From "Mark 1" i know the problem is "The referenced assembly is not installed on your system". Then i try to use System native DISM to deploy the IE11-neutral.Extracted.cab package, but i got the same error message as above.
The question is: 1. How can i know exactly which assembly is missing? 2. Can i get the missing assembly's GUID just like the same problem during the Office Setup?

PS. All system update has been successfully installed.

command line argument for IE9 and IE10

Im trying to get the list of command line argument for IE 9 and IE 10(i.e iexplore.exe). Browsing for the same brings me to this page "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee330728%28VS.85%29.aspx" , which says the content moved. Below in that page is a link which is not useful either.

This link "http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh826025%28v=vs.85%29.aspx" has some information but it does not mention which arguments are supported in IE9 and IE10.

Can anyone guide me to page which has complete information about the same? Also is there a "help" switch  for iexplore.exe which i can pass in command line and get complete information?

How can I change IE10's default browser mode to IE8?

$

My company is a little outdated and IE8 is the only compatible browser that I can use for my job.  I just had to get a new computer and it has windows 8.  I know if I open up IE10 and press F12 I can then change the browser mode from IE10 to IE8, but I have to do that for every window.  Is there a way to change it to where it defaults to IE8 mode?

Just to be clear what I am basically saying is I have to user internet explorer for my job, there is no alternative.  I am also saying that if the browser is not IE 8 or in IE 8 mode, it won't work at all.  I am trying to find a way where I don't have to manually change it to IE 8 mode everytime I open a new tab or window on Internet Explorer.

Please help!
Thank you

Kyle

P.S. I have seen this kind of question asked before and seen this answer:

Hi,

there is Quirks, Near Standards and Standards modes.... the Document and Browser modes are for testing purposes...visitors to your sites should not have to consider what browser or version they are using... code to standards and offer fallbacks for browser versions that don't support the features of your website.

for any web page validate you web pages with a valid document type and correct the errors to allow the web browser to parse and render the document in 'Standards' mode.... Different IE version are capable of (have been programmed for) different releases (versions) of (x)html. IE8 and higher are capable of displaying validated in Standards mode... IE8, IE9 and IE10 have different error corrections and symbol tables and various levels of implementation of the css2 and 3 specs. (see w3c.org)

I have absolutely no idea what any of that means, and it doesn't seem to be answering my question.  Just wanted to clarify that this answer would not help me, or that I don't understand it.

Spelling Correction Add-On for Internet Explorer 10 on Windows Server 2012 Missing

Hi

Has anyone else found that the Internet Explorer 10 Spelling Correction Add-On is missing on Windows Server 2012? I am running Windows Server 2012 as Session based RDS servers and on each server the Spelling Correction Add-On is missing completely. My version of IE 10 is 10.0.9200.16635 and the server is fully patched with the latest updates. Is it possible to install/add/enable the add-on? I have searched extensively for a resolution but have found no reference to this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows Server 2012 manage add-ons does not show the spelling correction add-on:

DRM upgrade error

I am using Windows 7 64-bit and IE9. I recently received a couple of blu-ray movies with a digital copy. Upon trying to install them I got a message saying I needed to upgrade the most recent version of windows media player (i already have WMP 12). After several emails back and forth with Paramount they were unable to help me with my issue and I was told it was a Microsoft issue. Here are the instructions they sent me:

Hello,

The problem you’re facing is because of issues with DRM components on your PC. To correct this issue we provide a link to Microsoft's security update page, which you can also go to directly here: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp
Disable ad-blocking software to ensure the page loads correctly. This page must be viewed in Internet Explorer.

If doing this has no effect, you may need to remove/rename the DRM cache on your system and re-upgrade Windows Media security components. Here’s how:
  1. Verify that theShow hidden files and folders option is turned on. To do this, follow these steps:

    Windows 7
    1. Start Windows Explorer. To do this, clickStart, typeuserinit.exe in theStart Search box, and then press ENTER.
    2. ClickOrganize, and then clickFolder and Search Options.
    3. Click theView tab.
    4. Clickthe option beside SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS - click Apply - click OK

  2. Locate the DRM folder on the computer. Typically, the DRM folder is located in the following location.
Note In these paths, drive represents the drive on which Windows is installed.
Windows 7
o   Windows 7 x86-based versions
drive:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM
o   Windows 7 x64-based versions
drive:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM

