HOW TO DISABLE "VIEW AND TRACK YOUR DOWNLOADS" IN IE9

Why does Microsoft make everything so complicated.  The pop-up "View and Track your downloads" in IE 9 is a nuisance.  No matter if I click Open or Save, THE FILE DOES NOT OPEN FROM MY DESKTOP.  How can I disable this box and allow my files to open from my desktop?

Internet Explorer 11 constantly causes screen flickering with Windows 8.1

My screen is constantly flickering and sometimes tabs go blank (white) for no reason while using IE11 with Windows 8.1.  This does not happen with other browsers.  My resolution and refresh rate for my monitor are both set to recommended settings and my Windows and drivers are all up to date.

Internet Explorer 11 Enterprise Mode, enable for all website in one folder wildcard

Hello,

is it possible to enable IE11 Enterprise Mode for a whole web application like the following:

WebSites:

http://testwebserver/application1/default.aspx

http://testwebserver/application1/help.aspx

http://testwebserver/application1/about.aspx

http://testwebserver/TESTXXXXXTEST/default.aspx

Is it possible to use a wildcard for application1 so that all sites in this folder open with IE11 Enterprise Mode (IE8)?

I tried it already with * (wildcard) but it did not work. Is this supported? I did not find any information regarding this.

Thanks

Not able to work on Helix application with IE 11

This is an application on Agile PLM for Process (Prodika) which has been working well so far on IE 9. We have plans to migrate to IE 11 and have been experiencing some trouble while testing on IE 11. The text boxes look distorted, the fields don't have visible boxes against them (they appear only after clicking at random places).

We have a finding - The XML file that is used to apply enterprise/document mode is not being interpreted correctly by IE11. It successfully sets Enterprise Mode, but is unable to apply document mode. The XML structure is generated by your Microsoft application, enterprise mode sitelist manager. Checked the XML it generates and it complies with the standards found from Microsoft’s site.

We can however approach this from the application side instead of the browser side. By adding the following meta tag to the master page for Helix, the browser will switch to the correct document mode.

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=7" />

The caveat, this will also impact IE9 and IE 11 instead of just IE11. IE9 will attempt to render in document mode 7. IE9& IE11 would handle that emulation differently.

Question - If we go ahead and add this meta tag, what are the implications on IE 9 again? Can you give the full version information. Please let us know your suggestion on this.

microsoft visual c++ runtime library error problem

Hello everybody!

It's impossible for me to open Internet Explorer, because when I open it, it immediately says:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe

Whatever I try, nothing works. I can only click on the icon from Internet Explorer and after that comes the pop-up. Even when I press the windows button + R, type: inetcpl.cpl and click on 'ok'. Even then it wasn't possible to fix it, because even then it shows the pop-up from above. I have no idea how to fix this anymore, so I hope that somebody here can help me with fixing my problem.

The windows I use is Windows Vista and I use Internet Explorer 9.

Connection failure

This is not an off-topic post. It is about my network issue.

https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/login.action?request_locale=en_US

You see the above URL? I was unable to get to the Sony Entertainment Network sign in page because it took to long to load. I currently have a PS4 and did a connection test, but did not connect to the server and can't sign in. I have a PlayStation Network account.

I tried to see if the URL works on my Samsung Galaxy S4, but still no luck. So, I went to my computer and tried it in Internet Explorer, and still the same thing. I ran Windows Network Diagnostics and finds the following problem:

I tried it in Google Chrome, and still the same issue:

I tested it in Firefox and still the same error:

The connection has timed out

The server at account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com is taking too long to respond.

  • The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
  • If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
  • If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

It is caused by my AT&T U-verse based modem. I contacted AT&T for help, and DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!! I need help!!

Internet Exporer 11: Disable search from address bar (entirely)

$

When we try to use internal websites (sites like hostname.some.subdomain.com:NNNN/some/path/ ) internet explorer 11 shows autocomplete entries for previous visits to those websites, but, when selected, it then searches bing for those URLs, and that makes very little sense to do.

it's an address bar. it's where addresses are typed in. I don't want internal website addresses (frankly, any website addresses) to turn into a bing search. I don't search from the address bar. Ever. In previous versions I could disable that, and in this version that option seems to have been replaced with "go directly if a single word is typed in [intranet site like "home" or "intranet" or "sharepoint", etc.] ", but that doesn't disable the search feature enough to avoid still continuing to search when internal websites are entered/selected in the address bar.

