Per the post below I know that SSLv3 will not be supported in the near future. I am looking for the  actual date when it will no longer be supported ? Everything I find on the Microsoft website states in the near future ( OP was October 2014).

Disabling TNSv1.0 breaks compatibility with IE 9 and 10

Hello..

I'm in a bit of a dilemma with security and compatibility being at odds with each other. In order to mitigate the growing list of security problems with TLSv1, I need to disable version 1 on our server (I know how to do this, so this is not a server issue). The problem is, IE 9 and 10 do not support TLSv1.1 or TLSv1.2 by default. These can be turned on manually in Internet Options/Advanced/Security.

And there's the problem: it has to be enabled manually. Asking users to go through this process in order to use our sites will most likely end up in a lost sale. And if a customer disables something that should not be disabled in the security settings, that can lead to more problems for them.

Where's the middle solution here? Most of our traffic is on IE 10. Disabling TLSv1 will shut those customers out. Does anyone know if there's an update around the corner that might enable v1.1 and 1.2 by default?

Thank you in advance.

Favorites bar deleting links ?

I don't quite believe this, but the CEO here is having a very odd issue on his personal PC. Running IE 11, he has a 100 or so favourites filed on his favourites bar, and occasionally/randomly some of the links are reset to point to nothing... He has showed me this on several occasions, different links, sometimes in sub folders etc. I go through and repoint them to the sites they are supposed to be showing, and a week or two later a its happened to a different couple of links...

I have searched and found nothing... does anyone have a bright ideas?

Thank you

My browser history indicates I visit zen.esrvadspix.com dozens of time every day. Is there some way to determine the source of these visits in IE 11? I certainly am not initiating these visits myself.

Can't Upload large (up to 50MB) .wav files using IE 11

Hi,

I'm a website owner that allows my users to upload large music files to my site. I've noticed the uploads never work using IE. Is there a way to fix this? I know that Users can use Firefox on Windows and Safari & Firefox on OSX but IE always rejects the upload to my site. This has nothing to do with FTP, this is a system on the website where large music files (up to 50MB) are uploaded by members. If anyone knows how I can fix this problem it would be much appreciated. It's not a server issue as the uploads work in other browsers, so I assume it's a setting in IE.

My IE version is 11.0.9600

I'm technically inclined but when it comes to Browser settings or workflows I'm a novice, so if you have an answer on how I can fix this, it'd be much appreciated. Please go step by step as well.

The KB link shown in the Windows Update page for my Windows 7 x64 Enterprise machine does not find a page for that KB article. What exactly are we patching? What is it supposed to fix?

After the distribution of the latest windows update on Dec 2014 we started to face irregular behavior with our Citrix ICA Client V12 which is used to connect to our online applications. The web application suddenly crash and windows provides an error message as below. The event viewer shows the below log.

We suspect that it was duo to Windows update, we have tried this fix (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3025390) but with no luck.

Any help is appreciated.

Compatibility View Settings

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has decided that Compatibility View is to be treated as Browsing History and therefore cleared on closure of the current Window.  Wonderful stuff!  We deal with lots of sites that are developed for IE7 such as Banks and Financial organizations etc and this has really become a royal pain in the nether regions for IT staff.  Even though we have applied a GPO, IE does not retain the list of sites.  Therefore we have to explain to users about how to set the compatibility view, and believe me users do not retain the information.

Anyone else come across this wonderful experience?

Anyone know of a way around this other than using Firefox?

With Windows Update I get following error: 9C59

In Event log I get following:

I have tryed to install from a command prompt with the options /update-no but I get the same failure

A hint would be nice :-)

Can't delete favorites from IE 10 - Windows 8

$

Yesterday out of the blue some old pages from my favorites list reappeared.  I deleted these in the past and now they just showed up.  When I right click on them to delete them or go to organize favorites to delete them, they delete for a few seconds, but then reappear.  I try again and again, but they just keep coming back.  The "favorites bar" in my favorites list does the same thing.  I have also gone to users/profile/favorites to try and delete them and they just come back.

