IE 11 link opens both a new blank window and a new tab window

$

I use the following html and javascript in an <A> onclick() handler to always open a new window.

<A onclick="OpenMyWin()" target="MyWin" href="(url to htm page)">My Win Link</A>

where the OpenMyWin() function uses window.open():

function OpenMyWin(){
var  myWin= open("", "MyWin", "width=990,height=350,scrollbars=no,resizable=yes" );
myWin.focus();
}

I tried using the url instead of "" for the open(), but then it always opens only in a tab.

I've tried the various IE Tabs options.

This works on some systems (Win7, WS2008R2), but on a new install of WS2008R2 and WS2012R2 it always brings up both when I click the anchor link.

The doctype for the page is <!DOCTYPE html>

What I want to happen is that the link opens in the window where about:blank is opening, (and with the content displayed and not blank), and not in the tab. Instead I'm getting a blank new window AND the content in a new Tab.

Is this a problem with IE or the html/javascript ?

I have created the site list using Enterprise Mode Site List manager and saved the XML file to the following location "C:\EnterpriseMode\Sites.xml". I have also enabled the two GPO Settings for Enterprise mode. Below  are the  screen shots of the current settings.

I am able to  turn on Enterprise Mode manually by going to the  Tools Menu and Selecting Enterprise Mode  but when  thr to use Site list  without turning on Enterprise Mode Manually it seems that site list is being ignored, therefore application is not opening in Enterprise Mode.

Google Maps Internet Explorer 11 with TMG Proxy Server extremely slow

We have a situation where we have a number of users running IE 11 on Windows 7 , 8 and 8.1. When using Google Maps. The maps fail to render and show the grid lines when zooming in and scrolling across. When I untick 'Use Proxy Server' in Windows Internet Settings, maps will work fine. We use TMG server for a proxy. Maps works in Chrome as expected.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Certificate error (revocation check)

Hello,

Currently, when users are trying to Export a SharePoint List to Excel, they receive a certificate warning message then it fails with an error “Cannot connect to server at this time.” – On investigation, it seems this is a known issue with internet Explorer and SharePoint. Within IE, on the “Advanced” tab -> Internet Explorer setting – there is an attribute “Check for server certificate revocation” – if this is checked, then this can cause the issue being experienced.  Currently, it is checked and I have been able to prove that disabling the setting, resolves the issues – so that SharePoint Lists can be Exported to Excel successfully.

we’d need to look at the group policy for the "Check for Server Certificate Revocation" setting..... I am hopeful that it can be changed just for the SharePoint teamsite URL, as opposed to for ALL websites.

So is it possible to disable this setting for individual websites?

I'm not sure if it could be related but we have Sophos UTM 9 - and it's caused us IE setting issues in the past.

Thanks all!

IE11 Gripes

Hi Folks,

I'm planning an automated roll-out of IE11. Maybe I'm missing something but it appears to me that MS haven't been very helpful with providing us with a package that will minimize the disruption to end users.

Here are my observations thus far.

1. After installing IE11 Enterprise mode wasn't available. After a lot of digging I found out it only comes with certain versions. If you download the IE11 installer direct from MS (as of August 31 2015) and deploy it you won't get Enterprise Mode until you install an upgrade patch.

2. Upgrade KB2929437 will enable Enterprise Mode. However, it comes as an MSU file which, unlike a conventional updates doesn't extract to a CAB file. So this is not IEAK friendly.

3. From my own experience and that of others who used IEAK 11 to create an MSI installer, it appears the per-requisate updates I've set to install before the IE11 install are ignored. The installer still tries to update via the Internet

4. When the IE11 pre-req patches are installed a restart is needed before the IE11 installer can kick off (same post as above).  This makes an automated deployment very difficult.There is a suggestion of using DISM in the post above but there isn't consensus that you can get away without restarting.

.zip attachment fails to download

Hi All,

In IE9 or IE11, when I try to download a .zip file it downloads fine but is not getting recognized by WinRAR. There is no extension and Windows doesn't know what to do with this. The same file gets downloaded fine and is recognized if downloaded from Chrome or Firefox.

I want to know what settings in IE(if any) might be causing this?

It is important there are many systems on IE and can't immediately shift to any alternate browser.

When downloaded from Firefox this file recognizes its original extension;

The same file when downloaded from IE 11 doesn't recognize its Extension.

The same behavior occurs for any file downloaded from any source.

Please advise.

Enterprise mode for site develpment

Hi

we have a website that support IE and other platforms

lately we started to get some complains from IE11 customers on Windows 10 that can't get the website to load on their PCs

as we're trying to do our best to have the website compatible for IE11, we know that run our website in compatibility mode \ enterprise mode overcomes the compatibility issue.

my question is - until we get the full compatibility, instead of having all the customers call us and complain and get instructions,  is there's something we can do from our side to force IE11 clients to run on compatibility mode \ enterprise mode when they enter our website?

thanks

Microsoft SSRS 2012 RSClientPrint ActiveX component doesn't install/run within IE 11

All,

We are running into an issue, where we see that the "print" button as available on the Microsoft Reporting Server site does not work on our Windows 7/8.1 systems. When pressing the button, a popup appears with the message "Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled, or try using Internet Explorer for  the desktop."

I have added the site to trusted sites, and allowed download and run of signed ActiveX controls, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155874(v=sql.110).aspx ).

I have configured the ActiveX Installer service, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631688(v=ws.10).aspx). After that action I see in the eventlog the following:

The ActiveX control http://server/Reports/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?ReportSession=ao4hl1rhljvuac45oppnij55&Culture=1043&CultureOverrides=False&UICulture=9&UICultureOverrides=False&ReportStack=1&ControlID=e667391f2e7b4fa48db718cdfe60e61c&OpType=PrintCab&Arch=X86 from host URL http://mesbrouwen passed all policy checks.

