Internet Explorer 11 frozen

Seems to have happened since something called a Conduit search engine insinuated itself on my 64-bit machine, which is  running IE11 under Windows 8.1. It freezes on a white screen on opening and does not appear to be able to use the machine's internet acccess. Only the favourites menu is live so I had to resort to Chrome. That too was infected with Conduit, which (cross fingers) I managed to eradicate with great difficulty together with other crapware that came in its wake.  I've tried every suggestion on the support site to revive IE - including a reset to defaults and an alleged reinstall, which does not seem to replace corrupted registry entries or files. Scan and repair simply reported that it could not fix some files. A search of the registry revealed that Conduit had installed itself as my IE start page, but changing this made no difference. The CBS log means little to me but includes a number of 'failed to upload' lines

IE9 open in new window/tab does not load

Running Internet Explorer v9.0.8112.16421 on Windows 7 Pro x64 with SP1.

When the browser is asked to open a page in a new window or tab, the new blank window or tab appears, but nothing loads. There is a spinning circle in the address bar and along side the mouse cursor, but nothing more happens.

This behavior is observed whether you click on a link using target="_blank" or right click on a link and select open in new window. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled IE9. I have also experimented with the IE tabbed browsing settings including disabling tabbed browsing.

IE11 Injecting Favicon.ico into the end of the url

Since a few days we are seeing "favicon.ico" and "|//browserguard1" has been frequently added to the end of the url causing errors. The requests share this attributes in common:

1.- browser client --> IE11  (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Gecko)

2.- referer --> "http://127.0.0.1/ie-tab-l/indexIE.html"

3.- example request:

optionName=Searchingfavicon.ico HTTP/1.1″ 200 3618 “http://127.0.0.1/ie-tab-l/indexIE.html” “Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Gecko”

anyone could help us?

Upgrade IE 8 to IE 10 with all updates and only 1 reboot?

We need to update multiple computers from IE 8 to IE 10 with as little disruption as possible.

We could simply approve IE 10 as an update via WSUS or we could do a startup script or login script that automatically installs IE 10.  We could even just point users to a link to install IE 10 manually.

The problem with this is that none of these methods install all the IE 10 updates at the same time of IE 10 installation.  The users would have to also manually install Windows Updates for IE 10 or wait for automatic updates to install them the next time the machine checks for updates which would require another reboot that they may not be excpecting.

How can we streamline this?  Is there a way to either create an installation file package that slipstreams all the updates as part of the installation or else immediately installs all the updates after the new browser installs?

We mainly do not want the users to have a chance to start opening up other software and documents before the updates are complete and then have to  close all these apps and documents again to complete the reboot the IE 10 updates require.

IE10 certificate warning GPO Windows 7Hi

Hi,

we are a branch office of a major company. The mother company has a intranet SharePoint website. The mother company still uses Windows XP with IE6.

We, the branch office, are running Windows 7 with IE8 some time now. We want to upgrade to IE10. Everything works except our intranet website. We get an IE10 certificate warning. How do we supress this error for this particular website.

I Know I should ask the mother company to fix the cert but this is a mission impossible. SO is there a GPO which I can use to entirely block this feature or add this intranet page to a whitelist or something? Our users are realy spoiled to if this error is not resolved we cannot migratie to IE10...

thanks!

Hi,

With regards to adding addresses to the Trusted Sites list via GPO, is adding *.contoso.com the same as adding http://*.contoso.com and https://*.contoso.com ?

Could sites added as *.contoso.com cause the ActiveX Installer Service to fail installing ActiveX ?

Thanks,

IE 11 Content Advisor in Windows 8 Home

Hello,

I have a problem... I would like to use Content Advisor option in my Internet Explorer 11 browser, but I have preinstalled Windows 8.1 for one language on my laptop. This option is not available by default in IE11 and I know that to enable it in the browser one have to use gpedit.msc module, which is also not available in my edition of Windows 8.

Is there a possibility to enable Content Advisor option without gpedit.msc, for example through regedit? Could you possibly present a procedure step by step?

I would appreciate any help, because this subject is vital for me.

Best regards,

Dimitri

Unable to view SSL certificate in IE11

Hi,

I'm feeling really dumb but I can't figure out how to view the details of an SSL certificate in IE11.