I've run multiple scans with my antivirus software and spybot software, but it didn't fix it.

Anyone know how to fix this or know what the problem could be?  I am not a tech guy, just an average joe, but can get around windows decently.

Thanks for your help.

Deploy IE11 KB2834140 missing

I am trying to deploy Internet Explorer 11 in Dutch to deploy. Everything i try it fails on the machines that have the older Windows 7 installation.

Because the machines are needing updates i run wsus offline on such a machine and download all the updates nessecairy. After installing all updates with the updateinstaller of WSUS offline, Windows SP1 and all other updates are installed.

Then try again to install IE11 (made with IEAK11 or also one that is not created with IEAK) but installation fails. All the Prerequisites are available in the MSI i use to install including KB2834140.

The error where ie10 main log is keep coming is: error downloading prerequisite file KB2834140 0x800c005 2148270085

But the file is included in the IEAK version and the machines are updated!

The only way i can get IE11 installed is to update thru Windows Update but that is not an option. WSUS offline should get all the updates?

keydown handler receives keydown event when Ctrl is pressed in URL field of IE11

$

In IE11 there is a strange behavior of firing a keydown event.

There is a form with two input fields:

<form><inputclass="usernameField"type="text"></input><br><inputclass="passwordField"type="password"></input><br></form>

and there are the following handlers (jQuery 1.11.0):

$(document).ready(function(){
    $('.usernameField').keydown(function(event){
        console.log('usernameField keydown');});
    $('.usernameField').keyup(function(event){
        console.log('usernameField keyup');});
    $('.passwordField').keydown(function(event){
        console.log('passwordField keydown');});
    $('.passwordField').keyup(function(event){
        console.log('passwordField keyup');});});

1) Let's reproduce the issue with the username field

  • Put focus at username field.
  • Then click at browser's URL field.
  • Press Ctrl on keyboard.
  • The keydown handler of the username field receives an event. I.e. see 'usernameField keydown' in console.

2) Now let's do the same with password field

  • Put focus at password field.
  • Then click at browser's URL field.
  • Press Ctrl on keyboard.
  • The keydown handler of the password field receives an event. I.e. see 'passwordField keydown' in console.

The same issue can be reproduced without jQuery:

<script>function keyIsDownOnUsername(event){
        console.log('keyIsDown on username');}function keyIsUpOnUsername(event){
        console.log('keyIsUp on username');}function keyIsDownOnPassword(event){
        console.log('keyIsDown on password');}function keyIsUpOnPassword(event){
        console.log('keyIsUp on password');}</script><form><inputonkeydown="keyIsDownOnUsername(event)"onkeyup="keyIsUpOnUsername(event)"type="text"></input><br><inputonkeydown="keyIsDownOnPassword(event)"onkeyup="keyIsUpOnPassword(event)"type="password"></input><br></form>

IMHO it's a bug and it should be fixed.

P.S. JFYI: keyup event (for Ctrl key) is not fired in all of these cases.

Downloading Files When Clicking Open or Save Nothing Happens

Hello

I work as part of a IT team within a organization that has 200+ Windows 8.1 devices, recently we have been experiencing a problem when downloading files using Internet Explorer 11.

You click the file to download (word document,PDF etc) and you get the yellow bar at the bottom asking you to open save etc but when you select any of the options nothing happens and this is becoming increasingly more common.

I cant believe we are the only people to have this issue but i have searched and cant find any answers.

I hope somebody can help us.

Thanks,

IE 11 crashing when trying to print

I recently updated from IE 9 to IE 11 on a Dell Latitude E5520.  I run Windows 7 x64 SP1.  When I put IE 11 on the computer I instantly had issues trying to get IE to open.  It would crash instantly.  I fixed that issue by going into the tools and the advanced tab and checking "use software rendering instead of GPU rendering."  Now if I try to print any page from IE I get the following error and I was wondering if there is something I should be looking for.