Rename the DRM folder to DRMbackup.
    1. Right-click the DRM folder, and then clickRename.
    2. Type DRMbackup, and then press ENTER.
    3. Close Windows Explorer.
If you receive an “Access denied” error message when you try to rename your DRM folder, start the computer in safe mode and log in as the computer administrator. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Restart the computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start multiple operating systems, press the F8 key when theBoot menu appears.
    2. Select thesafe mode option when theWindows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
Reset the DRM security component. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site, and then follow the steps to upgrade the DRM security component:
http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506
Note When you access this site through Internet Explorer on a Windows 7-based computer, you may receive a "user account control" popup message that requires that you enter the administrator password to continue.
NoteIf you are running Windows 7 x64 and the Upgrade button on the site listed earlier in this step appears dimmed, you will have to start Internet Explorer by using an account on the computer that has Administrative privileges in order to continue.
Please go to the Digital Copy web page again, select “Transfer to Windows Media Player” and follow further instructions in case of Digital Download. In case you have a Digital Copy disc, please insert the disc and select transfer to Windows Media Player.

Restore the setting of theHidden files and folders option. To do this, follow these steps:
                       Windows 7
    1. Start Windows Explorer. To do this, clickStart, type userinit.exe in theStart Search box, and then press ENTER.
    2. ClickOrganize, and then clickFolder and Search Options.
    3. Click theView tab.
    4. ClickAdvanced Settings.
    5. UnderHidden files and folders, clickDo not show hidden files and folders, click to select theHide Protected Operating System files (recommended) check box, and then clickOK.

Please reply back to us and let us know in case of further issues!

Thanks!
DIGITAL COPY SUPPORT

I tried everything they suggested, but when I went to IE, the upgrade button was grayed out. They suggested this:

Hello,

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 and the Upgrade button is not active when you go to the security update page at http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.aspyou may also need to disable protected mode in Internet Explorer to get the page to load correctly. Here's how:

1.   Launch Internet Explorer.
2.   Select Tools from the top menu, and click Internet Options.
3.   In the panel that pops up, select the Security tab.
4.   Uncheck the option for “Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer)”
5.   Click Apply, OK, and close the Internet Explorer browser.
6.   Restart Internet Explorer and go to the address http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp
7.   The Upgrade button should now be operational.

Thanks!
DIGITAL COPY SUPPORT

the upgrade button was not operational when I tried their suggestion. After emailing them back another time they told me that it was a Microsoft issue.

any ideas on what I might be able to do?

Thanks

how to disable ie10 spellcheck via gpo

$

0

hello,

i'm currently preparing an upgrade from ie9 to ie10. while it is generally quite annoying due to microsoft finally abandoning the old ie maintenance and switching over to gp preferences which are wonderfully buggy, the most annoying part is that it seems impossible to disable the spell check 'feature' through gpo.

even better, even if the system and ie language preference are set to another language, the spell check seems to default to english (USA).

and after an hour or two of digging through the group policies and googling around (seems like no one else has problems with that behaviour) i'm definitely ready to ask for help.

so, anyone here who already solved that problem (or at least has been able to set a default language)?

cheers

Internet Explorer 9 "download attachment" option unavailable

Hello,

I have a problem in terms of Internet Explorer 9 handling with attachments .Txtor. Csv: On a 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise workstation with IE9, csv files are automatically opened in a new tab without displaying the save / open options. The regular (in IE8) windos for saving files is not showing in any  other tested browsers, Firefox 21 and Chrome.

I did a downgrade to Internet Explorer 8 and the problem was gone on all browsers, I went back to Internet Explorer 9 and again I face this problem. I reset IE settings to default, check for add-ons, tried to open the website without addons, non of this worked.  I tried also IE 10 and 11 and the problem is the same. It affects the settings for all other browsers.

I need to make this work in Internet Explorer 9, if there is any other solution, please help!

Thanks in advance!

IE8 Download Issue In Windows 7

Hi,

I've seen various posts about people having issues with downloading files, with resolutions for those people. Unfortunately they havn't helped me.

I have a user who is using Windows 7 32bit. When using IE8 and trying to download PDF's, Zip's or anything else it would automatically try to download without any prompt for a location. The file appears to download with the progress bar as you would expect, but then nothing opens for run, and nothing appars in the folder location when trying to save.

I managed to get IE to ask for the location by deleting the regkey HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Shell \ AttachmentExecute \ {0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046.

I've checked to see if 'do not save encrypted pages to disk' is unchecked, turned off SEP, re-installed IE8, deleted 'C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\index.dat', but the issue still exists. The user does not have the same issue on another PC, however other users do have the same issue on this PC.

