hello,
All the websites are opening up as intranet sites and by default protected mode is off for local sites.
What should I change in IE 10, that all websites will start opening up in internet zone.
Thanks
IE 10 will not install in Windows 7 64 bit SP1
I go past the prompt that says "restarting programs". Then the installation fails. The updates are all up to the minute.
Please help me install IE 10
Here is the log. Same error in three tries. It gives the IE10 Failed to install message.

I'm working in a corporate environment where the Win7 workstations are pretty locked down. Users are not allowed to do things via Control Panel / Programs.... nor to update their own systems.
But I need a way to re-install or repair IE8 when necessary. I'm wondering if there is a command that I can kick off (using admin privileges if needed, via our deployments) to repair IE8's install. That is, if it can be done via Control Panel / Programs .../"Turn Windows Features On or Off", then there surely must be an underlying command to perform the repair.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? Also please note that if I try to use the IEAK to design a deployment of IE8, it only applies settings and has absolutely no effect on the program files themselves. [I tested by renaming iexplore.exe, and the file was not replaced through any method that I tried to re-install IE8, except going via control panel as noted above.)
Thanks for any assistance.
Hi, I'm been searching the web, but can't find details on dates for support/cover for Internet Explorer? I'm particular interested in knowing for how many more years Microsoft will support IE8 and IE9?
Thanks.
Hello --
I have a clean install of Win7 Professional (32-bit).. installed Adobe Reader 9.. installed Win7 SP1 and all necessary and recommended updates.. updated Reader to v9.5.5 (this is the only/latest version supported by some of our company software).. There is nothing else installed on this machine.
The problem: When I open IE10, click on a pdf link (the pdf displays properly in the browser), click the Print icon in the upper-left, click Properties in the Print dialog, the Properties dialog comes up and then freezes. The tabs, buttons, and mouse pointer graphically change, but clicking does nothing. Clicking the underlying Print dialog box makes the Properties box flash, so it's not totally locked, but just unresponsive to clicks. The only way to close the dialog box is to stop the iexplore process in taskmgr. This happens with any printer selected (tested on local and network printers, and even MS XPS Doc Writer, and Fax).
I can save the pdf and print from Reader directly with no problem, and I understand that I can deselect "Display pdfs in browser" in Reader options, however, those workarounds won't satisfy the users.
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this or how to proceed further in troubleshooting this.. Can anyone lend a hand please?
Thanks.
Hi !
We are deploying IE9 via SUP in SCCM 2007 and it keeps failing on almost 50% of the computers in our environment. We are deploying this to Windows 7 computers.
I've tried most solutions I've found on when googling.
This is my notes from my testing.
***This is Log file from en failed Installation***

I'm happy for any suggestions, I have almost 18.000 that needs this update, and 50% failure is not really something I want to deal with.

