uncheck 'display intranet sites in compatibility view' with GPO

$

I have a need to set IE 11 "Display intranet sites in compatibility view" and google search was not much help. These are steps I done:

1. In IE 11, I ensure there's no check at "Display intranet sites in compatibility view"

2. In Group policy, I disabled 'Turn on Internet Explorer Standards Mode for local intranet'

3. Ran gpupdate

4. "Display intranet sites in compatibility view" is checked and grayed out!

It's not what I want, I want "Display intranet sites in compatibility view" uncheck and grayed out to prevent users check the box. What other steps to achieve this? Thanks.

Excessive Memory Usage IE11

I'm running Windows 7x64 on a Toshiba laptop, third-generation i3 processor, 16 GB. I'm having problems with Internet Explorer 11 not releasing memory and closing tasks. It keeps building up to the point where Internet Explorer freezes and I have to either close it completely or use process Explorer to kill some of the erroneous tasks.

I've tried running IE 11 without any add-ons and I have the same problem. I've also completely remove IE 11 all the way back to the base IE 8 that comes with Windows 7 and install everything from their up and still have the same problem.

Here's a link to a screenshot of what it looks like in process Explorer: https://www.dropbox.com/s/brhcwsk8v7zlq1l/IE%2011.JPG?dl=0

Any other ideas what I can trying to solve this problem?

Hi,

On my fresh install of Windows 8 which is upgraded to 8.1, I see below prompt when I browse some sites:

"Do you want to open or save WolAuthenticationHandler.json from windows.microsoft.com?"

Some of those sites are famous sites and I have browsed them a lot before (like "stackoverflow.com").

Any solutions to this annoying issue?

Thanks.

Internet Explorer 10 IEAK capturing Security Settings

$

I am trying to package a custom installation for Internet Explorer 10 using IEAK.  I am having some trouble with the Inport Security Settings portion of the tool.

It is failing to import the security settings.  It says it has imported them, but upon installation the security settings have not been included in the IE 10 installation.

Looking at the "INS" folder that is built and the custsec.inf file create there, I can see that only two security settings have been captured -- "1401" and "2500" and none of the other 50 or so security settings are collected for any zone.

In addition, I have trusted sites set to not require HTTPS, but that selection is not captured into the custom IEAK generated browser installer.

Does anyone have any tips on how to successfully deploy a customized version of IE 10?  I am even more reliant now on IEAK since IEM mode was removed from Group Policy, so I reall need to figure out why it doesn't function correctly.

Disabling TNSv1.0 breaks compatibility with IE 9 and 10

$

Hello..

I'm in a bit of a dilemma with security and compatibility being at odds with each other. In order to mitigate the growing list of security problems with TLSv1, I need to disable version 1 on our server (I know how to do this, so this is not a server issue). The problem is, IE 9 and 10 do not support TLSv1.1 or TLSv1.2 by default. These can be turned on manually in Internet Options/Advanced/Security.

And there's the problem: it has to be enabled manually. Asking users to go through this process in order to use our sites will most likely end up in a lost sale. And if a customer disables something that should not be disabled in the security settings, that can lead to more problems for them.

Where's the middle solution here? Most of our traffic is on IE 10. Disabling TLSv1 will shut those customers out. Does anyone know if there's an update around the corner that might enable v1.1 and 1.2 by default?

Thank you in advance.

IE 10 won't load content into new tabs opened by links

$

I've recently 'upgraded' to IE 10 on multiple computers, differing manufacturers, both 32 and 64 bit all running Win 7 (home or pro), AND, I'm experiencing the same exact problem on all of them.

When I click on a link in say Gmail, or facebook, and the usual action would be to have the browser automatically open a new tab and display the content, now nothing happens. The tab opens (in the case of gmail 3 tabs open) with the same URL displayed as the original page, but it is utterly blank. And there it sits. No 404, not message, just blank. Right clicking on a link to choose to open in a new tab has the same result. If I paste an URL in the new tab it opens just fine.