I've been searching forums and Google for 2 days now, any help would be greatly apprecieated.

Thanks,

Tim

Internet Explorer 10 won't keep me logged in

I installed Win 8, and I'm using IE10. But when I visit some of my favorite forums and web pages (forum.tauri.hu, prohardver.hu, etc.) and I choose the "Keep me logged in" option, after browser restart, or in mid browsing, I get logged out, and have to re log in. Using another browser, I don't have a problem, but on my laptop only IE can play 720p or 1024p Youtube videos fluently.

I tried resetting, without success. But yahoo.com, live.com can keep me logged in.

Folders Not Showing In Internet Explorer 10 Protected Mode

$

0

Ok, this question has been asked around many corners of the Internet and these forums and I haven't found a "real" answer so I'm asking it again and hopefully seeking a final resolution to the problem.

Symptoms

  • When "Protected Mode" is turned On, users are unable to view some folders in the file upload dialog that they can normally view (e.g. under Documents, Pictures, etc.).
  • When viewing the same folders in Explorer running as the same user as the Internet Explorer instance, the missing folders are viewable.
  • Launching Internet Explorer "as an administrator" allows the user to view the missing folders (but this is not recommended due to security concerns).

Workarounds

So far, the workaround that I found was to either run some crazy tool from BleepingComputer called Unhide that resets everything on your system -- this is the sledge hammer-to-thumbtack approach.  Another one was to go into Organize > Folder and search options > View and uncheck the hide options and select the show radio option.  The last one was to search for the folder in the file upload dialog, right-click the folder, and uncheck Hidden.

None of these, IMHO, are valid solutions to the real problem which is that something is special about this folder that is causing IE in Protected Mode to treat the file as Hidden.

Thoughts

The last "workaround" seems to indicate that the "hidden" file attribute is set for the file, but this doesn't appear to be true if you view the file outside of Protected Mode security.  If you right-click the folder within Explorer or you run ATTRIB, the file attributes appear normal.

What I'm thinking is that there is an extended attribute associated with this file that is not normally viewable in the file properties dialog.  Similar to the "temporary" file flag that gets set with some files that causes DFSR to not replicate them.  However, when I look at the File Attributes with fsutil, both folders (one that is shown and one that isn't shown under Protected Mode) are 0x10 (which is simply DIRECTORY).  I also verified the same with PowerShell looking at the Attributes property of the directory (System.IO.FileAttributes object): the value__ is 16 which is 0x10 (DIRECTORY).

So, it seems that the process of displaying folders (and possibly files) in either Protected Mode or the common dialog for file selection uses somethingother than the file attributes when determining what is displayed and not displayed.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

IE9 doesn't display Instagram Profile Pages

The behavior of instagram profile pages links in IE9 is that it goes to a login page instead of the profile page.  It works correctly in IE8 and IE10, Chrome, FF, Safari.

Does anyone know of a workaround for IE9 (additional code in the link?) that would solve for this issue?

User prompted to login repeatedly

I have been searching to find an answer to this for two days and all of the answers I come up with are the same. I am hoping someone can point to something new to try

I have a user that is trying login to a site on our intranet using Internet explorer 8 installed on a new Windows 7 Machine.  When the user enters his username and password he is immediately asked to enter his username and password again. If the user enters his information 5-6 times he is eventually logged into the site.

This user is able to logon to the same site with no problem from his old windows XP machine and can also logon through Firefox on the windows 7 computer.

Other users can access this site using using IE8 on windows 7.

I have had the user check that for the intranet "Automatic Logon with Current User name and password" is enabled and that "Enable Integrated windows Authentication" is checked.  And his security settings for the local Intranet are set to low.

I have had the user set his Privacy setting to allow all cookies.

When the user is attempting to login it is showing that he is connected to the local Intranet.  I have double checked and made sure that his computer has the correct domain.

Can someone point me to something else to try so that I can get this user logged into the domain?

IE 10 feature question

Hi,

I was a heavy Chrome user before I bought the Windows 8 and start using IE 10. Despite my bad experience with previous IE versions, I decide to take a look of the new IE 10 and I definitely loving it.

It seems lighter on resource than Chrome but lacking some functionality that I usually use on Chrome. I was wondering if IE 10 provide these functions below, or will it be supported on future release?

  • Closing multiple tabs: On chrome, I was able to close tabs to the right ( keep all tabs to the left )
  • Opening text link: context menu when selecting a link text ( open selected link on a new tab )
