IE 11 Outlook Web Access Spell check not working

$

Greetings,

I'm using Windows, IE 11 and OWA (Outlook Web Access).  The spell check function has stopped working.  Previously, when sending an email, after hitting send, the red wiggly line would indicate misspelled words.  now OWA/IE just sends the message no matter how bad the spelling.  Yes, I went to the gears icon and checked to make sure spell check is enabled and I have the latest java version.  How do I fix this?

Certificate errors going to Yahoo Finance

$

Whenever anyone from my company tries to go to finance.yahoo.com using IE 11, the site takes a long time to load and then they get multiple certificate revocation errors.  Eventually after responding to the box several times, the page loads with some missing spaces for ads.

If we use Chrome, the page loads without the certificate errors but the ads are removed due to a setting in our firewall.

We do not use Certificate Services in our environment, so it appears to be something in the way that IE is handling the page.

Ideas on how to proceed without making my users use Chrome for some sites, Firefox for others and IE for still others.

Can't Access Networking Device via IE 8 on Windows Server 2008

Hello,

I am having trouble connecting to a network clock via HTTP that is connected directly to my server running Windows Server 2008.

I am able to successfully ping the device, and have a backup of the configuration showing that HTTP is enabled.

However, when I type "http://192.168.1.1" (for example), I receive the error:

Internet Explorer
Content within this application coming from the website listed below is being blocked by Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration
   about:internet
If you trust this website, you can lower security settings for the site by adding it to the Trusted sites zone...

[close][add...]

I tried adding 192.168.1.1 to the trusted sites, and then to the Intranet trusted sites, even disabling IE ESC with no success.

I am also confused at why it is saying that "about:internet" is being blocked and not "http://192.168.1.1".

Please help!

Whether it is possible to block somehow input of the address in the address bar of the IE 11 metro version started in the limited account in Windows 8? Or in general to clean address to a drain but that remained the electee's button.

e-Learning in IE11

On the Microsoft Digital Literacy page

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/DigitalLiteracy/curriculum3.aspx

If I launch the e-Learning from the browser all the videos play fine. There is however an option to download the e-Learning files. I have downloaded all the files and installed them but when I launch the e-Learning programs IE11 opens. I click the Allow Blocked content button. After clicking the Allow the next screen is presented.

When I run the e-Learning from the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/DigitalLiteracy/curriculum3.aspx the following screen is presented.

As you can see there is a difference between the 2 options.

If I continue with the off-line option and click the play button (Click To Begin)

and allow the block content once again I'm presented with the following error.

Object doesn't support property or method '_initError_'

I have tried the same on a Computer running Windows XP SP2 with IE 8 without any problem.

Unable to add IE11 Group Policy Preferences despite up to date template

Hi

I'm trying to create a GPO for IE11, specifically to set proxy settings etc. I have loaded the latest IE ADMX and ADML into the Group Policy Central store and refreshed group policy on the client I am using to create the policy.

When I go to User--Preferences--Control Panel Settings--Internet Settings then New, I only have options for:

Internet Explorer 5 and 6

Internet Explorer 7

Internet Explorer 8

Is there something I am doing incorrectly as I would expect to see an option for IE10 and 11 here?

I can see new IE11 specific settings in the Admin Templates section, Enterprise Mode etc so its obviously getting something from the INETRES.admx (version 11.0)

Thanks

Jonathan

IE11 on Windows 7 using wrong User-Agent value and breaking websites

$

Hi.

I've noticed some websites reporting that I am using an old and unsupported version of Internet Explorer, even though I am running a fully patched IE11 on Windows 7 64-bit.

It should be noted that I have no URLs listed in my compatibility view list, and neither do I have the 'use Microsoft compatibility list' checkbox set, and there is no compatibility view icon showing in the address bar.

I do have Enhanced Protected Mode enabled, which as far as I can identify on a Windows 7 platform has no effect other than to force all iexplore.exe processes to be 64-bit (whereas without EPM enabled the default behaviour is for the parent iexplore.exe process to be 64-bit but all browser tab processes to run as 32-bit).

I also have EMET installed (in case that is having any impact).

A couple of example sites that report that my browser is too old (and therefore refuse to function with my browser) are Google Maps (www.google.co.uk/maps) and the login page of Game Golf (www.gamegolf.com).

I performed a packet capture using Wireshark to see if I could see why these websites think my browser is unsupported and to my surprise the HTTP request header from the browser contained a User-Agent string with a value that reported:

Mozilla/8.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Geko

The "Mozilla/8.0" bit stands out as being odd, in that 8.0 looks like too high a version number, but I assume that it is primarily the MSIE 6.0 reference that is falsely triggering the 'old browser' detection.

Visiting www.useragentstring.com also reports the same value.

This looks like some form of compatibility mode kicking in, even though, as stated above, this feature is not enabled.

For comparison I set up a simple PHP page on my own (Internet hosted) web server which echoes back the value of the HTTP Request Header value for User-Agent string, and also uses client-side JavaScript to query the browser User-Agent String.

When visiting this page with the browser, and again running a Wireshark packet capture, both the header value and the client-side query agree that the User-Agent string has the expected IE11 value of:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Geko

So what is causing the browser to emulate the MSIE 6.0 UA string and report a Mozilla major version number of 8 for some websites, but not others?

Any ideas/suggestions/information would be most welcome.

