwords, hence they log straight into their root folder on the FTP - if we use the FTP list view in the browser this doesnt happen, meaning user 9999 has a long way to scroll to find their documents!
This has always worked absolutely fine until IE10 has been installed, now any user with IE10 cant open files straight from the FTP via the Explorer view. The file doesnt download, the destination file ends up at 0KB so just doesnt open in the browser. Roll back to IE9 fixes the problem. Using Chrome as the default browser fixes the problem. Using the FTP list view also works fine (however we cant use this since it wont default to users root folder that they have access to)
Ive attempted everything i can think of without luck, its looking like we're going to have to block IE10 or switch to Chrome. Basically opening files from any FTP site (have tested others) in explorer view with IE10 installed just isnt working. You can however copy the document to the local machine then open ok..
Any ideas, what am i missing here!?
Cheers!!!
