Hello, IE 10 is running on win7.  I need to upgrade IE from 10 to 11 using powershell. When I manually upgraded it, I turned on the IE 11 service from control panel----program. Then could anybody tell me how to do it from powershell? Thanks so much.

For Windows 7 with IE version 10 and 11 local group policy (gpedit.msc) no longer has "Internet Explorer Maintenance" section.

Under User Configuration/Windows Components/Internet Explorer you can disable changing Auto-Configuration but doesn't seem to be a way to set it.

So how would you set it in that case?

Well, I’ve wasted another perfectly good hour looking for a way to download Internet Explorer 10. I can’t find it anywhere.  IE 7, 8 ,9, 11 no trouble. 10 though it appears has dropped off the face of the earth.  Does anyone have a link into an official download location for IE 10?  via premier or mvls would be fine as well.

Since we upgraded from IE10 to IE11 last week, IE11 won't stay in full-screen mode. 

This happens to several of us in the office.  We all have Windows 7 and dual monitors.  It seems to happen when IE is open in one monitor but the other monitor has the focus.  After a few minutes, IE automatically switches to maximized window mode. 

Has anyone else noticed this?  Is there a way to prevent it?

I have Reinstalled My Windows 7 OS about 4 or 5 times just to check if it was the software is not the software. What happens when I install those updates windows gets full of junk and I mean full of junk. This is never happened to me before. What happens is when I run Disk Cleanup With Windows Update Cleanup Checked I do understand it deletes old Updates but what is happening is Windows Update Keeps Re-Offering she same Updates Again an Again. My Desktop is Packard Bell Windows 7 UK2620. My PC fine I had it Checked Out By PC World here in the UK. My PC is Working fine Windows is Working fine.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on the HP Pavilion Media Center a1612n desktop computer. I have been trying to install IE11 on there forever and it will not finish all the way through. I have a old CRM system that must be run in Enterprise mode (it will be upgraded soon). The sitelist works fine through group policy, however the CRM is running on port :5555 how do I specify in the sitelist so the Enterprise mode start also on this port?

I have added the site to xml file but site list manager removes port number from url. The sites.xml file looks like this:

How can I make sitelist to force IE11 in enterprise mode on a different/specified port (or all ports) for a domain?

As long as I have been in the job and we have been using IE as our browser, we have controlled the proxy settings with an automatic configuration file.

Recently, with IE8 on WinXP and Win7, we have had situations with the user getting various connectivity errors. By unchecking the "use automatic configuration script" box, they start working. But we don't change anything else.

These error are not consistent from machine to machine.

We are in a AD Domain environment

Two very different problems. Both somehow fixed by unchecking the box.

The config file itself has not been changed in over a year.

Can anyone explain why unchecking this box, but not making any other changes to the proxy settings would fix connectivity problems? These are all external sites that need to go through the proxy.

This is brand new Windows 8.1 install, freshly installed O365 and all critical updates installed.

So I click on the gear in IE, select Manage add-ons.

This opens the Manage Add-ons window, I click on Search providers, it only shows Bing.

I click on Find more search providers... at the bottom of the window, this opens IE with a list of the search engines. I click on Google, which loads the google search page.  When I click the Add to Internet Explorer button nothing happen, nothing gets added, no message gets display, NOTHING.

I see the button wants to run a javascript, so I go back in add this site to trusted sites, thinking that will allow it to run.  Close browser, re-open, try again, same outcome .... NOTHING.

So next I go and reduce the security level to low for trusted sites, figuring this will allow the script to fire off.  No luck, still nothing.

Next I go to windows features, un check IE 11, reboot, go back in again check IE 11.  Try it again, still nothing.

Finally I installed the Google Toolbar for IE check the box for making google the default search, after install reboot, guess what .... still nothing but Bing listed in search providers.

Is there another way to repair IE 11 on Windows 8.1?  I have done this many times in the past, why now is this such an issue? Can I manually put this into the registry?

It's the ahla.org website.  It has both pdf files and Word docs.  The pdf links open in the browser or Adobe but the Word doc links open the option at the bottom of IE11 that just says "Open" or "Cancel".  When I choose open, it gives the error about policy restrictions or something similar depending on if it's Word 2007 or 2013.  If I could even find an option to have it "Save" and open after download that would be helpful.  I can right click the link and choose save as but this is an office full of attorneys and they can't find the download folder afterwards.

This isn't the issue with Chrome being installed/uninstalled because it does it on computers where it's never been installed.  It's not a group policy setting as it does it at the office or home PC.

Since we upgraded our office computers to IE11, several people now get script errors whenever they open the Developer Tools (F12).  We're all on Win7 Pro and have the same updates installed.  The difference seems to be that those of us who have admin rights do not get any errors. 

There are 6 errors that popup sequentially.  The errors all start with "An error has occurred in the script on this page."  The first two error messages are:

Error: Expected ':'     URL: res://C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\F12Resources.dll/23/pluginhost/plugin.f12.js"

Error: Object doesn't support this action    URL: res://C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\F12Resources.dll/23/header/HeaderMerged.js

I've tried resetting IE (Internet Options-->Advanced-->Reset).  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE11.

Short of making everyone else admins, what else I should try?

I noticed that the cipher strength is not displayed in the About box with the upgrade to IE 11.  In previous versions of IE however it did display there. Does IE 11 by default set the cipher strength to zero?  From research on other forums I know that you can go to tools>interent options and change settings under the Security and Advanced tabs to enable the cipher strength, but was wondering if the default for IE 11 is that the cipher strength is automatically set to zero and you'd have to go in and enable this manually.

Hello, I must be missing something simple here but I have been unable to get any page requiring Java to load in Internet Explorer 11, at least on machines running Windows 7. I have tried it with multiple machines, all fully patched and up to date and can not even get the Java Version Check page to load, I am just told that Java is disabled or not installed. The latest version of chrome, will load Java pages on the same machines (after enabling the npapi plugin flag).

IE tells me the plugins are incompatible if I run it normally, if I right click it and run it as an Administrator, then it allows me to enable the plugins but the Java Version Check site still tells me they are not installed. I have tried running the version check in compatibility mode as well as regular mode and in either case I can just not get these plugins to work.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what I might be missing here?