Is there some other place to disable the search, so that addresses typed into the address bar work?

EMIEsitelist and EMIEuserlist hidden directories and dat-files

EmieSiteList and EmieUserList

Microsoft Security - Privacy Concerns

I found two unknown directories on my PC in my user profile.  I have, so far, been unable to identify what put them there, which process owns them, and when I delete them (using Admin escalated privileges) they come back after a few minutes or immediately after reboot.

     c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\EmieSitelist\container.dat

     c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\EmieUserlist\container.dat

     C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\container.dat

     C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserlist\container.dat

It was time, anyway, so I wiped the drive using factory low-level overwriting and performed a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro using a freshly downloaded ISO from Microsoft; one with an ESD distribution, written to a new just out-of-the-bedamned-hardshell-plastic flashdrive..

I just completed the clean install, in this sequence:

Boot to flashdrive and let Windows create partitions then install.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Activate.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Run first Update; install everything except Bing Bar and Desktop.    Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Add Feature Windows Media Center.  Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Run Updates a second time.  Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Remove MS C++ v12 x86 and x64 installed during Update.    Check AppData; no folders found.  Reboot.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Download from MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/default) Redistributables MS C++ x86 and x64, 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012.4 versions, and install in sequence.  Check AppData after each install; no folders found.  Reboot after each install and check AppData; no folders found.

Run Updates a third time.  Response was No Updates Available.  Check AppData; no folders found.

Reboot.  Check AppData; all four sub-directories are now present.

These sub-directories and dat-files are not, so far, present in the AppData\Roaming directory.

There is nothing except Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro WMC and the 10 MS C++ packages installed; and MS Silverlight and AMD (videocard) Catalyst Control Center on the machine.  Windows Defender is present but is installed as part of Windows 8 and 8.1; and its' updates are provided via the MS Update process.  All - repeat ALL of these items are provided by Microsoft.

My questions are:  What are the Emie directories for; what program created them, and what does the various container.dat files "contain"?  And . . . if not absolutely necessary, How do I get rid of them and keep them from coming back?

First attempt at Solution:

Permissions are Full for System, USERNAME, and group Administrators.  The USERNAME is the Owner, and Effective Permissions for each of the 3 is Full.

Open Command Prompt (Admin)

C:\Windows\system32>cd\

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieSiteList\container.dat

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieSiteList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieUserList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EmieUserList\container.dat

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList\container.dat

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieUserList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList

C:\>attrib -r -h +s C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\EmieSiteList\container.dat

C:\>

BOTH Files and Directories are no longer Hidden.  The Directories still show that the files within are READ-Only, but checking the actual file shows that it is no longer R-O.

I then deleted each of the 4 directories and  closed Windows (File) Explorer.

After less than 3 minutes reading pages on the internet (at Microsoft's Ask Windows Community), I opened Windows Explorer to check and found that the sub-directories had re-created themselves in both the Local and LocalLow directories.

The container.dat files were back in the Local sub-dir and after another few minutes, also back in the LocalLow sub-dir.

Both the sub-directories and the container.dat files are once again Super-Hidden.

Analysis using Windows utilities and SysInternals and NirSoft tools have not identified which object or process or service owns these objects.

ADDED:  My system is a home system, not connected to any work domain via VPN or otherwise.  WHY is the Windows Update Team not spending time to implement condition-and-error-checking to ensure that unneeded updates, services, and changes are not made without the system owner/operator permission?  Further, WHY is this particular issue so hard to find info about; what is being kept from customers and why?

IE freegames into compatibility mode and doesn't work properly IE10 on Win 7 SP1 X64

Hello,

I seem to have an issue getting Internet Explorer to function properly after imaging a computer.

I have fully uninstalled IE10 and reinstalled. Our infrastructure is not yet ready for IE11 deployment.

I have tried everything in IE10 including\ an uninstall reverting back to IE8 (which works properly) then when I re-install IE10 it doesn't work again.

Here are the symptoms.

OS: Windows 7 Pro Service Pack 1 N X64-bit
8GB RAM.
120GB SSD

Symptoms, some websites appear unaffected such as microsoft.com or google.ca however other websites such as java.com or ninite.com will not work properly. Most of the page is left blank, only basic images are working.(screen

Screenshots of ninite.com and java.com when trying to visit page plus error message about internet trying to display the webpage in compatibility mode and failing. Further please note that this occurs even if compatibility mode is disabled.

