Internet Explorer 11 is automaticall sending proxy cached credentials instead of using the basic auth popup

0
0

Having a lot of issues with the new explorer 11 but the most baffling is this:

Say a user has (against policy) checked the box on the basic auth box allowing IE to remember the password. In previous versions even though this is checked each time the proxy sends the 407 response the box would popup with the information entered. IE 11 is not doing this, it just responds to the 407 with the credentials that were saved and goes on. Now this is a REAL problem if a user with admin access has entered their info for one reason or another and missed the fact that the box was checked. And I can find no way to clear the cached credentials, deleting everything does not help nor no setting I can find including setting HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings DisablePasswordCaching = 1 (which never worked in Windows 7 but still popped up the auth box). The ONLY way I have found to clear the credentials is to have the user change their password so the password fails. As we are saddled with several large vendors requiring the use of IE I need to know how to fix this and keep it from ever happening again. It is the most unacceptable behavior I have ever seen from a company that specializes in unacceptable behavior in their software products

Internet Explorer 11 Desktop verison does not always load pages at startup

Hi,

I am having an issue that is driving me mad and I know that others have had the same issue but I can’t really find any threads online that will help med solve the problem.

When I open IE 11 as a regular user (no admin privileges) it does not always display the start page. The loading “circle” on the tab keep spinning as if it is trying to load the page but nothing happens. Now if I open another IE11 browser it could work perfectly in the new browser window.

It does not matter if I try another URL, it does not matter if I open a new tab.
If the start page does not load then no other page will load either.

Scenario 1:
I open 10 IE11 browsers and all of them load the start page perfectly

Scenario 2:
I open 10 IE11 browsers none of them could load the start page

Scenario 3:
I open 10 IE11 browser and anywhere between one to all ten of them will start page perfectly.

The issue is not the start page as I have tried with msn.com google.com, you name it I have tried it.

Protected mode is OFF.

Hardware acceleration is OFF.

This is a brand new installation and it does not matter if I do the installation once or ten times. The same issue still occur. I am running the latest Enterprise release Win 10 OS from November 2015.

I am a senior system admin so I know what I am doing and what to look for.
In this case however, I am totally lost as I do know how what on earth could be causing the issue

If I run iexplorer.exe as an administrator however, then it works every time, but this is not a solution as domain users do not have admin privileges and will never have.

Here is a perfect example of when I have opened multiple IE11 browsers.
As you can see 4 of them are not loading the start page

All questions/tests below have been tried

1) Which version of Internet Explorer do you use? Is it Desktop version or the Modern version?
2) What is the exact/complete error message?

Method 1: Run the Internet Explorer performance Troubleshooter.

Please follow the steps given below to perform the Internet Explorer performance Troubleshooter.

a) Press Windows + W together.
b) Write Troubleshooting in the search box right up corner and hit enter.
c) Click on Troubleshooting tab.
d) Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
e) Select the Internet Explorer Performance options from the list.
f) Click on Next to perform the troubleshooting.

Method 2: Open Internet Explorer 10 in no-add ons mode and check if you’re able to load the websites.

Follow the steps given here.

a) Press the ‘Windows Keys +X key on the desktop.
b) Select Run.
c) In the Run window type ‘iexplore –extoff’ and click ‘OK’.
d) Now try to open the websites to check if you’re able to load the websites.

If the issue does not persist in Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), then it is one of the add-ons causing this issue. Please follow the steps below to locate the problem add-on low:

Disable add-ons from here:

a) Open Internet Explorer.
b) Select the Setting (Gear) option from the top right corner.
c) Select Internet Option. Go to the Programs tab.
d) Select Mange Add ons option in front of Enable or disable browser addons installed on your computer.
e) Re-enable the add-ons one by one and check with which Add-on you get this error message.
f) Disable the Add-on causing the problem.

You can go ahead and try the step which you have mentioned to disable the Nortan security software temporarily and check for the issue.

