crashes-some sites state to update

I got a new computer in Oct. 2014. It had IE11 & Windows 8.  It freezes, does not respond, some sites keep telling me that my browser needs updated, and that flash, and shockwave needs to be installed.  Yet when I go to update & add, I get the message that everything is current, and that I do not need flash & shockwave.

How do I get this corrected?

code 80092004 installing MS15-032 internet explorer 11 windows 7 for x64-s (kb3038314)

I'm doing a fresh install and update of windows 7 on an HP Envy laptop.  All has gone well other than a very recent WU security update for IE 11  (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3038314) which refuses to install. I have tried installing via Windows Update, and it always fails (have tried multiple times, including after OS restart) with error code 80092004.   Tried downloading and installing manually and that also failed.

Short of a VM, I cannot imagine a more pristine installation on which to run this update.  I'm really astounded it would fail, but hey when you fire your WU QA staff and quality is job none I guess this is what you get.  great job MS.

For reference I've done the following

1) Fresh install from DVD's of Win7-SP1 64 bit

2) installed chrome (rather use that than IE8)

3) using Chrome I downloaded and installed all appropriate drivers for this system directly from HP's site

4) multiple runs of Windows Update until there is nothing left to update. (this included updates to IE, which is at IE11 by the end of this process) until this one recent update showed up in last batch and refuses to update.

So, what now?  any ideas on how to get this security update to take?

PS.

Thanks so much MS for getting rid of all your windows update testers.

PDF might have been moved or deleted on some PDFs, retry works

$

When trying to Download or Open some PDFs from URLs we are getting "xxxx.pdf might have been moved or deleted" as follows:

If you choose Retry, the PDF then successfully opens.

This happens on some sites where the PDF is forced to open using the Viewer, and doesn't open in a separate Tab in IE.

This has only occurred since upgrading from IE9 to IE11 (running Windows 7).  Have tried changing IE11 to compatibility mode, using different PDF viewers (Acrobat 11 and Foxit), Using Windows 8.1 Client with IE11, and none of these has fixed the problem.

Once the download succeeds it generally succeeds on follow-up attempts as it is in the Clients Cache.

We have identified that the only way to workaround this is to bypass our Proxy server (which has been also updated, unsuccessfully to fix this very problem).  This is not a viable option and googling this very error reveals a similar unresolved result.

Using process explorer shows that the PDF is placed into the clients PC as a xxxx.partial download, and upon renaming it to xxxx.PDF, it opens successfully.  This appears that the download merely fails to validate the download properly, but I cannot expect users to perform this step.

Our web pages are very old, all the web pages are not with <!DOCTYPE>, in IE8/9, it opened with quirks mode, in IE10, it opened in quirks mode, while in IE11, it opened with "edge" mode, edge is using the latest IE version, many parts in our pages can not work, is there any work around or method?

What is the youareanidiot.org virus?

I was watching a video from ComputerVirusWatch on YouTube, which is about the youareanidiot.org virus. However, since the malicious script was removed, a simillar URL, http://youareanidiot.lima-city.de/YouAreAnIdiot.htm, was created by ComputerVirusWatch, and later redirected to the user's YouTube page. I wanted to test the bouncing part from the original URL on Internet Explorer. I also wanted to test out the pop-up part when the browser is closed. I created an HTML file to test out the "You are an Idiot" virus, but it did not work. I need a script.

Hi,

May I know if the IE Cache is domain-name based?

What if i change the ip of domain name (http://abc.com) from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.2. Is the cache override?

and it is now cached with http://abc.com/ without time-expiry or max-age information,

May i know when is cache expire, instead of clear cache?

Thanks alot.

Internet Explorer 9 Replace . with _ in downloads

We are having an issue with any downloads that we do over Internet Explorer 9.

IE is replacing the extension of the file download. Putting a (_) instead of a (.)

For example:

This:

Instead of this:

.exe

Export to Excel issue after upgrading to IE11

Hi All,

Our organization recently upgraded our Internet Explorer browser from 8 to 11 on Win7, still in pilot phase.

