IEAK 9 Custom Toolbar Settings Not Applied

$
0
0

We initially thought this was something caused by GPO, but we have tried the application we built with IEAK 9 on a fresh image which was not joined or connected to the domain and we still have the same problem...

We've configured the application to show the Favorites Bar, Command Bar, etc... after upgrading from IE8 to IE9. No matter how we apply the upgrade (manual local install, SCCM Application Push, SCCM Task Sequence), the toolbars do not show until after an admin has logged on and then logged off the machine.

The big problem with this is that we are going to deploy this to thousands of devices and without these custom settings our Service Desk will be inundated by callers wanting to know where their toolbars went. Sure, it is an easy fix, but we do not want the Service Desk to bear this weight. We are feeling pretty defeated and beginning to wonder if this is normal and we are just trying to go against the grain by not requiring an admin to logon and then logoff before the changes take hold?

We were using internet explorer 9 in our production environment but then client requirement came for Internet Explorer 11 so we manually installed internet explorer 11 on that machine running windows server 2008 r2 with sharepoint 2010.we also installed KB3008923 update for internet explorer 11.But since when we installed internet explorer 11 with this update the vertical scrollbar which was coming on our sites has disappeared.

We installed KB3008923 update for internet explorer 11 because without it in Internet Explorer 11 there was no DOM Explorer in IE Developer Toolbar.

Require urgent help.

IE 11 update KB3049563 (replaced KB3038314 from April) breaks SSRS 2008R2 parameters

$

0

We're using IE 11 on Windows 7 and Reporting Services 2008R2;  both KB3038314 from last month and the replacement KB3049563 for IE11 released yesterday cause SSRS parameters to run abysmally slowly if one of the parameters presents the user a long pick-list and allow multi-select.

If the number of values in the param list are decreased (say, less than 500), or if only a single value is allowed to be selected from the list, the param selection behaves normally.  But if there's a long multi-select picklist in the params (delay appears proportional to the number of choices in the list), it takes several minutes for the pick list to become active.  In the meantime, the entire parameter pane is disabled, causing most users to believe the report is frozen and they abort.

Neither Chrome nor Firefox exhibit this behavior for the same report on the same report server.  Behavior is normal when the report is run in the Visual Studio development environment.  The undesirable behavior is specific to IE 11 (no idea whether earlier versions of IE might be affected).  Removal of the patch on the client workstation restores normal behavior.

This is a serious problem in our environment, and the problem seems to be under-reported.  Is anyone at Microsoft actively investigating this issue and working on a resolution?

Setting internet zones via GPP and registry keys in IE 10 and 11

It looks like IE 10 and 11 on a 64 bit OS now look in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains section instead of the WoW6432Node equivalent when setting specific zones via GPP and registry keys.  Does a 64bit OS now use the 64bit version of IE by default?  Has anyone else seen this issue?  Only setting a zone in WoW6432Node will cause pages in that zone to not load at all.

IE freegames into compatibility mode and doesn't work properly IE10 on Win 7 SP1 X64

Hello,

I seem to have an issue getting Internet Explorer to function properly after imaging a computer.

I have fully uninstalled IE10 and reinstalled. Our infrastructure is not yet ready for IE11 deployment.

I have tried everything in IE10 including\ an uninstall reverting back to IE8 (which works properly) then when I re-install IE10 it doesn't work again.

Here are the symptoms.

OS: Windows 7 Pro Service Pack 1 N X64-bit
8GB RAM.
120GB SSD

Symptoms, some websites appear unaffected such as microsoft.com or google.ca however other websites such as java.com or ninite.com will not work properly. Most of the page is left blank, only basic images are working.(screen

Screenshots of ninite.com and java.com when trying to visit page plus error message about internet trying to display the webpage in compatibility mode and failing. Further please note that this occurs even if compatibility mode is disabled.

Here are the things I have tried and didn't work:

Update Java

Update Flash player

Update Silverlight

Update .net framework

Update windows update (keeping IE10).

Reset internet explorer settings / restore advanced settings etc.

Reboot/reimage with same image and issue persists.

Uninstall IE10 from list of updates and revert back to IE8 (IE8 works well), then when IE10 is installed again the issues occur again.

Other than these issues the computer appears to be working, this is a straight up issue I have right after imaging the computer with SCCM. I am trying to resolve the issue on one computer so I can then apply the solution permanently on all future images.

Re-image the computer using an image made in SCCM.

Clearly there is something wrong with the image, however I was wondering if anyone dealt with this before and if someone may or may not have a solution to the problem.