Warning: Security software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

2. Click Open or Save, status bar will show can't download and button change to [Retry] [Cancel] [View Download]
3. Click Retry, file can be download, but content was wrong, all will be replace by Web Page.

I try to do this on another PC, same result.
Is application need to modify? or change IIS setting? or need do anything?

How to really disable page zooming in IE11 on Windows 8.1.

0

Simple really.

GPEDIT "turn off page zooming functionality" does not seem to work in 8.1 on my Toughpad 4K.

Am I missing something? A check of the registry shows that "ZoomDisabled" or whatever it was = 1 yet pinch zoom still works on 8.1

Notes: 10 is not an option, this is for embedded. Chrome et cetera are also not options for the same reason.

Registry, real working GPEdit good.

Requiring specially coded HTML if it works might be an option but I would prefer not to have to explore that canal.

Internet Explorer 11 constantly causes screen flickering with Windows 8.1

My screen is constantly flickering and sometimes tabs go blank (white) for no reason while using IE11 with Windows 8.1.  This does not happen with other browsers.  My resolution and refresh rate for my monitor are both set to recommended settings and my Windows and drivers are all up to date.

This page can't be displayed - Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 ** But TLS is already turned on.

I have a user that when they try to log into Duke Progress Energy's website at https://www.progress-energy.com/app/loginregistration/login.aspx it will redirect them to a "one time authentication" page which requires them to use a one-time key to log in on a new computer.  When going to this one-time website (secure8.i-doxs.net) it will get an error message that says...

This page can't be displayed

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in the Advanced settings and try connecting to https://secure8.i-doxs.net again.  If this error persists, contact your site administrator.

Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO.  Restarting IE and rebooting did not help.  Chrome and Firefox both work flawlessly.

Edit: This is IE 11 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

Pop up submission form not showing

A popup submission form that is expected to display in front of a open PDF document on internet explorer does not work.

In another browser we see the following

Internet explorer seems to open the popup submission form first and then the PDF. It looks like the popup submission form is hidden behind the pdf document.

When refreshing the screen I can see the popup submission form for split seconds before the reload.

The debugger shows these errors

From the top to "HTML1300: Navigation occurred." is where the popup submission displays. After that the PDF comes into the picture and the popup(I guess) goes to the background.

Any advice will be appreciated.

IE Broken after Sysprep COPYPROFILE used

After fully building my Windows 8 and 10 images using Audit Mode, I use the COPYPROFILE setting in Sysprep to make a copy of the profile for all users. The issue occurs when the user's try using IE 11. The MSN homepage is missing nearly all of it's content, except the main scrolling section for top articles. All other sections are gone and none of the ads load. I have tried resetting IE andrebuilding the image, neither of these worked. I Prepped the image without using the COPYPROFILE switch and IE is usable but all my configurations are gone. Please advise.

How to use a variable in the IE 11 Enterprise site list tool

Hello,

We have slightly unique URL that is accessed in multiple instances throughout our company. I would like to avoid having to add the URL 200 + times into the enterprise site list to run in IE mode but it doesn't seem to allow a variable. Does anyone know how I could accomplish that? Below is the example I am working on.

Thanks,

Tony

Security Warnings

Hi,

We are facing a issue in one of our Windows 2008 Server which is connected to internet via proxy. Whenever we are trying to open any website it is giving warning as below.

Security Warning: The current Web page is trying to open a site on your intranet.
Do you want to allow this?

Current Site: www.whatever.com
Intranet site: http://Proxy.domain.com

I have already tried "'Websites in less privileged web content zone can navigate into this zone" for all zones to enable/disable but no use. I have tried enabling/DisablingProtected mode for all zones but no use.

The Intranet site in the warning is showing the address of one of ourproxy server node.

Please suggest

IE 11 on Windows 10 crashes with Protected Mode On

I am having an issue where Protected Mode causes certain websites to crash with IE11. I have noticed it on three different websites. Our internal Citrix webpage, GoToAssist's portal, and our Exchange OWA website. If Protected Mode is on, these websites cause IE11 to crash. When Protected Mode is off, the websites work fine. I have only seen this behavior on Windows 10. It works fine on Windows 7. I have noticed this on multiple machines that are both domain and non-domain machines.