I work for a University. All campus computers are on Windows 7. We're getting ready to roll-out IE10. On the test computers that already have it, spell check isn't working. I've already checked that it's enabled. I also tested on non-domain computers, and IE 10 has no problem with spell check. So we must have a group policy set somewhere that's preventing it from functioning.
Could I get a list of Group Policy settings that may prevent spell check from functioning correctly?
Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me out here. Today I open my IE9 and this web site (search.conduit.com/?SearchSource=10&ctid=CT3196716) opens instead of my normal home page (msn.com/). I have tried to change it back, trying different methods but to no avail. Each time and in each different way I tried a small window pops up stating “attempt to change homepage has been blocked”. Does anyone know of a solution were I can set my home page back to MSN.com? By the way I’m running windows 7.
Thank you,
I have a Windows 7 x86 Service Pack 1.
I'm unable to install Internet Explorer 10 on my computer even though all the minimum requirements are met. Here are more details.
I have IE9 installed. But Windows Updater always shows that I have an optional update for "Installing IE9". When I try to install it, it always fails.
I tried installing "Internet Explorer 10" through Windows update. But it also failed.
So I came here and followed the advice given on this forum and I tried to uninstall Internet Explorer. But When I went to "Turn Windows features On or Off", it was totally blank. I waited for a minute or two, but nothing showed up.
I realized I'm struck with Internet Explorer 9 for now. Can somebody help me out of this mess? PlEASE.
I own and use an HP G62-347 laptop. AMD Dual Core "Vision" with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OS. This is my third HP laptop, and 12th or so computer since the 90's. A few weeks ago, I downloaded and installed Firefox v 13.0.1 to give it a try. This is the first time I have tried Firefox for browsing. A week or so ago, Adobe updated their Flash to v 11.3.300.362 and it downloaded and installed on my system. ( I am sure other things might have happened, but this is all I remember at this time ) Firefox then started acting funny, flashing windows between "Not Responding" and back to a normal window, Flash started crashing, and everything went "buggy." I tried IE9, and Flash wasn't working there. When I went to "Manage Add On's"all of my Add On's were "Disabled." I clicked on the first to choose it, in order to "Enable" it but all of the buttons in the window were greyed out and not functional. Each of some 10 or so add ons were the same way. Nothing worked in that window. And IE9 was not working either.
I tried to uninstall it and then to reinstall it following Microsoft Answers and knowledge base articles, using it Uninstall/View Updates routine, "Fix It" and using the "FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart", information and directions as well. Running that as admin., 5 times gave me Ox8007371B and Ox80070005 error messages referring to 2 Optional Packages, 2 other Packages with the same numbers and tildes as the Optional ones, and packages referred to as Top Level and Vista Plus Update, andMini LPW... all failing with one of those two error numbers above.
I haven't tried yet to do a straight reinstall yet, as this is where I am and am unsure if I am making things worse. I haven's done a system restore yet because I would have to go through the process of reinstalling a couple of new programs, etc...
I still have a very buggy IE9 as described, and the Firefox has been goofy with the Adobe Update as well. Is there anything I can do other than a System Restore to fix this that would be easier than the System Restore process? I have all of my Favorites and bookmarks from IE9 saved elsewhere.
Thank you for your help!

It is a known issue that the Quicktime plugin will hijack file associations and play content within the browser, regardless of your file associations. Simply disabling the plugin in the Internet Explorer options doesn't always seem to work. When you try to open a media file on a website upon disabling the plugin, the browser will display a red X and the media will not play. Even with your Windows file associations configured to open with the media player of your choice, the Quicktime plugin will still take precedence. Uninstalling Quicktime will resolve the issue. However, if you are like me and own an Apple device, you must have Quicktime installed to use iTunes. I've searched the web for a solution, but none of the suggested methods worked.
Well, I have finally figured out how to remove the plugin without, as it seems so far, breaking iTunes. Here is what I did:
Close out of Internet Explorer. Backup and then delete the registry entry below. I have provided the reg.exe commands to make it easier than going through the registry editor. NOTE: The registry values below are for 64-bit Windows. For 32-bit Windows, I'll assume that you just need to remove the Wow6432Node from the path and target "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\" instead. If that is not it, search the registry for the Quicktime CLSID ID (long string of characters and numbers in the paths below).
reg export "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{4063BE15-3B08-470D-A0D5-B37161CFFD69}" D:\qt_plugin\qt1.reg
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{4063BE15-3B08-470D-A0D5-B37161CFFD69}" /f
If that doesn't get it, try these as well. Just delete and test one at a time.
reg export "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{CB927D12-4FF7-4A9E-A169-56E4B8A75598}" D:\qt_plugin\qt2.reg
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{CB927D12-4FF7-4A9E-A169-56E4B8A75598}" /f
reg export "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B}" D:\qt_plugin\qt3.reg
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B}" /f
reg export "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components\3F9E7EA97A1AEE54490637032025DEF9" d:\qt_plugin\qt4.reg
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components\3F9E7EA97A1AEE54490637032025DEF9" /f
Startup Internet Explorer and test (a reboot shouldn't be required). For me, IE reverted back to opening media files with my default player, Windows Media Player. I assume it will have the same results for other media players. I am not sure if this solution will work for other web browsers.
Hello:
I have win 8 installed and when I run IE 10 in desktop mode it will startup correctly, but eventually, the top menu area in the window where the close (X) and minimize (-) appear disappears and it becomes transparent to the background and not useable.
Nothing I have done has fixed this problem - any ideas out there?
