Enterprise Mode | Site List | 65 Second Delay for new Site List Version (hoping there is a way to adjust)

Regarding the 65 second delay when an updated Site List exists...

We just updated our Intranet Site which happens to be the mandatory home page for all of our users.  The new Intranet site does not need Enterprise Mode anymore, so we removed it from Site List.  The unfortunate part of this is that the new site looks malformed until the 65 second wait for the new Site List gets pulled.  Monday morning when our users start opening the new page, we were hoping we can have this worked out somehow where the Site List will be automatically pulled prior to the first launch.  Is there any way to force a Site List change (even PowerShell or vbs script)?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Environment Info:

    • Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit
    • Internet Explorer 11 (fully patched)
    • Hosting Enterprise Mode Site List on Internal Server

    Thanks,

    Mitch

Kiosk mode of Internet Explorer(switch -k) is unconfigurable

Is it possible to implement following features/switches in IE regarding kiosk mode: -kioskresettime (returning to the home page after declared time of inactivity)
-kioskhomebutton (Home button visible while in kiosk mode)
-kiosknavbuttons (Back and Forward navigation buttons visible while in kiosk mode)
-kioskaddressbar (addressbar visible in kiosk model)
-contextmenuoff (disables contextmenu available from right-mouse-click)?

Internet Explorer 9 stops using PAC File

$

Hi,

several machines that have Internet Explorer 9 installed suddenly stopped connecting to the internet using a PAC file. Chrome as well as Firefox work with the PAC file set in IE, setting a static proxy adress in the Proxyserver field in IE works too for all browsers including IE9.

I tried reverting to IE 8 which seems to accept the PAC, after reinstalling IE9 it stops working again, i tried both a local file as well as a PAC hosted on a web server, to no avail. PAC file is tested on all 3 browsers and works on 99% of the Win 7 computers, so its not a problem with the syntax, im at a loss of idea here.

Path set for the PAC File://C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\Proxy.pac

Does someone have an idea how to fix this or some way to troubleshoot this problem any further?

Thanks in advance.

Permissions bug, according to ISP engineer.

I am having problems setting up VPN for Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, home workstation computer, not networked.

I am also having general non-specific problems with Internet connectivity, according to network engineers.

I having a WiFi Mac and a hard-wired cable connect PC sharing the same modem at home.

The two machines are not 'networked', but standalone workstations. Relevant?

Specifically, I get script errors when I try to setup any 3rd party VPN service.

I can ignore error and VPN sets up.

But then the number of non-specific problems increase.

All of the 3rd party vendors, AND MY ISP ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT... blame Windows.

LOL! Maybe more specifically, there's something Windows and I should be doing, that we are not doing.

I noticed that my Ethernet Network has not selected Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol.

Image

What happens if I install this "Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol"?

Is this why VPN is grumpy?

I found these two interesting links, but they don't point me in any specific direction.
( Direction? I am lost. That is why I am posting here? )

http://batcmd.com/windows/8/services/ndisimplatform/

http://www.ehow.com/list_6774290_multiplexing-protocols.html

Also, every time I click Diagnose (hiding behind Properties popup in above capture), I get errors after installing Windows. Microsoft Research did something here, and the errors are gone in this particular  Windows installation, but I still can't install VPN without errors.

Very simply, the batcmd files runs as follows:

@echo off
sc config NdisImPlatform start= demand
exit

Anecdote   MNAMP is for Network Teaming and Binding. Provides a platform for network adapter load balancing and fall-over.

Query   MNAMP may resolve some permissions issue that causes VPN installers to display 'SCRIPT ERROR' during install. Considered that script error displays without Windows popup error and may be related to "waiting for Windows Firewall to respond". At same time Windows Event viewer shows Error (reasoned with ISP engineer just now, possible Windows 8.1 Pro permissions bug, with implications far beyond VPN installer hangs):

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and when I updated to Internet Explorer 11 when I click on the icon all I get is the swirl for 2 seconds and then nothing.  I removed IE 11 and reverted to IE 10 and the same thing happens.  Google Chrome is working fine. Any suggestions? I have tried it without the add-ons and get the same result.  Nothing else has changed.

Cannot install any version of IE

Hi there,

I am having some issues with one of our Terminal Servers, which is running Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit. It did have IE9 installed and when tried to upgrade this to IE10 or IE11 it was failing with the error "Internet Explorer did not finish installing".

There is no much helpful info in the event logs either.

So, following some other advice on here, I was pointed to the fact it could be that IE9 was corrupt and could be upgraded. I was advised to remove IE9 and try installing it again and then go through the upgrade process. However, there is an issue here. Once IE9 was removed (through Uninstall an update in Control Panel), IE8 wasn't there. I still cannot install IE 9, 10 or 11 on this server now. What's also a concern is that now I cannot open Event Viewer or any other MMC as it shows an error about MMC will not run with a version of Internet Explorer earlier than IE 5.5.