Forcing IE11 to open JPEG in a external program

Is there a way to define what program IE11 will use to open a JPEG? I know that you can download the JPEG but I would like to know if it could be defined in IE11 to open JPEGs in Paint or Photo viewer or some other external program.

Proxy Server Issue

IE 11, Windows 8.1

On start-up of IE 11 I get the following error msg:

The proxy server isn’t responding

  • Check your proxy settings 127.0.0.1:49376.

I do not use a proxy server. If I go into LAN settings and deselect the proxy server and select Automatic Detect,  when I restart IE the settings go back to requiring a proxy server?!?!?

This is driving me up a wall.

TKS,

WHERE ARE THE ADD-ONS in the Internet Explorer Gallery?!?!?!?

0

It's becoming widely known that Microsoft, in its infinitesimal wisdom, recently "enhanced" the IE Gallery, which used to hold dozens of useful add-ons. Now many favorites such as Map with Google Maps and Translate with Google Translate are gone. And on top of that, the buttons to provide feedback are broken (They return javascript:void(0);).

Really, if I didn't know better, I would think Microsoft was trying to intentionally antagonize its users, but I think even Microsoft isn't that dense. Surely this must be a mistake. If someone from Microsoft who actually gives a sh*t about the users is reading this, please tell whomever that is responsible for this screw up to fix it.

Reg entry for deleting temp files in Windows 7?

0

I have a fleet of non-domain joined machines that we manage through Dell's Kace system and I'm trying to run a script on them or a registry file to automatically delete all temp IE files on exit for every user.

I'm testing with my machine, which already has the setting applied through group policy. So here are the keys I've checked after much googling:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Privacy : ClearBrowsingHistoryOnExit - doesn't exist on my system

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\CACHE : Persistent - Mine is set to 1 (persistent) but my cache is deleted so clearly it's being overridden somewhere.

Any other ideas? Or will one of these actually work on a non-domain machine?

Thanks,

Keith

When computer sits idle (off line) and after a bit, (not sure how long, maybe an hour) try to get on-line, won't connect. Re-boot, it's fine then. Using Windows 7 Home edition, with a cable modem.

Minimum Version Of IE11 In Order To Display In Enterprise Mode

0
0

Can someone tell me what the minimum version of IE11 is in order to display in Enterprise Mode? I was informed that this was changed back in October 2015. All of the Windows 7 computers in our environment have had IE11 for a while now. However, I was given a list of computers that have IE11 but the versions are below what they need to be in order to use Enterprise Mode, for example11.00.9600.16428.

I was given the task of finding a KB or cumulative update to apply to computers that will update the versions.

Please advise!

IE stops responding with SharePoint Online

Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 stops responding after entering login details in SharePoint Online site at https://domain.sharepoint.com.

I have tried:

- Clearing Internet Explorer cache.

- Resetting Internet Explorer Advanced settings.

- Uninstalling then reinstalling Internet Explorer under Windows Features.

- Running an sfc /scannow scan.

What else can I try?

https://domain.sharepoint.com opens ok within Chrome, however the user wants to use Internet Explorer.

IE won't prompt to save password credentials

0
0

Last week, I got a request from a few users if it is possible to make IE prompt to save user credentials when the users logged into a website.

I did some testing on my local machine with the following browsers:

-IE 11, I got prompted by IE whether I want to save my user credentials
-Google Chrome, the same thing as IE 11 which worked as expected

I then shifted over to the production environment where IE 10 is being used and I did not get prompted if I wanted to save any credentials.

So that leads me to believe that IE 10 could be misconfigured or should be configured in an other way.

Is it possible to force prompts from IE 10 to be shown to the users?

Note: IE 10 will soon be updated to IE 11 or Edge when we migrate to 2012 R2, so it is also possible to wait untill the migration has been completed.
