Can't delete favorites from IE 10 - Windows 8

Yesterday out of the blue some old pages from my favorites list reappeared.  I deleted these in the past and now they just showed up.  When I right click on them to delete them or go to organize favorites to delete them, they delete for a few seconds, but then reappear.  I try again and again, but they just keep coming back.  The "favorites bar" in my favorites list does the same thing.  I have also gone to users/profile/favorites to try and delete them and they just come back.

I've run multiple scans with my antivirus software and spybot software, but it didn't fix it.

Anyone know how to fix this or know what the problem could be?  I am not a tech guy, just an average joe, but can get around windows decently.

Thanks for your help.

Problem in loading Infopath form in IE 8 embedded web browser control in .NET Thick Client

Hi,

My issue is as described below.

We are using a .NET thick client. Client web browser control is IE 8 embedded control. Our application hangs if InfoPath form which is having many richtextboxes is loading. This is a production issue. If we copy that URL in IE 11 then it loads all controls of InfoPath form. We have done some changes to Registry to change the version to IE 11, but still no luck.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks, SS

IE 11 crashes UNLESS laptop is connected to docking station

$

Yeah, the title pretty much says it all. I've got one end user who can only run IE if the laptop is connected to the docking station. If not, IE crashes with the "IE has stopped working" generic message and you gotta end task on it. To clarify: Laptop on battery, IE crash. On ac adapter, crash. Immediately plug laptop into docking station just after it's suffered the crash, IE works fine! the only difference I see in the docking station scenario is that there would be some voltage differences on the incoming current via the pins, but why would IE be affected by that? I'm not even sure I'm right about the voltage but it's all I've thought of so far.

Laptop is a Dell latitude E6420

Windows 7 pro

IE 11

I haven't been able to look at the event viewer yet because the end-user can't give up the laptop yet (She's got firefox as a backup). I only have the information presented above, after seeing the end user for 5 minutes and getting a demonstration of the problem. When she's back from the field, I'll reset the power options back to default, bios too and/or update it. I'm posting here in the hope that it's a known issue I don't know about...

thanks!

Not get the Do you want to Open, Save, or Cancel .ICA files or simular files without IE plugin

Hi,

I have a problem with the "Always ask before opening this type of file" function in Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 8.1.

The problem is; when the Citrix receiver from Windows store is configured to open ICA files and we log into a webinterface or storefront server in IE, users  is prompted to either Open, Save or Cancel the ica file. I am not able to uncheck the "Always ask before opening this type of file" after downloading the file. I can do thios on other file types like 7z Files. For me it seems like Windows have a whitelist of safe files, and .ica is not one of them.

Is there a way to be able to have .ica files to open auto, without the plugin in IE?

Collecting Web visits or Browsing History

Hi,

I did a quick search and couldn't find this topic. If its already answered, appreciate your help to the link.

So essentially, we want to upgrade all OS clients to IE 11, we have a mix of all versions (8-11) currently and have 10K machines to deploy. Microsoft is also going away with multiple version support beginning 2016, so its critical we finish this by end of the year. However as a first step, we require to find out all web visits by employees - external is taken care because there's several proxy/gateway/filters in place to track this information. How do we track this for internal traffic? intranet links? Even a script will work that can dump browsing history from clients to a central location in csv or xls format or *.mhtml. Perhaps there is client tool that needs to sit and collect this information on every machine, any one knows?

I only need anonymous information about the web visits (say links and hits) so that I can properly test these websites. This is to ensure compatibility is set, enterprise mode in place and Edge rendering correctly (or older) so that transition from older browsers to IE 11 will be organic in nature.

After installing update KB3032359 my ActiveX controls don't install on IE11 or IE9

So basically I have an ActiveX control which previously installed using a signed cab with the following html

<object id="editor" height="100%" width="100%"
        classid="clsid:EA47DB16-9272-4CB3-A800-C369A479396A" codebase="cab\DocEditor.cab#Version=60,11,1,0" VIEWASTEXT>

It still installs correctly on a Windows 8 using IE10 version 10.0.9200.17267 10.0.25 and on Windows 7 using IE11 version 11.0.9600.17633 11.0.16

However on two Windows 7 environments one with IE11 version 11.0.9600.17691 11.0.17 and one with IE9 version 9.0.8112.16421 9.0.36 after update KB3032359 is installed it no longer does.