On previous version of IE you would simply click on the padlock that appears in the address bar and then select view certificate. On IE11 the padlock does not appear. The particular problem I'm having is that I'm trying to diagnose why Windows 8.1 with IE11 is rejecting a perfectly valid cert. All I get is a screen telling me that there is a problem with the certificate (it says that the cert is revoked) but no details and I can't figure out how to view the details.

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

How to open text URL in the new tab

$

Hi guys,

We know that when we click on a hyperlink it will directly open the linked web site, e.g.www.bing.com

But sometimes we may find some URL in plain text that we couldn't click on it, e.g. www.bing.com

I'll have to select the URL and copy&paste it to a new tab to open it, this is time wasting.

The time IE 9 came out, I found a wonderful add-on, Open URL in New Tab (with Preview)

This will do the trick to open the text URL in the new tab by right click on it.

http://www.iegallery.com/us/addons/detail.aspx?id=3614

But I don't like two things of it.

1st, it will try to preview the web site when I using it which is undesired.

2nd, it will open the link through another site and then jump back to the link I need to open. But I'd like to open the link directly. Which will open the link more quickly also save my time.

Questions:

Is there any other way to open the plain text URL directly? I mean without copy and past it to another page.

It would be great if I can open the URL by dragging it like the other...

I am running IE10 on Windows 7. I installed dropbox and have been getting a "scripts disabled" message. I have no idea what scripsts to enable. Ive tried lots of different things. I thought it was a java issue but I disabled all my java scripts and then re-enabled them...to no avail. anyone have any better ideas?

The strangest part is that the message i've been getting opens up in Micrsoft Word and reads;

Dropbox cannot log you in automatically because your browser has scripts disabled.

IE9 requesting Authentication for Intranet site.

Hi Guys,

Having a problem with IE where when we access a intranet site it is requesting authentication, if we access via the FQDN. NetBIOS name works without issue.

IE: Ver 9 +

IIS:Ver 7

If we add FQDN to local intranet sites then it works without a problem. So it looks like the feature to automatically detect intranet sites is not working correctly. I know I can use Group policy to push these FQDN out to client yet was wondering if anyone know what the problem is and a solution.

Thanks

Craig

I have made a system in Visio 2010 and converted the Visio file into HTML. I have made it so that I can click one a text and get multiple choices.

Up till version 09 for Internet Explorer I could display those several choices.

But now I could do not get those choices. I only get the first Choice.

Is there a way to fix this?

GPP Internet Settings for IE 11 disable Zone settings

$

Hello!

We have to Rollout IE 11 to our whole client Environment ( Win7 Enterprise). But before we can do this we have to test it in our IT department. We want to make the settings with GPP. In the first step we only want to set the Proxy settings and the default Homepage.

At this Point our troubles are starting. When we create a IE 10 Setting (which also applys to IE11) i can set what i want. everything is working on the Client. But i don´t want to set the settings from the security tab and i can´t disable this with F7 because there is no red dotted nor a green line.

The reason why we don´t want do set this settings is very simple. We want that our colleagues can set every setting and give us then a feedback which settings they need to set for there web apps.

Any Ideas?

Kind Regards

How can I restore IE 10 after 11 installs?

$

Hello all,

Internet Explorer 11 automatically installed on my computer and now I'm having trouble logging into several sites (notably my online bank site and eBay).  I want to go back to IE 10 or even 9 but haven't found a way to do that.  So far I've tried:

  1. Turning IE 11 off (since you can't uninstall it)
  2. Tried to install IE 10 but it says it's already installed (the same goes for IE 9)
  3. Tried to find the .exe file for 9 or 10 (since it's still installed) but every iexplore.exe opens IE 11 and no other.
  4. My last resort will be to do a complete computer restore to an earlier date before IE 11 was installed.  But I hate to do that.

The error I get on eBay is "If you are seeing this page, your browser settings prevent you for automatically redirecting to a new URL."   I can log in fine with Google Chrome but get nowhere with IE 11.  I’ve tried to find the settings that prevent a page from redirecting but can find nothing, plus IE 11 is totally different from previous versions so have to figure out where the settings even are.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or tips to help me get back to an earlier version of Internet Explorer?  I’m really frustrated with IE all together now and if there is no solution, I’ll just stay with Google Chrome.

Thanks,

Marcine
