IE 11 Does not load pages and "Stops Responding" After 11/26/2013 Windows Update

I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. IE 11. (Doesn't matter if I try to open 32 or 64 bit IE)

I keep Automatic Updates on and they install as soon as they are available.

Everything on my PC was running fine 11/25/13.

I came to it 11/26/13 after Windows Updates ran and now whenever I open any webpages, it does not load the web page 100%, no hyperlinks can be clicked on and once you attempt to click on anything. I get the "IE 11 has stopped responding" bubble.

It also seemed to affect Firefox which does not completely load pages either.

Any shove in the correct way to help solve this would be helpful.

Disable Enhanced Protected Mode with IEAK, IE 11

Hello,

Enhanced protection mode is breaking Java. We build IE 11 packages with the IEAK, and I can't seem to find the setting in the IEAK to disable enhanced mode. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Back arrow will not drop down the recent history of pages visited on a right-click.

I use IE 11. Older versions of IE allowed you to back up to any previous page visited during the current session by right-clicking the back button. The right-click would drop down a list of pages visited, and you could choose any one of them, regardless of their order. With IE 11, the right-click has no effect. I must left-click the back button and go through each page previously visited serially before reaching the desired one. Have I inadvertently changed a setting or something?

Cookies not working in IE9 on 2008R2

Hi All,

We have a very strange issue where our desktops running Win7 x86 + SP1 and IE9 can successfully access an internal web application that uses cookies. The cookie is used to call up a customer and is retained in the session until you log out the app.

However if I run that same app on 2008R2 + SP1 with IE9 the cookie is expiring after approximately 20 seconds and all the customer information is lost.

- If I re-enter the customer information a 2nd time then the cookie seems to be retained.
- If I open the app in the browser and then open it a 2nd time in a new tab/window the application works fine and the cookie is retained
- I have tired with/without the same IE GPO's that are applied to the desktops to ensure all settings (including the cookie settings) are identical
- I have tried on both IE and IE x64 on the server
- I have a small random selection of other Windows 2008R2 servers where the app works fine without the need for multiple tabs/windows. In theory these servers are identical builds and patch levels and IE versions which makes no sense to me.

I have tried the TabProcGrowth registry key on 0 and 1 but it has not made any difference.

I am pretty stumped on this now...

IE11 hangs on startup even with all add-ons disabled

Hi,

I'm working at Taipie Veterans General Hospital, where all workstations are not allowed to upgrade  to IE11 because of system crash and incompatibity issues.

My personal laptop (Windows 7 64-bit), however, was upgraded to IE11 about three days ago.   IE11 run well initially but hangs on startup in the second day of upgrade.   I was able to start the IE11 using the safe mode without any add-ons.   So I  disables on all add-ons in the options and then tried to re-start the IE11 in normal mode.  It just hanged on starup with blank menu bar even though I had already disabled all add-ons.

There was no log of error in the eventvwr.

I searched for possible solutions over the net and tried the following steps without success:

  1. Clear all the cache and temporary files.
  2. Disable protected mode in the security tab of internet option

Please help, thanks in advance.

I think I might have to revert to and stay put with IE10, just like my Hopstial did.

In IE, Manage Add-Ons, why is the Publisher for the Adobe PDF Reader Add-On shown as 'Unavailable'

$

Some users of a website that displays PDFs inline in the browser are not able to view the PDFs.  These users are using IE9 and Adobe Reader XI on a Windows 7 machine. They have gone through uninstalling, reinstalling, and repairing Adobe Reader XI and have ensured that the IE settings match the IE settings for other users whose setups work correctly.  The only difference is in the Manage Add-Ons.  On machines that do work, the publisher for the Adobe PDF Reader add-on is listed as 'Adobe Systems, Incorporated'.  On the machines that do not work, the publisher is shown as 'not available'.   My gut feeling is that since the publisher is listed as 'not available', IE doesn't trust the add-on and won't run the ActiveX control to display the PDFs in the browser.

They do assure me that they are using the 32-bit version of IE and they have adjusted the ActiveX trust settings in the Security Tab to enable or prompt all the different unsigned or not marked as safe settings there.  But still the PDFs do not render in IE9 or any other IE browser version.