It is the process of opening the tab and displaying the content from a link that fails. This is a deal breaker as it makes the experience so tedious as to be unusable.

I've never experienced this before, not even with the IE10 preview. The fact that I'm experiencing it on multiple non-identical computers makes me suspicious. I see others have experienced this in IE 9 and from what I can see there is no solution except to switch to chrome.

Anyone have any ideas?

Can't Upload large (up to 50MB) .wav files using IE 11

$

Hi,

I'm a website owner that allows my users to upload large music files to my site. I've noticed the uploads never work using IE. Is there a way to fix this? I know that Users can use Firefox on Windows and Safari & Firefox on OSX but IE always rejects the upload to my site. This has nothing to do with FTP, this is a system on the website where large music files (up to 50MB) are uploaded by members. If anyone knows how I can fix this problem it would be much appreciated. It's not a server issue as the uploads work in other browsers, so I assume it's a setting in IE.

My IE version is 11.0.9600

I'm technically inclined but when it comes to Browser settings or workflows I'm a novice, so if you have an answer on how I can fix this, it'd be much appreciated. Please go step by step as well.

Document not opening in same iframe window --MS2013 in IE10/IE11

A MSWord2013 document has to be opened in an iframe window. But its not opening in the same iframe window(in the same browser window). Rather its asking for Opening/Saving Option in a separate popup. This issue is in IE10 and IE11.
Earlier same kind of issues in MS2007 and M2010 versions in IE7/8 were fixed by using MicrosoftFixIt registry.
plz suggest a way to make the document open in the same window

here is a standalone code we used to check it --

Cannot install IE 10 after removing Internet Explorer 11

My biggest client is completely down because IE11 cannot correctly uninstall.

Internet Explorer 11 is not compatible with the medical EMR application and the Dell iDrac remote support programs that my clients use.

I have uninstalled IE 11, rebooted and attempted to install IE 9 and IE 10 but windows says that the program is already installed. The program is missing from the IE Program directory, there is no IE icon and searches for it on the machine cannot find the application.

There is no way that I can find to get IE working. I need a technical note to cleanup the registry or better yet a Fix from microsoft.

Please help!

IE9+ download prompts and download problems

$

I have two things going with IE9+, both related to downloads. I'll mention the problem first.

IE9+ apparently downloads similar to how FireFox downloads, in that it downloads straight to the location that you're looking to save the file, but as a '.part' file (or something along that line) until it's finished, at which point, it renames the file and completes the download. The problem I've been having since IE9 came out and still see with IE11 is with downloading to my 'special folders' (Downloads, Favorites, etc) which are redirected to a network location. Downloads using IE9+ will randomly fail for no apparent reason - except the download didn't actually fail - It'll get the whole download, then for whatever reason, be unable to rename it (I Assume) because the '.part' file is there and complete, and removing everything after the proper extension results in a proper and fully functional file. As much as I dislike Firefox, I've never had anything even close happen downloading to the same locations. Any thoughts as to why one download will 'fail' but another to the same place will be fine, and Firefox has never had this issue?

My other issue is with the download prompts. When downloading zip files, I get the prompt inserted below. Pretty much everything else prompts using a stupid bar along the bottom of the page - I LOATHE that stupid bar. How can I make *everything* prompt the same way I get prompted for zip files? Since it obviously works **RIGHT** for zip files, there has got to be a way to make it work the same for all file types. This issue along with the random 'failures' above are why I absolutely REFUSE to downgrade from IE8 to 9+ on any machine that I have a choice on, and use FireFox under protest everywhere else. IE8 was the last decent IE Browser.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

IE 11 installation with Downloaded language packs

$

Hi,

I am trying to install IE 11 on a Windows 7 machine. ALl the pre-reqs have been downloaded and installed and if I try to install it its installing fine.

But, in the log file I have found that its trying to download and install 4 language packs. I have added those 4 language in WIndows 7.

I have those language packs installed locally, is there a way that it takes the language packs locally instead of downloading it from internet during its installation.

Thanks Chandan
