IE 11 - Install new versions automatically in an SCCM Managed environment

When System Center Configuration Manager is used to manage/push updates out to clients, the SCCM agent takes over control of the Windows Updates process so that when you manually initiate Windows Updates, the machine will check against the SCCM server, rather than the online Microsoft update servers. When you have the option for Internet Explorer 11 to Install new versions automatically selected, will IE check for updates on the SCCM server, or will it check against the online Microsoft update servers?

Thanks.

I have IE 9 and I keep getting message "This version of Internet Explorer is no longer supported" on many web sites.

When I update Microsoft gives me the message I have the lastest IE version.

Why is this happening?

LIGHTBOX BUTTON NOT WORKING

I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH AN ISSUE THAT I CAN'T GET RESOLVED.

ON A COUPLE OF OUR WEB PAGES WE HAVE A BUTTON THAT SHOULD OPEN A LIGHTBOX FORM FROM JOTFORM.

ALL MY BROWSERS EXCEPT IE11 WORK. I HAVE TRIED MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS THAT JOTFORM HAS OFFERED BUT I CANNOT GET TO WORK ON MY IE11 BROWSER. NO ONE ELSE IS HAVING THE PROBLEM WITH IE11 JUST ME.

HERE IS ONE OF THE URLS: http://www.aac.ca/AAC_login/en/main/login.aspx

THIS IS NOT SERIOUS BUT A NICE TO KNOW

Need Old Versions of IE

I need copies of IE 9 and 10 for Win 7, 8.0, and 8.1 for testing complex SharePoint/Office 2010/2013/2016 integration. However, there is only IE 8 on MSDN subscription downloads. I don't want to download them from a virus-filled site like Softonic. Does anybody know where I can get them from an official Microsoft site?

Can't set Microsoft Edge to Sync

$

This is an Edge question. I know this is an IE forum, but I don't see an Edge forum yet. Is there somewhere else I should post this?

I have multiple systems running Windows 10, all connected to the same AD and domain. On one of them only, in Edge, it won't let me turn on Syncing. It says in red text "To sync, turn on Windows syncing in Settings." There is a link to settings right below that. The On/Off pill switch is in the Off positon and disabled, so I can change it. When I look at settings, as it suggests, the Sync settings are enabled, so that's clearly not the real problem.

What else could cause this? I've not seen this error message posted anywhere else on the Internet.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Colin

HTA technology is slow?

$

I had already made this question on MSN and I was told to ask about in IE Forum

QUESTION:

I introduce myself I'm new in the forum and also in programming. We say that not even being young I carry for practical purposes but more as a passion.
To start before moving languages you real I decided to work with those scripting (As we all think ..,). In this case I refer to HTA because I know good HTML, VBS and something of JS.
In the past I have tried through the WPF XAML but honestly I found the language a little "bulky", especially as logic.
At level "no GUI" last summer I learned the elementary functions of C ++.
Now I feel very comfortable with HTA but I'm noticing a difficulty:
I managed to set the environment HTA with x-ua IE10 (and also 11) thanks to a little trick found on the Internet.
I then a hta operated (HTA: APPLICATION TAG that works) with the support to CSS3 and therefore with the possibility of creating Gui modern and quite complex. Now my problem is the following:
I did some speed tests with the same compatibility ie between 10 and hta x-ua 10.
It notes that although the hta use the same engine of IE unfortunately have a lack of performance, which are slower browser even use the same engine with the same version of emulation. I thought that this is a defect in the executable mshta.exe. Actually this does not surprise me because I know that HTA is obsolete technology but
I consider it very useful especially for those who want to create GUI also advanced (that combined to VBS and BAT can also manipulate Windows) quickly and easily. Not a problem of the code of my program because I did other tests also with animations and WebGL and the result is always the same:
Everything working perfectly full support to IE10 but with a slow absolute. I also tried using the Visual Studio debugging but nothing ...
Now I am desperate because I knocked out a nice big program (200kb of code) but I have this painful tooth that discourages me every time.
For now I do not want to change language now because the program I did. I tried things like Node-Webkit and different, but frankly I have not found the same level of HTA light light ...
If anyone knows a few simple but powerful GUI language as HTML then tell me but I prefer hta (for now)
Perhaps for hta is Hardware acceleration disabled? I googled but found nothing.
Only a member of technet had the same problem, but did not get a valid response ... then at the end of the post I find his latest message that says << I solved animations slow HTA GUI using the "IE AUTOMATION ">>. When I found this little message I enlightened but then I could not find anything on Google.
I wonder what is the IE AUTOMATION, excusing ignorance?
I hope to get a response, but few know the HTA and think what they have encountered the same problem and these continuous graphics lag and slowness in scripts ...

IE 11 Rollout using the Admin Kit

Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help with a query around deploying IE11 with the prerequisite patches using the IE 11 Admin Toolkit

Prerequisite Patches: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2847882

MS Guide on Deployment with SCCM 2012 R2: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/How-to-deploy-Internet-0b98a8fb

I have bundled up the patches with the Admin Kit as directed via the document.

The problem appears to be that although the patches are in the deployment package for IE 11 the Installer still tries to go out to the internet to deploy the patches as shown in the IE 11 log

Does anyone know how to resolve.

I have tried to just run the installer manually on a fresh Windows 7 SP1 x64 install with no additional patches before the install

Program Launcher via HTML and Javascript

$

Hi guys,

I am trying to make a program launcher for one of my projects. Since the probably easiest way is HTML, I managed to make a webpage fully controlled by keyboard (Scroll menus, item execution) able to open .bat files (document.location/window.open/shell object, i've tried almost everything), so far so good.

