Enterprise Mode site list schema v.2 not working as expected

$

We have begun to pilot Windows 10 Enterprise in our environment.  As part of this, I've created copies of the GPOs that point IE11 to the Enterprise Mode Site List.  The new copies use a WMI filter so that it applies only to Windows 10 clients.  Then, I created a schema v.2 version of our Enterprise Mode site list so that I could tell clients not only to run certain sites in IE8 Enterprise Mode, but to open them in IE11.

If I browse to the sites in Internet Explorer 11, Enterprise Mode works as expected; however, if I browse to the sites in Edge, it doesn't work.  Instead, I just get various compatibility problems from the page not rendering correctly, to getting a"your browser is incompatible" message, to not having the plugins or ActiveX controls needed available.

I thought the whole idea of schema v.2 was to be able to have sites load in either Edge, IE11, or to run in Enterprise Mode with no preference?  How can I get sites to forcibly open in IE11 when needed?

By the way, I've already checked group policy results and verified my Windows 10 test client is picking up the new v.2 Enterprise Mode file and not the old v.1 one.

Internet Explorer 11 Keeps Logging Me Out

For the last few weeks I've been getting logged out of every website that I go to as soon as I leave the page. This is happening on every single website that I use without exception and I don't know how to fix it. I have looked at every message board and tried everything and checked everything and all of the settings are how they should be so I really don't know what to try now and it is really irritating me, especially facebook as I need to use the code generator every single time I want to go on it.

I would really appreciate any help or advice that you could give me. Thanks.

Website Error: SCRIPT16386: No such interface supported

$

I am currently designing an interactive web map. One of the functions of this map is to have a "print" button which captures the map canvas and adds a legend and logo.

The function below is called on the button click and works as expected, building a new layout window and triggering the print dialog, in both Chrome and Firefox.

However, in Internet Explorer 11 and Edge the print throws the error "SCRIPT16386: No such interface supported" on trying to append the map image (a data URI). All other elements load as expected.

  • This error occurs consistently on other PC's locally and elsewhere so it must be a problem with my script as opposed to a IE/Edge installation issue.
  • The map is based on webgl and so has to be captured as a data URI.
  • Other questions have cited that trying to add the object before the window has loaded causes issues for IE and Edge though i can't see a way around this.

Can anyone help, what am i doing wrong?

function screen(){

var simg = new Image();
var dataURL = map.getCanvas('#map').toDataURL();

simg.src = dataURL;

var mywindow = window.open('about:blank','Print','height=800,width=900');
var is_chrome = Boolean(mywindow.chrome);

mywindow.document.write('<!DOCTYPE html><head>');
mywindow.document.write('<link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/scr.css" type="text/css" />');
mywindow.document.write('</head><body>');
//add logos and legend here.
mywindow.document.write('</div></body></html>');
mywindow.document.body.appendChild(simg); //<-- IE11 and Edge fail here.

        if (is_chrome) {
            setTimeout(function () {
                    mywindow.document.close();
                    mywindow.focus();
                    mywindow.print();
                    mywindow.close();
            }, 600);
        } else {

    mywindow.document.close();
    mywindow.focus();
    mywindow.print();
    mywindow.close();

    }
    return true;
}

Internet Explorer 11 don´t show geodata (location) in the map web application (Since the last updates).

Our customer use a web application to display location data on a map.

Since the last updates geographiclocation data are no longer displayed in the map on the Internet Explorer. Other browser like google chrome, firefox, ... show the location data in the map. Internet Explorer just in older versions without the lastes updates.It looks likethe transmission ist blocked now. (example data:data-latitude="37.39" data-longitude="-122.08")

In Internet Explorer the option "Never allow websites to request your physical location" is unchecked. The "Clear Sites" Button change nothing. Change the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Geolocation BlockAllWebsites to 0 doesn´t help too.

IE 11 - Issue on downloading doc files

After upgrading IE 9 to IE 11, we have been encountering this prompt

This webpage displays in 'Microsoft Word'. Do you want to disable Enhanced Protected Mode to run the control? You should only do this if you trust the site.

upon downloading doc files. The issue does not occur for docx, xls and xlsx.