....seems like the ActiveX object is marked as "ok"... but even then the file is not installed. Looking at a Process Monitor dump, I see the cab-file (RSClientPrint-x86.cab) is downloaded, but never reaches "Windows\Downloaded Program Files".

I would like to avoid having to deploy the component using a package. Does anyone have an idea? (googling around didn't provide me any answers that work for me -> which where the options mentioned above)

Help is greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Sjoerd

The subject message pops up any time I attempt to open my IE8 browser using Windows XP and set to my home page "ATT.Yahoo". When I click "OK" in the message, IE closes and tries to recover, but with the same results each time. I know there is a method to reset IE9, but can't tell if it also pertains to IE8 since it can't be opened.

Google search issues on IE11

$

Hi,

Some of our users are complaining that on Windows 7 on IE11, when they open the google homepage and type in keywords to search, it just resets the page and they have to re-type it again to return the search results.

Effectively, they have to re-type the search words twice. This isn't happening on IE8.

We have even removed the so-called buggy "KB3038314" but it didn't fix the issue.

Anyone experienced similar issues and got it fixed?

IE 11 crashes on setting required level in dynamics CRM 2013 hosted

Internet Explorer crashes whenever I try to setRequiredLevel for a field in dynamics CRM 2013 hosted org. Below is the code which is causing issue.

try{if(Xrm.Page.getAttribute("new_cvv")!=null){Xrm.Page.getAttribute("new_cvv").setRequiredLevel("required");}}catch(e){ alert(e.toString());}

I have tried using setTimeOut but it did not worked. There is no debug information about this. I have updated IE 11 to 11.0.3 but it also went in vain. This code is running fine in IE 10 or there browsers. I am running windows 8. Kindly help me I am stuck on this.

Scripts not running?

I'm having problems with some scripts it appears. For example, on Tripadvisor I cannot use the search field at the top of the page. I can type in the field, but whenever I click Search, nothing happens. I hover over the Search button and the colour changes, so it knows where the cursor is, but clicking it does nothing. In addition when I type in the field, I need to manually remove the "What are you looking for?" text, whereas on other browsers that is automatically cleared.

Another example is Microsoft.com. If I browse to https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/kb/308260, all I see is the Microsoft | Support logo, with a grey banner underneath indicating language "English (Australia)", Terms of use, Privacy & cookies, Trademarks.

In both of these scenarios, I have emulated IE10 from the developer tools (in addition to disabling script debugging in Internet Options) and came across some Access Denied errors but it's not clear what is being denied.

I really have no idea what's going on. JavaScript appears to be enabled to me - Active Scripting is enabled and any JavaScript sites that allow me to test it seems to indicate that it is enabled OK. I have pasted some of the output from the F12 console if it helps any.

 Tripadvisor.com:

setStorage:function(u){r=u;this.enabled=q()}};k.localStorage=c;if(typeof window!=="undefined"){k.localStorage.setStorage(window.localStorage)}}

The first bolded item (r=u) is highlighted red, while the second bolded item is highlighted yellow

Microsoft.com

{return l.unshift(i),n[i]=y,n[i]=t(i)}catch(r){throw n[i]===y&&delete n[i],r;}

The first bolded item is highlighted red again while the second is yellow.

Regarding proxy server authentication

$

This question is not at all about proxy configuration. It is about proxy authentication. In my college, we use the campus LAN network, where the first thing which opens after opening the browser (which should actually open) is ironport authentication from the proxy server where I have to enter my user id and password.

The problem is that Internet explorer tries to connect to the proxy server after some redirections but doesn't prompt for authentication, leading to error. I have to start firefox for the same as it gives no problem, still want to use IE 11.

The page which should open is some https connection to ironport but rather asks to fix connection errors.

Any help will be appreciated.

Explorer bars in Internet Explorer 10/11 64 bit operating system

$

While testing our WEB application using IE10 on Windows 7 operating System, we have found the difference between Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit operating system because of which we are seeing application behaves differently with respect toexplorer bars.

We are using customized explorer bar.

We have installed our 32 bit application in Windows 7 (64 bit) operating system with IE10.

Problem description

Application installed in Windows 7 64 BIT Operating System.

Multiple users will be created in the machine where application is installed.

We see that whenever a new user(Standard User account) created and logged into the workstation, Explorer bar isNOT loading until weremove the following registry keys.

  • Computer->HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer->Discardable->PostSetup->Component Categories->{00021493-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
  • Computer->HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer->Discardable->PostSetup->Component Categories->{00021494-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
  • Computer->HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer->Discardable->PostSetup->Component Categories64->{00021493-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
  • Computer->HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Explorer->Discardable->PostSetup->Component Categories64->{00021494-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

Application installed in Windows 7 32 BIT Operating System.

We are NOT facing this issue. Application is working as expected. We no need to delete any registry keys.

From the MICROSOFT site, we  have understood the reason for this issue is theEnumeration cache.

Following is the reference link

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/cc144099(v=vs.85)

NOTE :

The same setup of our application is working without any issue in Windows 7 32 bit operating system.

Also We observed the same issue in other versions of IE(8 and 9) as well.

Now the question is Enumeration cache happens only in 64 bit version of windows?
Is 32 bit operating system have any different way for the enumeration cache?

Where to find information about my Internet Explorer installed version?

XTSAC control "not installed"- where to find it?

$

This add-on is not my Manage Add-ons list, so I can't enable it. I've looked on the rest of the PC and come up blank there also. Where can I find (or download) it, and I suppose more to the point, why do I suddenly need it when I haven't before? Searches for its name bring up mostly hits that don't contain it, so I suspect I'm out of my depth trying to figure out what I'm even looking for. Many many thanks for any clues.
