Is there an add-on for IE10 which allows me to open a frame in a new window? It'ssimilar to the built in "this frame, open frame in new tab" right click option in Firefox.

is 32 bit or 64 bit the default?

On windows 7 64 bit OS. IE 8

If someone clicks a hyperlink in an e-mail for instance, or a shortcut on the desktop, will windows attempt to open said link with a 32bit browser or a 64bit browser?

when running classic asp web apps on IE9, IE9 does not recognise the home directory

Hi,

I am not familiar with ASP or IE9, so putting this out there for some help. I have a web app which was running fine on Win Vista IE7, then it was upgraded to Win7 IE9. Now its not working. Check into the code and found that IE9 is referring to the wrong directory when the home directory is not stated

Example:

Home directory - HOME

Sub-folder - ABC

When the code points to just ABC/ABC.asp, IE9 will not find the asp page, but when home directory is added, /Home/ABC/ABC.asp, IE9 can display the asp page. Is there a setting in IE9 that can be change to solve this without me having to change all the codes?

Thank you.

Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7. Group Policy Settings preventing Spell Check?

$

I work for a University. All campus computers are on Windows 7. We're getting ready to roll-out IE10. On the test computers that already have it, spell check isn't working. I've already checked that it's enabled. I also tested on non-domain computers, and IE 10 has no problem with spell check. So we must have a group policy set somewhere that's preventing it from functioning.

Could I get a list of Group Policy settings that may prevent spell check from functioning correctly?

Automatic logon with current username and password doesn't work sometimes for IE when LDAP is used-- Chrome has no problem -- Any Fixes?

I have already posted the question to Microsoft's IE support site at,

forum--> ie9-windows_7 --> automatic-logon-with-current-username-and-password

and I was asked to post the question in this tech form. Below is the question again,

Does anyone know why IE during Single Sign on session(IE8 and IE9) sends a authorization header and no request data during AJAX request even though session is valid?

What happens due to this our backend WCF service doesn't receive request parameters and the entire single sign on session fails, so user has to redo the entire login process.

Chrome and Firefox both doesn't have this problem.

Below is the detail of what I am doing,

1) We are using WCF Service.
2) We have enabled AD Login(Single sign on) with IE by adding our site to trusted site
and adding the Security -> Trusted site zone -> Custom leval -> Automatic logon with current username and password
3) We are sending AJAX request via ExtJS to get some backend data for our website.
4) Everything works most of the time
but for some reason sometimes the IE doesn't send request parameter (the content length is 0).
That causes our services to fail because it didn't got the parameters it needed(Actually we validate the para and throw service error).
We are not sure why it happens. I have searched internet and found there are similar complaints at,

pcreview.co.uk (Can't post the url here because this blog doesn't allow Urls)

But no answer exactly whats going on.
The problem happens for both IE8 and IE9.
We haven't tried IE10 and can't because our end users are not going to upgrade to IE10 or later.
The issue doesn't happen for Chrome.
Below are the fiddler logs(raw format) for request and response, (Not sure why authentication header is send while the session already exist).

Problems with IE10 and SharePoint webpart - Large font sizes

$

Hello all,

I encountered a problem when backing up the content database from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 (and while using IE10). After restoring and adding the content database to SharePoint 2013, I upgraded to UI 2013. My Web Part was assigned a large font size (this was working fine with IE9) because IE10 automatically added an h1 tag outside of the div tag.

I can use the SharePoint Designer to remove the h1 tag. But how can I remove the h1 tag via code behind (or do you have other suggestions)?

Thanks in advance,

/khoilh

IE10 policy query

We are planning on rolling out IE10 to our business and have heard that you are forced to use policies. Is this true?

In the past we gave users access to modify all their settings, can this still be done with IE10?

If we are forced to use policies can we specify default settings that will be applied only when IE is first launched then allow users to modify settings themselves without them be changed once the user logs off and on?

I know this is a very basic question but I have been unable to find a definitive answer

Thanks

Unable to open or save a document or an application in yahoo email or internet explorer 10-

I have been unable to open or save a document in my yahoo.com mail or any fix it tools applications found in internet explorer 10. This difficulty happened a few days ago. I get the E9 dialog box that says "do you want to open or save the ......file" Nothing happens when I click on open, save or save as. I have attempted several fixes to no avail. Gone into my security, updated the versions, everything but that dialog keeps appearing and will not allow me to open any documents and unfortunately any fix it tools that may be able to assist me. I found out that this is something that was implemented to help streamline downloading. It has caused me much time and energy, attempting to download important documents for my business. Does anyone have any updated information (2013) on how to disable this dialog box? My browser is Internet Explorer and my email is Yahoo. Thanks much for your assistance.

How do I disable tool tips on my favorites?

In my favorites list, when I go to hover over a link, my mouse lags and the system hangs while it loads the tool tip for the favorite. The tool tip that just tells me exactly what the link already says (so useful!). How can I disable these tool tips so my favorites menu is once again usable?