I get the IE prompt asking whether or not to install the signed cab followed by the UAC Windows MsgBox and I allow both but the control does not install

Why is this?

Hi!

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on the HP Pavilion Media Center a1612n desktop computer. I have been trying to install IE11 on there forever and it will not finish all the way through. I've been getting the 9C59 errors that people have been talking about on here. I will post some from the IE11 main log.

This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect....opening Word docs from link in web page

It's the ahla.org website.  It has both pdf files and Word docs.  The pdf links open in the browser or Adobe but the Word doc links open the option at the bottom of IE11 that just says "Open" or "Cancel".  When I choose open, it gives the error about policy restrictions or something similar depending on if it's Word 2007 or 2013.  If I could even find an option to have it "Save" and open after download that would be helpful.  I can right click the link and choose save as but this is an office full of attorneys and they can't find the download folder afterwards.

This isn't the issue with Chrome being installed/uninstalled because it does it on computers where it's never been installed.  It's not a group policy setting as it does it at the office or home PC.

IE11 issue on windows 10, not reproducible on other windows versions.

hi ,

we try to change the proxy setting to have a pac file , but the change does not take affect .

the scenario is :

1. IE reads the AutoConfigUrl setting, which is OK
2. IE even does not attempts to load the jsporxy.dll - a component responsible for pac file handling
3. In fact, IE even doesn't read the appropriate part of registry (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AutoProxyTypes)

It looks rather a bug in IE (or in windows installation) than something related to our product.

please advise.

thanks

IE really bites!

Why is my Chrome ALWAYS much quicker the my absolutely pathetic IE?  You would think that, after all the updates I've uploaded, at least some of them would make my IE work half way decently.

I shouldn't have to set my default to Chrome just to be able to use the internet.  But I haven't got the time or patience to wait until IE decides to do its thing. Lucky thing I have Google.

Thanks again Microsoft...

Click on Favorites, Mouse Jumps Around, IE Locks Up for 30 Seconds

Hello all,

I am having a strange problem with Internet Explorer.  I have all of the latest MS patches for everything.  When I open Internet Explorer (I have version 11), and click on my favorites icon (the star icon in the top right), IE locks up on me for about 30 seconds.  It eventually comes back after that time and everything is normal, I have access to all of my favorites.  However, if I close IE and reopen it, the same thing happens again.  If I leave it open, the issue does not seem to happen in the same instance of IE.  I have tried clearing all of my temporary files with no change.  I did a packet capture and noticed that when I click on my favorites icon, my PC ARP's for an IP address that no longer exists on my network (my private LAN) - it ARP's about 15-20 times and stops exactly when IE returns to normal.  So the two events sync up.  I did find some entries for this particular IP address under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU" and I have deleted them and rebooted.  I cannot find any reference to this IP anywhere else in the registry.  This IP address used to be a NAS drive that I had - accessed via backslash-backslash-sharename - but I decommissioned it.  I'm out of ideas here - anybody ever run into this or have any suggestions?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

What is the difference in functionality between setting as URL as "Enterprise Mode" vs "IE 8 Document Mode?"

Looks like it would be the same thing.

Automate reset of a users Internet Explorer Settings - Script?

We are in the process of rolling out IE9 on Win 7 x64 PC’s. This is going fine, however we have noticed issues that requires a complete reset of the IE settings and user files. What we need at this point after IE9 installs is to have an automated way to:

  1. Under ‘Reset Internet Explorer Settings’ do this.
  2. Delete all of the users IE cached/temp files under their App Data folder.
  3.  Back in Internet Properties, do a ‘Restore Advanced Settings.’

Looking online, there is no GPO option for this. We cannot do this on 1500+ pcs manually.  I tried looking online for scripts, but nothing could be found to meet our needs. Whatever script we can find, we would probably use SCCM so the script could run with admin rights.

Anyone experience something like the above? What was your solution or do you have a link with solid documentation on how to resolve.

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

Very specific group policy for IE 11

Got a very interesting GPO I need created. I need a GPO that forces all users on a certain machine to use InPrivate browsing at all times while they are using IE. Or even for a specific website.

I have an application that has a bug that is fixed by using private browsing, weirdly enough. To limit problems with users saying "But I did use private browsing" I would ideally like to force the use of it while they are on the machine. If I have to apply it to a specific group, that will be fine too, but the end result needs to be private browsing they cannot turn off at all.

Any suggestions? Open to Powershell solutions, or creative options.