Any tips or ideas on how to resolve this?

I have been coding for my MediaWiki pages and needed to test these pages with IE 11. Unable to view SSL certificate in IE11

Hi,

I'm feeling really dumb but I can't figure out how to view the details of an SSL certificate in IE11.

On previous version of IE you would simply click on the padlock that appears in the address bar and then select view certificate. On IE11 the padlock does not appear. The particular problem I'm having is that I'm trying to diagnose why Windows 8.1 with IE11 is rejecting a perfectly valid cert. All I get is a screen telling me that there is a problem with the certificate (it says that the cert is revoked) but no details and I can't figure out how to view the details.

Internet Explorer 11 Enterprise mode site list

Hi there,

Thanks in advance for reading this post.

I'm experiencing problems with Enterprise Mode site list for IE11. I wish to know the limitations of this feature (or understand how it works). I should have thoses "sites" in Enterprise mode:

http://myserver.mydomain.com/app1

http://myserver.mydomain.com/app2

....

The problem is that behind the mydomain.com/ the url is moving.. like:

http://myserver.mydomain.com/app1/reports

http://myserver.mydomain.com/app2/pages

I cant get the whole things /app2 coming in Enterprise mode. The only way I can make it work is putting myser.mydomain.com in Enterprise mode. But we have other application on this server that shouldn t be in Enterprise mode.

Thanks in advance. The web developpers wont move and count on me.....

I added live tile support for my websites. This is really cool, but how can I set the background color of the live tile to the system accent color?

<meta name="application-name" content="PROCON-WEB" /><meta name="msapplication-TileColor" content=" #008A00" />

The tile background should adapt to the system background image or accent color.

Error 40007 when attempting to install IE11x64 on my reference image.

Hi Everyone,

MDT2013 buildout of Windows 7 64-bit and I'm running into an issue trying to get IE11 automated into the builds.  Currently when I attempt to install it, I get a 40007 error requiring missing updates -- but this is where I'm confused.  The log files don't seem to be very descriptive as to what's missing, it just seems to stop.

Remove Trovi from IE

$

We recently installed a "free" app from what we thought was a reputable download site. Well, the "free" app was bundled with all sorts of crapware. Even though we selected the "Advanced" setup and unchecked all the boxes for installing OTHER software we still ended up with a few unwanted apps being installed . One fo these seems particularly difficult to remove. It's Trovi search home page. All three browsers show this home page (www.trovi.com) even though we have uninstalled the Trovi search bar, Search Protection applet, Optimizer pro app. It didn't change the browser search engine it changed the home page. Even though we rest the home page (and did all the other general stuff to remove tool bars, etc) every time we open a  browser we STILL get the Trovi.com home page! (IE 11, Firefox 32 and Chrome). If we hit the HOME button on any of these browsers we get the Google.com home page but ONLY if we hit the HOME button. New tabs display Google.com.

Where are the browsers getting this first home page of Trovi? I haven't found ANYTHING in the registry. Any help is appreciated. We've scanned the registry and drives for any reference to Trovi but cannot find it.

Automatic Switching between tabs in IE9

Does anyone know of a tool that will automatic cycle between open tabs in IE9 (or IE8) at some sort of interval (30 seconds for example)?

I found such a tool for Firefox, but I'm displaying things that will only display properly in IE.

I also found a tool that will simply rotate between open programs (alt tab), which could work by just having two separate IE's running, however I need to show the 2 pages in full screen mode, and for some reason the alt-tab tool is not working when one of my screens is in full screen mode.  I also find that I can only have one IE window in full screen mode at a time.  All the tabs on that particular window will be full screen mode, but if you load a separate instance of IE it won't run in full screen mode.

I'm displaying some reports on a large 55" display.  They display in IE, and I want to rotate between a couple automatically.  I suspect I could code the pages somehow, but that's more advanced than I can handle.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect....opening Word docs from link in web page

It's the ahla.org website.  It has both pdf files and Word docs.  The pdf links open in the browser or Adobe but the Word doc links open the option at the bottom of IE11 that just says "Open" or "Cancel".  When I choose open, it gives the error about policy restrictions or something similar depending on if it's Word 2007 or 2013.  If I could even find an option to have it "Save" and open after download that would be helpful.  I can right click the link and choose save as but this is an office full of attorneys and they can't find the download folder afterwards.

This isn't the issue with Chrome being installed/uninstalled because it does it on computers where it's never been installed.  It's not a group policy setting as it does it at the office or home PC.