One of the issues that we are currently experiencing is that after the upgrade  the Export to Microsoft Excel is no longer functioning as expected. This was working fine on IE8.We are on Office 2007.

What happens now on IE11 is that when you select a table on a web-page and do an Export to Excel, a new window pops up and the address bar stays blank with just http:/// and "Page cannot be displayed" error. What's seems to be happening is that for some reason, it is not populating the address bar with the URL.

Anyone experienced similar issues and got a fix? Much appreciated.

Ochen

IE11 Crash jscript9.dll

Dear All,

I am working on a web application with some Javascript / HTML web pages accessed with IE 11 / Windows 7.

Since users have upgraded the IE version to 11.0.9600.17631 they are experiencing IE crashes 2 or 3 times a day.

The Windows event log shows the following :

Application Name IEXPLORE.EXE, version : 11.0.9600.17631, Timestamp : 0x54b31a70
Fault Module Name : jscript9.dll, version : 11.0.9600.17631, Timestamp : 0x54b32367
Exception Code : 0xc0000005
Exception Offset : 0001297b
Faulting process id : 0x848

Faulting application start time : 0x01d0781960196253
Faulting application path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
Faulting module path : C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\jscript9.dll
Report Id : f7992561-e40c-11e4-8e52-8851fb7b44d4

I have also pasted below a WER file content associated with a crash.

A few questions about this :

- Can you see what is causing the crash ?

- Is it caused by JS errors in the web application or by some mis-installed modules ?

- If the information given here is not sufficient, which type of error report shall we activate to identify the issue ?

Thank you for your help,

Best regards,

Eric MANUGUERRA

How to Document mode to EDGE by default

$

Windows 7 x64 SP1 enviroment, IE11 patched via WSUS to all Computers. In F12 developer tools, document mode is not EDGE as default. Our Customer requires to be EDGE on all Computers. This is something I´m not femiliar with and there is no Policy or Preferences to set on.

Any ideas? I´ve looked around, some suggest scripts to change it, some are talking about the new enterprice mode, but I don´t see how it helps.

My company's legitimate websites have been blocked by SmartScreen

Hi guys,

I have quite a serious problem going on at the moment. My company's legitimate websites have been blocked by Internet Explorer's "SmartScreen" and our end users are complaining.

The two sites in question are:

I find it hard to believe, that our websites can simply be blocked by this SmartScreen filter, without providing us with any evidence, or even contacting us to verify the legitimacy of our website.

We are an educational institution and are obviously in no way affiliated with any malware or phishing and in no way have our websites been spreading malware or phishing attacks.

How can Microsoft simply add our site to a "blacklist" of sorts, without properly and correctly reviewing our site to confirm what has been reported? I find this to extremely unprofessional and even be classed as defamation.

The fact that we can only "Report that this site does not contain threats" and not even contact anyone at Microsoft to confirm any details is astounding.

Does anyone know how to quickly get these false positives reversed?

Thanks,

Nino

I installed IE11 in my machine .And also we migrating all our developed application (ASP .Net/ VS 2010) to work in IE11 .

But when i open (Developer tool (F12) -> Emulation) In that ,

While selecting "User agent string" i two different option

  1. Default
  2. Internet Explorer 11

Actually what difference between this two user agent string and too i am working in .Net

And i select "IE11" as a user agent option , most of my application working flawless (design) but if i select "Default" throwing lot of design oriented bugs.

Is there setting to be made in .Net framework or anything else

Because it should work in both "Default" and "IE11" user agent string

Greetings,

We have a Windows Server 2012 R2 running Citrix XenApp 7.6

Our issue is  that IE 11 crashes from time to time for all users. We've tried disabled some plugins without success.

The eventlog says:

  Problem Event Name:    APPCRASH
  Application Name:    iexplore.exe

 Fault Module Name:    ntdll.dll

So I've collected some dump files for you to analyse, I don't know how to do that..

Dump1: https://copy.com/W1GQcgoyB6sqvlar

Dump2: https://copy.com/ZWXZr2uKd8FKj1J8

Thanks in advance!