Here is what works:

Reverting back to IE8, or upgrading to IE11 (IE9 untested). Both are unacceptable as I need to keep IE10 for now.

Installing another browser (Firefox Chrome). We have some legacy portal based websites that require IE10 to work.

Thanks for any help.

Will upload images when my account is verified.

Hi,

It have been set the following option on IIS7.5:

  • name: Cache-Control, value: no-cache
  • name: Pragma, value: no-cache
  • name: Expires, value: -1

Those setting works on IE9 which IE9 don't store any Cache of the website,

However,

IE11 store the page file with Expire-Date = Current Time - 1 hrs,

Are there anything can stop IE Caching. Thanks alot.

Bypass Proxy for Local Addresses - Office 365 connection/ Outlook 2010

$

This is a strange one.  Connectivity to Office 365 within our netwotk works fine although very slow for outlook 2010 client to initially connect. Once connected, it works ok.  I have done a netwotk trace using netmon to see if i can identify the reason for the slow startup (2 mins minumum for profile to load and for outlook to connect to exchange). The trace tell me that my local pc tries to make a direct connection to the office365 external IPs first, then tries the TMG proxy. Once it hits the proxy, it kicks into life and works.

So it looks to me like it thinks the external IP address of office 365 is an internal address and spends it time trying all the ip addresses until it trys the proxy.  At this point, theBypass Proxy Server for Local Addresses is ticked.

As soon as i untick this box, all traffic heads directly to the proxy and of course it connects like lighting.  The exchange settings proxy is set in outlook for "on fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP" (tick is on) and the same for slow networks.

I cant for the life of me work out why it tries to connect directly to the external IPs first and not connect via TMG until i untick theBypass Proxy Server for Local Addresses

Would love any ideas that may assist.

IE 11 will not install error code 9C57 - IE9 can not be removed or upgraded - Windows 7 SP1

hello there I have come to the same problem (accept the error about language pack). Can't install IE11 while W7 SP1 seems to be running fine with working ver. IE9. I read and followed many suggestions here in MS support and forums. PC meets all requirements in  MSsupport /kb/2872074 but one. The part about uninstalling IE9! When I get to View installed updates in the left pane. the Pane is blank nothing comes up. therefore can not remove IE9. How can I remove IE9 and upgrade to IE11?

Other steps already taken: removed AV, tried to re-install IE9 then IE10 and IE11 from download and from latest file. at the end of an  install attempt of IE11 is error  Code 9c57. Tried both in clean boot and normal. Even in Safe Mode w/ network. (MS should design ALL apps to install /uninstall in the Safe Mode!!! for troubleshooting purposes and when a virus hits the PC - Just sain'). Ran MS FixIt. Ran chdsk and sfc commands.

Anything else? or start using 3rd party browsers? Thank you

I have a user that when they try to log into Duke Progress Energy's website at https://www.progress-energy.com/app/loginregistration/login.aspx it will redirect them to a "one time authentication" page which requires them to use a one-time key to log in on a new computer.  When going to this one-time website (secure8.i-doxs.net) it will get an error message that says...

This page can't be displayed

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in the Advanced settings and try connecting to https://secure8.i-doxs.net again.  If this error persists, contact your site administrator.

Well, I'm the site administrator and I can confirm that TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are all enabled and forced by GPO.  Restarting IE and rebooting did not help.  Chrome and Firefox both work flawlessly.

Edit: This is IE 11 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

KB3038314 & ECP Mailbox List

We are having problems using Exchange 2010 ECP on IE8/9/10 after applying update KB3038314 - When you go to "Manage my organization" IE will lock up trying to load a list of mailboxes.

This doesn't happen if KB3038314 isn't installed or when using firefox.  Is anyone else  having this issues?

Is there any way to reset the ie settings to default with commands or bat files or reg files?

Sometimes, people find that they must download the pdf files to open them. Or they cannot open the pdf files with clicking the links in IE directly. So I want to know that is there any way to reset the ie to default state with commands or bat files or reg files? For the man cannot and hate to use the reset button in the IE browse. Is there a way to create a shortcut on desktop, double click it and the IE state will be reset to default.

Prevent Internet Explorer caching of text/xml responses from ASP.Net application

$
0
0

I am experiencing the following problem:
We have an ASP.Net 4.0 application hosted on an IIS 7.5 instance.
The ASP.Net application is returning XML responses with MIME type
text/xml.
We would like to avoid browser caching of these responses from Internet Explorer. The reason for this is to avoid flooding the disk with cache files (has proved to be a problem) as a large number of requests are made towards the ASP.Net application. Also it does not make sense to cache these XML responses as each response will differ from the previous.