Many thanks.

IE 11 Enterprise Mode on Remote Desktop Server

$

Hi,

I've enabled IE11 Enterprise Mode and setup an XML-file on a fileshare which I've created using "Enterprise Mode Site List manager".

When I logon with my test-user and launc IE, after aprox 65 seconds I get the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\internet explorer\Main\EnterPriseMode\ CurrentVersion string updated to the current version of my XML-file. I can then browse the sites and verify that Enterprise Mode is enabled for the sites that I have specified in my XML-file

The problems I'm facing is that if I logout my user and then log back on again to the server and start IE and brwose the sites Enterprise Mode is no longer enabled for them. Also if my user has manually specified some sites for enterprise mode this does not live between sessions.

Where in the profile does IE EM store the data over which websites that are supposed to be in entprise mode? I've found under AppData\Local\ EmieSiteList and EmieUserList but theese 2 catalogs only contains "container.dat" which is 0 KB?

Anyone know? Has anyone gotten IE EM to work in RDS?

Jonas

Need new location of Favorites Bars for ALL USERS for Windows 7

$

I work in an Enterprise size world and I often need to add a link to the IE Favorite Bar forALL users without removing or changing the links they have put on their favorites bar individually. This need, of course, is just a common need for ANY enterprise size organization. We are changing our learning system from one venders to another. The URL for the new system is different than the old one. I have PCs that are used by several different people. That means that there is more than one profile under the "users" folder. (Windows 7 Enterprise)

Knowing Microsoft's reputation for paying attention to the details and working very hard to make life easy and to use common sense process' for Enterprise level control of Win 7 etc I am sure that there is a folder/registry location or some such thing/location where I can via a .bat file create a link that will show up for ALL users in the IE Favorite Bar. (LOL) Needless to say the URLs in this location areadded to the existing "User Specific" links in the users Favorites Bar and areNOT REPLACING them. This of course is just a common sense need of the Enterprise IT world.

I have seen suggestions that one change the pointer in the registry to their Favorite folder, for all users individually to a common folder, but, needless to say, that would be a foolish way to do it as it, at the least, it will remove the ability for an individual to have links in their Favorite Bar that do not show up for everyone else and programmatically I would have to "discover" all the names of the individual profiles etc and load and change those settings in the individual hives. Do able in a full blown programming language like VB, but not so much in a .bat file. (Yes I can load a hive in a .bat file, but which hive?)

In Windows XP you could use the "All Users" profile and put these "common" for All users links in there and they would immediately be available for all users. This was a common sense way to handle this need and, of course, it should never have been changed, but it seems that Microsoft with their usual lack of care or common sense or interest in the Enterprise needs of their customers, the ones who spend the most on their products, DID NOT carry this COMMON SENSE approach over the Window 7.

I would like to think that Microsoft is not so stupid as to have completely removed any possible way to have a common place to put URL links that will be available for EVERYONE via the IE Favorites Bar, without removing the individuals ability to also have URL links that are only used by them and not all users on the same bar in IE.Unfortunately though, it seems, so far, that Microsoft HAS BEEN JUST THAT STUPID!

So what I need to know is, has Microsoft been that stupid, or have I just not used the right "Google" phrase to search out the correct answer with? If there is a way and Microsoft was not as STUPID as they seem, then please tell me and the hundreds and thousands of other enterprise level IT people who need this capability exactly where it has been moved to? It does not seem to be under the new "Programdata" folder where they moved the global "Stat Menu" too for no good reason.

Thanks to all that can help, and please feel free to add your displeasure to mine over the lack of care for the needs of IT in an enterprise world to be able to push global links etc via programing, .bat files etc without removing individual ability to have their own with the global.

Common sense say's that any folder with a name like "All users", or as it is now called , "Public" should provide the means to do just what we at the enterprise level need to do. If I need to put something on everyone's start menu, that is where it should be, NOT PROGRAMDATA! It is inexcusable that Microsoft would take away such common sense. Why even have a "Public" folder anymore if it doesn't contain the most commonly needed folders, favorites, desktop, start menu, etc.

Thanks again,

Ralph

IE Document Com Object is nulled after using Navigate()

$

Dear Experts,

I have attempted to script IE using Powershell, but since Windows 10 + IE11, I am unable to read anything from the Document object.

Example code:

$ie = new-object -com InternetExplorer.Application
$ie.visible = $true

$ie.navigate("http://www.google.com")

If I now print $ie.Document, all I see is:

System.__ComObject

If I run Powershell as Administrator, this works fine.

In Windows 8, I could solve this by disabling Protected Mode in Internet Explorer, with that disabled everything worked fine, but this is no longer the case in Windows 10.

How can I read the Document object properties as a non-admin, after using the Navigate method of the IE Com Object?

We have SCCM 2012 R2 and I'm trying to install IE11. I made an install package with IEAK11 and have put the prerequisites in it following this tuto -> http://prajwaldesai.com/deploy-internet-explorer-11-using-sccm-2012-r2/

In the past I used SCCM2007 and had a vbs script that installed IE11 without problem and prereqs.

We are having problems using Exchange 2010 ECP on IE8/9/10 after applying update KB3038314 - When you go to "Manage my organization" IE will lock up trying to load a list of mailboxes.

This doesn't happen if KB3038314 isn't installed or when using firefox.  Is anyone else  having this issues?