But, I want to get rid of many alert prompts like: ActiveX is blocked, Enable? or This webpage is trying to run local program. So basically, I added MOTW, which forced my browser to automatically execute javascript without questioning me. BUT... it also blocked the option to run my .bat and .exe files. Anytime I call function that to this kind of stuff, the code from the point of calling .bat file opening to the rest of the function body is not executed (I put alerts between all the commands and only the very first one resolved).

I understand security hole this stuff could mean, but I am doing it on the computer that is trusted, offline and it will never ever go online. It even will never directly communicate with anything else.

So, anyone has idea how force browser to do this?
All reactions will be appreciated.

PS.: I am using IE11. I cannot use Firefox or Chrome due to their expensive performance, and I have minimal experience with Opera)

Infopath form hang with last IE11 Cumulative update

$

The problem is after updating IE11 last Cumulative update we noticed that problem appear on these workstations with MS Infopath forms. Situation is that it is not OS Dependent or Infofpath/Office dependent as problem arises as on x86 as on x64 workstations. Form starts to work really slow ( switch between rows take 10-15 seconds ) if you load bigger lists and try to switch from one entry to another, also it caches a lot of data ~200 MB into RAM and with each such load uses up to 2 GB then it gives error and closes it.

On Workstation where there is no IE11 the problem doesn`t exist and form with same lists use only 50-60 MB and works normally  ( 1 second for switch between rows ). Maybe someone has similar/same problem and know what causes it any change in some http request handling or something else?  As a workaround for now we have to uninstall IE11 on the critical Workstations.

Infopath performance issues after installing Internet Explorer 11

$

We have an large and complex InfoPath form that connects to external data sources and has many sections that can be hidden or expanded.  Staff complete this form using Office 2010 InfoPath Filler.

Since we upgraded our workstations to Internet Explorer 11, we have noticed a significant increase (from ~3 seconds to ~24 seconds) in the time it takes to expand a hidden section or add additional rows in the form.  Issue is reproducible when form is offline, so network, SharePoint and database connectivity issues don't appear to be related.  Computers are Domain members.

If I uninstall IE11, performance returns to the original value.  Same issue is occurs with InfoPath 2010 and InfoPath 2013, on Windows 7 and Windows 10.

With IE10 approaching EOL in January, we don't want to simply uninstall IE11, but need a solution to this huge performance impact on our primary InfoPath form.

Has anyone else taken performance hits since the install of IE11 in InfoPath or other applications, and have any suggestions as to the cause or potential solutions?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

IE 11 does not start after Update KB3087038 - IE just open and close itself after a few seconds (on first start only)

Hello,

we are experiencing the problem that after our Windows 7 clients got updated with KB3087038 that after a user is logging in (we are using mandatory profiles), Internet Explorer 11 is not starting the first time a user is clicking on the IE11 link.

Starting IE 11 shows the IE window with the loading circle in front of the IE window, just to close immediately after a few seconds. This is happening irregular, not on every first start of Internet Explorer.

On subsequent starts of IE11 within thesame user session IE is starting without a problem.

It took us several days to enclose the problem.
As our clients get their updates at different times (depending on their group membership) we saw this behavior on each client after update KB3087038 was installed (source: internal WSUS server).

I have a large number of "Favorites" created on my desktop which is running Windows 10 and Edge as the browser. I would like to have all of those same "Favorites" on my laptop that is also running windows 10 and Edge. How can I copy the "Favorites" file from my desktop to my laptop so that I don't have to enter one-by-one each site and mark it as a favorite on the laptop?

windows 10 internet explorer does not work with my emails

Opening .msg files with Outlook as default

Hi all,

I've been searching this all day to no avail. The situation we have is this

We use mail archiving with a browser interface (enterprise vault). when users double click an email in the browser search which is using IE it hands the .msg file to Internet explorer and begins an 'open or save?' routine. Clicking open will open in outlook. it does this EVERY time.

I want to default this behaviour so .msg files when opened in IE will call outlook automatically. I have searched high and low and found no result. The closest thing I've found

is by running

assoc .msg

this will give you the application that opens the file. then placing this at key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Shell \ AttachmentExecute \ {0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}

as a binary value with no data. should solve the issue.

I've found that this does NOT solve the issue. I cannot turn this behaviour off at all. Can anyone help? This is beyond irritating and is stopping the launch of a product. behaviour seems same in both IE9 and IE11 on windows 7 x64.

Tracking deleted cookies (IE10 & IE11)

I am trying to track down why cookies are being deleted from my Windows 7 system. The system is a member of AD and managed via Group Policy. I have checked all GPOs (Computer and User) and cannot find any IE setting that would force deletion of IE cookies.

I suspected 3rd party AV software may have been deleting cookies. I can confirm the AV software is deleting certain "tracking cookies" but not cookie I have an issue with. I have ran full on-demand scans as well as active-scans (ran at pre-boot and during the day), but the problem cookie is not removed.

I also relocated the "Temporary Internet Files" location to an alternate location, but the issue still persists. Note, it's just the cookie that is being deleted, not any other temporary internet files.

I've downloaded IECookiesView & FolderChangesView (both from nirsoft) and and trying to track changes to cookies and the cookie folder itself. I cannot manually reproduce the issue, it appears to he random.

I have added the specific web server to the "Local Intranet Zone" and current level for this zone is Medium-low.

Any suggestions welcome.