For text/html responses it appears setting the HTTP response header Cache-Control = no-cache prevents local caching by Internet Explorer, however for text/xml adding Cache-Control = no-cache to the HTTP response header does not appear to have any effect. Adding Cache-Control = no-store to the HTTP header does not appear to work either. Testing have been performed for IE9 and IE11 with the same result.

Does anyone know if it is simply a limitation of IE that text/xml caching cannot be prevented? If so any suggested workarounds will be much appreciated.

Internet Explorer 11 - Emulation Document Mode and User Agent String Drop Down Menu Blank

Hey

I have a user who has a problem with Internet Explorer 11 where when you go to emulation mode using F12, the Document Mode and User Agent String Drop Down Menu are both blank. On our internal website its works correctly but on all other external websites they are both blank.

I have had a look at the link below but this did not help as it would not recreate some of the registry keys.

Fault occurrene  commenced 9.30 am uk time 6th May
Event ID 131:  this event is occurring on hundreds of windows operating systems at my place of work and throughout the community.  Metadata staging is failing because the Microsoft link in the registry is malfunctioning.
The Microsoft url has somehow become corrupt on your server and no one can connect to that url it is dead and needs an urgent prolevel repair.

this error is generated by the registry key: HKEY-Local-Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Device Metadata:

In this registry is the url required to connect to Windows Metadata

This link should forward to:  http://dmd.metaservices.microsoft.com/dms/metadata.svc.  It is not forwarding therefore all windows operating systems are being flooded with event id 131  meta data staging failed, because the link is malfunctioning the hardware and devices update is generating the errors.  Needs fixing,  please point us all in the right direction to get Microsoft to fix this please

please advise me this issue will be sent to the relevant department.  There are many users on community sites wondering why there systems are suddenly being flooded with metadata errors.

How can I change IE10's default browser mode to IE8?

$

My company is a little outdated and IE8 is the only compatible browser that I can use for my job.  I just had to get a new computer and it has windows 8.  I know if I open up IE10 and press F12 I can then change the browser mode from IE10 to IE8, but I have to do that for every window.  Is there a way to change it to where it defaults to IE8 mode?

Just to be clear what I am basically saying is I have to user internet explorer for my job, there is no alternative.  I am also saying that if the browser is not IE 8 or in IE 8 mode, it won't work at all.  I am trying to find a way where I don't have to manually change it to IE 8 mode everytime I open a new tab or window on Internet Explorer.

Please help!
Thank you

Kyle

P.S. I have seen this kind of question asked before and seen this answer:

Hi,

there is Quirks, Near Standards and Standards modes.... the Document and Browser modes are for testing purposes...visitors to your sites should not have to consider what browser or version they are using... code to standards and offer fallbacks for browser versions that don't support the features of your website.

for any web page validate you web pages with a valid document type and correct the errors to allow the web browser to parse and render the document in 'Standards' mode.... Different IE version are capable of (have been programmed for) different releases (versions) of (x)html. IE8 and higher are capable of displaying validated in Standards mode... IE8, IE9 and IE10 have different error corrections and symbol tables and various levels of implementation of the css2 and 3 specs. (see w3c.org)

I have absolutely no idea what any of that means, and it doesn't seem to be answering my question.  Just wanted to clarify that this answer would not help me, or that I don't understand it.

Script errors when opening Developer Tools (F12)

$

Since we upgraded our office computers to IE11, several people now get script errors whenever they open the Developer Tools (F12).  We're all on Win7 Pro and have the same updates installed.  The difference seems to be that those of us who have admin rights do not get any errors.

There are 6 errors that popup sequentially.  The errors all start with "An error has occurred in the script on this page."  The first two error messages are:

Error: Expected ':'     URL: res://C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\F12Resources.dll/23/pluginhost/plugin.f12.js"

Error: Object doesn't support this action    URL: res://C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\F12Resources.dll/23/header/HeaderMerged.js

I've tried resetting IE (Internet Options-->Advanced-->Reset).  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE11.

Short of making everyone else admins, what else I should try?

IE does not post Form body when using Web API and AngularJS

When I do an http post in angular JS (using IE 11), the OAuthValidateClientAuthenticationContextform body does not contain any data at ValidateClientAuthentication.

Note that this works perfectly well with Chrome and Firefox. If I open the debugger and switch to IE 9, It works but when I close the debugger, it switches to IE 11 and stops working.

Any ideas appreciated!