How can I fix those systems so that the add-on shows as 'Adobe Systems, Incorporated' on the machines that do not work?  Or how can I get them to work regardless of the publisher listed?  Or is this even the issue of why these machines will not display PDFs in the browser?

IE10 installation on Windows 7 Workstations Functioning Like IE Does On A Server

We are in the process of rolling out IE 10 on Windows 7 to replace IE 8.

The first thing we noticed is that the default settings after installing on a PC makes IE 10 almost unusable on the Internet.  I reminds me of "Enhanced Security Configuration" on a server although not quite as severe.

I installed IE10 on a workstation and then went to the Microsoft download site to download install RSAT tools and none of the links to download worked.

Users cannot even log into OWA webmail because javascript is disabled.

One fix is to add sites to the Trusted Zone, but since so many sites don't work, users would need to manually add almost every site they need into the Trusted Zone, so it would kind of defeat the purpose if they have 50 or 100 sites added to Trusted Sites and this issue will generate a lot of help desk calls with so many sites broken.

Another issue is than we cannot load sites with SSL certificates from untrusted certificate authorities even if we click past the first warning.  Page cannot be displayed. We cannot even get to the point of manually importing the certificate into the list of trusted root CAs on that workstation.  The only workaround to this is to use another browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

I have used IE10 in other environments and my home PC without it being so difficult to deal with and sometimes we can get around these issues by doing a "Reset" in the Advanced tab in Internet Options, so this makes me think there is a group policy enabled on the domain that is making the Internet Zone overly restricted and the policy is being reapplied a few minutes after doing the IE reset.

We would like to disable these enhanced security settings so IE 10 is as functional on the web as other browsers.

Does anyone know which settings may be causing this issue so we can create or edit a group policy to stop this problem?

IE 11 Developer Tools not responding on Win7 x64

Just installed IE 11 RTM on my Win7 x64 SP1.

But the Developer Tools (F12) is always not responding.

I tried reinstall and reset in IE advanced options, and no luck.

The Developer Tools is not unusable each time, but always, especially switch to Profiler or Network tab.

I have to uninstall IE11, and reinstall IE10.

Strategy for accessing TechNet forums with one login; Bing.com with another

I spend a great deal of my day in the TechNet forums. I login with one Microsoft account just for the forums. I login to Bing.com with another. I'm finding it increasingly frustrating having to repeatedly login each time I go from one resource to another. Is there a way to keep from having to login repeatedly as I go from TechNet to Bing.com?

Items on Favorites Bar Automatically Re-Populate After Deleting Them

$

So after I delete an item from my favorites bar in IE11 it almost instantly reappears.  I've confirmed the autocomplete setting for address bar and favorites is un-checked.

Internet Options>Content tab, 'Settings' button in Autocomplete section, UNchecked the options to use autocomplete for Address bar entries, including favorites.

I'm using IE11 with Windows 8.1, starting IE from the desktop (not from the start screen).

I've stopped and started IE, rebooted the PC.   I've even deleted the 'Favorites Bar' folder in my profile; it too automatically re-appears.  Next step I'm trying (barring a solution from the experts) is to uninstall and reinstall IE.  Should I also perhaps run malwarebytes (low-level virus checker/remover).  I would hope the security features included with Win 8.1 and IE11 would prevent this from being a malware issue.

AAAGGHH - this is frustrating.  HELP  !!!

IE 11 not launching in app mode

IE 11 will not launch in app mode, it only will launch in desktop mode. I have read the other posts and my issue is different. There are no other browsers on my machine than IE 11. In the control panel, in internet options, I set internet explorer to the default setting for all programs. I then unpin IE from the metro start and repin it to the start. Same damn result happens every single time, it will launch in desktop mode. I've rebooted, deleted cache temp files, cleaned registry...nothing changes the result.

Here is the kicker, two days ago it worked for 5 minutes! There are no other software on this machine, it is a brand new Lenovo Yoga 11s. What is up with this browser not running in app mode?

Batch file for IE settings

$

Hi everybody,

I want to make some changes to IE settings of many PCs to be able to open a tool which willl be used by all users using the systems..
Since same settings are to be applied to different systems. I want to create a batch file for it .