The prompt would kill the file download process of doc file for an application we are using but we could not turn off EPM due to our company's security policies. Does anyone know what is the root cause of this issue and/or have a permanent fix?

Bing search history is being shared among hundreds of machines

Hi,

We have noticed that several hundred machines in our environment are sharing the search history.  Although we all have Office 365 accounts, none of these machines are "signed in" to Bing.  Why is this happening?

To give some background, we are currently using CloneZilla to image these machines so they all have the same PC username.  Again though, they are NOT logged into Bing.

I have temporarily disabled the browsing history on all the machines but that is not the solution.  Any help would be appreciated.

Reg entry for deleting temp files in Windows 7?

$

I have a fleet of non-domain joined machines that we manage through Dell's Kace system and I'm trying to run a script on them or a registry file to automatically delete all temp IE files on exit for every user.

I'm testing with my machine, which already has the setting applied through group policy. So here are the keys I've checked after much googling:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Privacy : ClearBrowsingHistoryOnExit - doesn't exist on my system

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\CACHE : Persistent - Mine is set to 1 (persistent) but my cache is deleted so clearly it's being overridden somewhere.

Any other ideas? Or will one of these actually work on a non-domain machine?

Thanks,

Keith

IEAK 11 Hangs and Crashes on Synchronization Step

$

Hi,

I can't sync IE from the IEAK step. It just hangs and eventually crashes. I'm running as the built-in admin, on a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64 VM (VMware Workstation), with plenty of RAM and HDD space. There's no A/V installed on the VM, which is only ever used for developing Windows 7-related wares. It doesn't go online. Event Logs do not mention anything, as usual, and I have no idea why this is happening. I usually have trouble with IEAK, but I often get farther than this.

Thanks

Internet Explorer 11 installation WMI Timeout KB2729094

$

Hey,

I have a lot of Win7 SP1 PCs here on which I receive an WMI timeout error during Internet Explorer 11 installation.
Error is the following (always with the same hotfix):

WMI query for Hotfixes timed out. Query string: 'Select HotFixID from Win32_QuickFixEngineering WHERE HotFixID="KB2729094"' Error: 0x00040004 (262148).
If I run the same query in powershell it takes long, but it ends with success.
Get-WMIObject -Query $('Select HotFixID from Win32_QuickFixEngineering WHERE HotFixID="KB2729094"') -Namespace "ROOT\CIMv
What I already tried was to reinstall the hotfix.
I although applied hotfix KB2834140 of slow WMI and tried to repair the WMI with following batch:
sc config winmgmt start= disabled
net stop winmgmt /y
%SYSTEMDRIVE% >nul
cd %windir%\system32\wbem
For /f %%s in ('dir /b *.dll') do regsvr32 /s %%s
wmiprvse /regserver
winmgmt /regserver
net start winmgmt
for /f %%s in ('dir /b *.mof *.mfl') do mofcomp %%s
But all without success. If I reistall the device installation works without problems, but it is not possible for me to reinstall nearly all my devices newly.

Thank you for help in advance.

Edge crashes and other issues with IE11

Hi

I've been passed on to this forum from the office365 support team as they consider the issue I'm having to be a fault with Internet Explorer.

For a while now Edge closes itself as soon as I try to open it event log says...

My Initial problem I had with Office365 was that I didn't have the option to pin apps.  If I reset IE it works ok, if I restart the PC it stops working again.  Pin apps works if I use inprivate browsing. I have disabled all add-ons and that made no difference.

I have tried with a different user and all works ok for that user, including edge.

If I delete my local profile, it creates a new one for me when I log on and all is fine for a few days until Edge stops working again and all the faults come back.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Hi all,

I am trying to enable Enterprise Mode for IE 11. The feature does not appear in the IE Tools menu as it should be.