Here are the things I have tried and didn't work:

Update Java

Update Flash player

Update Silverlight

Update .net framework

Update windows update (keeping IE10).

Reset internet explorer settings / restore advanced settings etc.

Reboot/reimage with same image and issue persists.

Uninstall IE10 from list of updates and revert back to IE8 (IE8 works well), then when IE10 is installed again the issues occur again.

Other than these issues the computer appears to be working, this is a straight up issue I have right after imaging the computer with SCCM. I am trying to resolve the issue on one computer so I can then apply the solution permanently on all future images.

Re-image the computer using an image made in SCCM.

Clearly there is something wrong with the image, however I was wondering if anyone dealt with this before and if someone may or may not have a solution to the problem.

Here is what works:

Reverting back to IE8, or upgrading to IE11 (IE9 untested). Both are unacceptable as I need to keep IE10 for now.

Installing another browser (Firefox Chrome). We have some legacy portal based websites that require IE10 to work.

Thanks for any help.

Will upload images when my account is verified.

Unable to reinstall internet explorer after failure

Hello,

I deployed  IE 11 on lot of windows 7 computers (~2000). I have used (SCCM + a package created with IEAK). On 93% of computers, IE11 works fine. However, on the 7% remaining of these computers, Internet Explorer has not been installed.

Why ? Because the prerequisite (KB) was missing.

After installation of these prerequisite, I want to restart the MSI package... but it doesn't work ! And, nothing in IEMain.log...

If you have any ideas...

I have suggested that a blank blue page occurs when navigating to the above URI. About:mozilla does not do anything; instead it navigates to res://ieframe.dll/navcancl.htm.

Below is the page where it displays a blank blue page:

And of course, a Navigation Canceled error:

Navigating to about:mozilla will only work with Mozilla Firefox, not just MSIE.

Google search impossible to download !

Hello everyone,

It's been a few months that I am unable to install the Google search (in add-ons) for internet explorer. I find myself to use Bing... and you can say what you want, but Bing is impossible for me especially since it is not only me but all my business. (I manage the IT park of the company)

To be more precise, this is what I do: - I'm heading in the parameter of internet explorer (the gear in the top right of internet explorer) - I click on manage add-ons - I go in search providers - Then I go to find more search providers ... - A new internet explorer opens where I can choose which provider I want to add to Internet Explorer. - I click on Google, that's the problem ... When I press on Google (or Google search), nothing happens, no message, no page opens. Nothing ...

This brings me to my question have you a solution to resolve this problem, am I doing something wrong ...? Or in the worst case, have you another way to add Google search?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
I wish you a good day.

Best Regards.

Alexander

IE 11 Enterprise Mode on Remote Desktop Server

Hi,

I've enabled IE11 Enterprise Mode and setup an XML-file on a fileshare which I've created using "Enterprise Mode Site List manager".

When I logon with my test-user and launc IE, after aprox 65 seconds I get the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\internet explorer\Main\EnterPriseMode\ CurrentVersion string updated to the current version of my XML-file. I can then browse the sites and verify that Enterprise Mode is enabled for the sites that I have specified in my XML-file

The problems I'm facing is that if I logout my user and then log back on again to the server and start IE and brwose the sites Enterprise Mode is no longer enabled for them. Also if my user has manually specified some sites for enterprise mode this does not live between sessions.

Where in the profile does IE EM store the data over which websites that are supposed to be in entprise mode? I've found under AppData\Local\ EmieSiteList and EmieUserList but theese 2 catalogs only contains "container.dat" which is 0 KB?

Anyone know? Has anyone gotten IE EM to work in RDS?

Regards

Jonas

Problems With YouTube

I use IE 11, modern UI mostly. All websites that link to YouTube play perfectly. But, I have a forum that allows YouTube videos in posts. When I view such a post, the YouTube window is just a grey blank. No response to right click, left click. double click, etc.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks, Jim

IE 11 frequently stops working.

I'm on an HP Pavilion dv7 with 4MB RAM and 542 GB of free disk space, and Windows latest home pro.

When using IE 11 it frequently stops working, gives me the pop-up window saying so, then reopens IE thus cutting off what I was doing and messing things up for me.

Should I get a fresh copy of IE 11 and, if so, how do I get that?  OR, should I get some software checking device from Microsoft to see if it's corrupted somehow?

Thanks for any help with this.