Settings are :

1.Go to internet Options-- security--sites--trusted sites and and the site https://abc.com under it
2.Set security level for this zone as Low
3.Check enable protected mode
4.Go to internet options--settings--privacy and uncheck Turn on Pop-up blocker
5.Go to tools--compatibility view settings and the site https://abc.com under it . Check option - display intranet sites
in compatibility view

I did some research on net and found that all these settings are done by changing entries in registery.
The site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182569 gave lot of info on what various codes mean . But since I am new to creating
batch files , it does not help me in writing commands. Little more research showed me that my commands would be something like
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /.....................
However I cannot use trial and error as any unwanted change to registery may cause damage to my systems .
It would really be very helpful if anyone can help me with his/her expertise in batch files and reg files.
My target will be for IE8/9/10/11 preview . I am assuming the commands would be same for these versions which are comparitively new.

Thanks,
Mani

Why does IE8 running on XP and Win7 Virtual Machine deletes the history while I'm still browsing the same site with client-side hashbang routing?

$

Hello,

I have a asp.net mvc 5 web application running on .net 4.5 hosted on my local windows 8 machine on macbook pro using parallels. I'm running Internet Explorer 8 Version: 8.0.6001.18702 running on XP and Version: 8.0.7601.17514 running on Windows 7 Enterprise. I've got both of the virtual machine source from www.modern.ie

My web application is attempting to provide single page user experience by having some client-side routing by using '#!/xxx' hashbangs in the url so that I can get and post via ajax and change the hash in  the url without causing the page to reload. My code works fine in IE9+ and other modern browsers.

However, I'm facing this strange issue in both of the IE8 versions. When running my demo app in IE8, I can login, view home page and can navigate from this home page to many details page. From the very first login page, all the pages are the result of form's post action via ajax which then expects html from server and loads in the DOM. The page structure of my app is like summary form => Details page (can also contain summary forms) => Details...so on.

The above process works fine for few of the navigation steps. If I keep navigating from one page to another & go back, I have observed that the browser back button is removing the history items slowly. And a time comes when it totally forgets about all the history pages that I visited to reach this current page I'm viewing!! It treats like I have just started my browsing session and this current page is the first page I've landed on with no back option. Now if I again try to navigate, I have encountered problems like both the back and forward buttons gets disabled.

Hope, my words above is clear enough to explain this problem. The same application works fine in IE9+ and other browsers.

Till now, I have tried following steps on both VMs:

  • Resetting IE8.
  • Increasing disk space to 1024mb for temporary internet files storage.
  • Setting 'Never' for Check for newer versions of stored pages.
  • Disabling the automatic crash recovery feature didn't helped in this case. Found this on support website.
  • Deleted temporary files, history, cache, etc many a times.
  • Search many forums, posted question on StackOverflowASP.NET Forums - but didn't helped.
  • Tried 'beforeunload' event of browser to see if any of the page is reloading because of submit or any other reason. But the page doesn't reload at all.

The issue is browser forgets about the browsing history while I'm still browsing the same site.

Is there any possible fix for the issue above? Does IE8 have any issues as many ajax form post is happening on every page?

GPP Internet Settings for IE 11 disable Zone settings

$

Hello!

We have to Rollout IE 11 to our whole client Environment ( Win7 Enterprise). But before we can do this we have to test it in our IT department. We want to make the settings with GPP. In the first step we only want to set the Proxy settings and the default Homepage.

At this Point our troubles are starting. When we create a IE 10 Setting (which also applys to IE11) i can set what i want. everything is working on the Client. But i don´t want to set the settings from the security tab and i can´t disable this with F7 because there is no red dotted nor a green line.

The reason why we don´t want do set this settings is very simple. We want that our colleagues can set every setting and give us then a feedback which settings they need to set for there web apps.

Any Ideas?

Kind Regards

How to delete IE and reinstall it?

My internet explorer 11 in windows 7 randomly pops up ad such as the secure-score.org. I have run the Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 but could not detect any virus. I also have set the pop up block to high but the random pop up ads still enter my browser. Can I delete and then reinstall the Internet Explorer from the Windows 7? If it will work, how to locate and delete the internet explorer from the Windows 7? Do I have to download the internet explore before delete the current internet explorer? Thank you for your answer.