Deploying IE10 via SCCM Software updates

I have been waiting for Internet Explorer 10 to appear as an update that I can approve via the SCCM 2012 Software Update system.  I am seeing monthly Cumulative Security Updates for IE10 but I have not seen the actual Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7(x86)(x64) show up that I can approve and deploy with out making our own software deployment for IE10.  I was under the impression that at some point MS would release IE10 in the same fashion it did for IE9 in making it a software update.

In some online documents I see the need to have Update Rollups listed in the classifications for WSUS or SCCM Software Updates and I have that classification checked.  When I look at the individual products I dont see an entry for IE10 so I have been guessing it would just appear one month with the regular update release cycle.

Anyone have any idea if MS is going to release IE10 in this fashion or if I need to create my own deployment package for IE10 to get it deployed via SCCM to my organization.

OWA: All attachmnents present message "The file contained a virus and was deleted"

I have a remote client that encounters the following message using OWA-"The file contained a virus and has been deleted". The range of impact includes all files.  Note, the end user has no issue when using an alternate mail systems and browser based client with the same attachment(s).

The device in question is Windows 8 with the IE 10 browser.

I look forward to and welcome your feedback.

I mistakenly installed google chrome (thinking i was getting google earth) and then uninstalled it. It corrupted IE8 so that i cannot use windows explorer to view our ftp site. (which means that i cannot use our site). Google chrome also corrupted windows outlook but i used a Microsoft fix to cure that.

When i am at our ftp site and i go to "page" and then go to "Open ftp site in windows explorer" i get the error message "This site cannot be opened in windows explorer" I'm using IE8.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

ieframe.dll regsvr32 error 80004001

I just restored an HP G60 laptop with Vista Home Premium 32-bit from its factory restore partition, installed all MS updates, and am once again getting the 'unable to load webpage' error in IE9 related to ieframe.dll.  Ieframe.dll will still not register using regsvr32 in a cmd prompt as administrator.  This error is why I did a complete factory restore since I thought the laptop had been hit with malware, which no longer looks like the case.

My customer no longer wants this troubleshot and has agreed to just use Firefox and avoid IE9.  I could take the laptop back to IE8, but don't want to do that since MS update will keep offering IE9 anyway.

Even when running IE9 with no add-ons it still gets the ieframe error when it tries to reload the page (google.com set as homepage):  res://ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#google.com,http://www.google.com/

After doing the initial Vista restore and installing IE9 and Vista SP2, but before completing ALL MS updates, IE9 worked ok.  Then today, after all MS updates loaded, IE9 started again with the ieframe errors and ieframe.dll won't register and gives:  'regsvr32':  The module "ieframe.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with 0x80004001.

Since the customer won't tolerate any more troubleshooting on it, there's no way to try other fixes.  I'm just reporting it in the hopes that someone else will chime in or MS will pick up on it and find a fix.  I tried the troubleshooting found in the other forum post regarging this same problem, but it either didn't apply or didn't work.

Very frustrating...

IE 8 GPO Intranet & Trusted Sites not loading

I have a non domain member Windows Server 2008 R2.  I want to load a standard set of sites (Intranet and Trusted) that anyone that logs onto the box will use.  I have used local computer and user policies to do site assignment and that GPResult shows that the assignment is picked up.  However, when you go into IE 8 (32-bit or 64-bit) the zones are empty.  I am assuming that I must need more in my GPO, but I don't have a clue as to what else might need to be configured.

Autocorrect and underlining of unkown words

Hi

During editing in IE 10 browser-textboxes, IE underlines unknown words and corrects misspelled words automatically.

Since I post in different languages, I look for switching the language temporary, so IE may always correct in my prefered language.

Where do I switch from language to language?

Last October both the above suddenly emptied. With no access  I have not been able to use outlook for email since. Art the time I had a contract with HP Smart Friends and with their help the PST files were found, but they had fractured into 6 files. Smart Friends advised that sorting this out would be a problem. Being both an anachronism and a computer neophyte I followed instructions. The last months have been hell and I have spent over $1,000 on 2 Smart Friends contracts, 2 HP techs to visit our office, Staples Easy Tech Technician and finally an HP Engineer all why I was under warranty. Actually I still am!! So now I turn to you!!

I use outlook 2010 through Internet employer, Pop 3. Can you please help, I wish to return to out look

Thanks,

Jim

Internet Explorer 10 crashing

I'm having issues with IE 10 constantly crashing. The event viewer shows different types of errors every time. Most of the time the faulting modules will be MSHTML.dll or ntdll.dll and occasionally igd10umd32.dll. I have removed antivirus, tried disabling all add-ons, resetting Internet Explorer, and reinstalling IE. Compatability mode is enabled for sites that require it.

This is on a Windows 7 64-bit machine. Below are example of error messages.