 I have had no success with applying Group Policy and Registry Editor settings. Enterprise Mode Site Manager List tool is also installed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Usman

IE11 display "disconnects" from window even though process seems to be operating

I'm using IE11 on an HP ZBook 15 G2 which has built-in Intel HD 4600 and NVidia quadro k2100m graphics. The OS is windows 7 enterprise 64 bit. I've tried configuring ie11 to run using the intel and the NVidia graphics, but it didn't make any difference. I've also tried numerous versions of intel and NVidia driver versions and there was no difference. There has been a full OS reinstallation along the way and that didn't make any difference either, so I'm assuming this is a problem with IE11.

The problem is that the display area within the window freezes, eve though the IE11 process seems to be operating. I assume that because if I refresh the tab, I can see the address bar update. I can also see the task manager thumbnail update. Occasionally, if I suspend and resume the computer, the problem goes away, but usually, I just kill all of the IE11 processes and reopen them. This is very annoying and I'm wondering if there is a fix.

IE 11 Enterprise Mode - Does it work without Users having to turn it on???

$

I've been testing IE 11 Enterprise mode by setting it with GPO. I have the site list published, and I can verify that the local PC is picking up the latest version of the site list. I set website A to work in IE 9 Document mode (as the web site only works in IE 9 with compatibility mode enabled).  Website A is in the site list published via IIS and GPO. When a user views the website, it does not work. If the user manually selects Enterprise mode, it works flawlessly.

Should IE 11 Enterprise mode be enabled automatically for websites that are in the site list without having the user to turn it on?

WHERE ARE THE ADD-ONS in the Internet Explorer Gallery?!?!?!?

$

It's becoming widely known that Microsoft, in its infinitesimal wisdom, recently "enhanced" the IE Gallery, which used to hold dozens of useful add-ons. Now many favorites such as Map with Google Maps and Translate with Google Translate are gone. And on top of that, the buttons to provide feedback are broken (They return javascript:void(0);).

Really, if I didn't know better, I would think Microsoft was trying to intentionally antagonize its users, but I think even Microsoft isn't that dense. Surely this must be a mistake. If someone from Microsoft who actually gives a sh*t about the users is reading this, please tell whomever that is responsible for this screw up to fix it.

Receiving two prompts when downloading a file.

Good morning all,

I have a RDS Environment. Session Hosts, Collection Brokers, Web servers and Gateway servers are all Windows 2012 R2. GPO are used to lockdown and configure the uses sessions and desktops. This is a terminal server deployment, not a virtualized desktop deployment. Users' profile are stored via profile disks. The browser used in this environment is IE 11, not Edge.

When an end users downloads a pdf file, they receive two prompt in succession. The first asks: "Do you want to save 'PDF file name' from 'website url'?". This first prompt has a 'Save' button and an 'Cancel' button. It does not have an 'Open' button. The website url is in the Trusted security zone for IE 11. If the users click the 'Save' button, the second  prompt states: "The 'PDF file name' download has completed." This second prompt has an 'Open' button, 'Open folder' button and 'View downloads' button.

When an Admin downloads a PDF, they receive only one prompt. It asks: "Do you want to open or save 'PDF file name' from 'website url'?". This prompt has three butons: 'Open', 'Save', and Cancel.

What configuration or configurations are set in GPOs to cause this double prompts?

My goal is to have all users have only one prompt with three buttons, like the admin users.

Thank for your help on this.

Anton

Internet Explorer 11 - White Screen on Server 2012 R2

$

Hello

My Server, running 2012 R2 Standard, has to use Internet Explorer (Version 11 installed), to perform various browsing tasks on a regular basis.

Both automated and manual browsing between URL's randomly stops working and displays nothing but a white page. The only way to fix it is to quit IE and reopen, which slows the process down massively.

I have all addons disabled. I have tried resetting everything back to default. I have also disabled GPU rendering.

Any suggestions on what is going on? For reference, the exact same automation took place on Server 2008 R2 previously with no issues - I don't understand what could be the problem here but assume it is something Server 2012 related.

Thanks

Matthew
