Are there IE 10 & OWA 2013 Compatability Issues?

$

0

Issue:
Multiple Windows 8 Pro machines using IE 10, otherwise functioning normally, are unable to successfully load full featured OWA 2013. After login, the Outlook Web App splash screen just sits there with the activity circle spinning indefinitely.

Troubleshooting:

  • Same machines, same logins plus several additional ones, same IE 10 browser accessing the same server will succeed ifUse Outlook Web Access Light is selected prior to logging in; not having full featured OWA is not an acceptable ongoing workaround to the business.
  • Again, everything the same as the first bullet point except for activating compatibility view in the browser, only OWA Light succeeds in loading.
  • Again, everything the same but having reset IE options including zones to default [so not in line with business & IT policies], only OWA Light succeeds in loading.
  • Once more, everything the same except for using Firefox 20.0.1 as the browser OWA Light and Full succeed in loading, but of course there are a few key features [e.g. offline mode] that are not available for Firefox so this also is not an acceptable workaround.
  • Checked AD and Exchange 2013 for abnormalities or changes of any sort - nothing.
  • Did full disk cleaning on two of the machines to purge cache, temp files, etc. just to see if that would have any effect, but no change in behavior re: OWA.
  • The same two machines have been restarted several times in the troubleshooting process.

Comments:
What's odd is that users claim that initially [this past Wednesday] they were able to access full featured OWA, but after two days [yesterday] it stopped working. Any insight or additional troubleshooting approaches would be much appreciated!

Open local ActiveXObject keeps wanting to download

I've seen a couple of threads on this issue with opening ActiveX and setting the security options in the browser did not solve the issue.

specifically, this did not work:

1. Open internet explorer, click Tools – Internet Options .

2. Click the Security tab – Custom Level button.
Under ActiveX ensure the following are set to enabled
Run ActiveX and plug-ins – Enabled
Download Signed ActiveX Control – Enabled
Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting – Enabled
Set the following to “Prompt ”
Download unsigned ActiveX Control – Prompt
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not mark as safe – Prompt

3. Click OK and Apply and OK. Restart the browser.

Here are the specifics:

machine specs:

Windows 7 pro 32 bit

IE 10 - 10.0.9200.16618

I'm trying to run the following javascript file on my desktop.

The website is an internal address,

var ie = new ActiveXObject("InternetExplorer.Application");
ie.Navigate("127.0.0.1");
ie.AddressBar = false;
ie.MenuBar = false;
ie.ToolBar = false;
ie.Visible = true;

The js file keeps popping up in the view downloads and when I try to open it I get the

"The program's publisher couldn't be verified. Are you sure you want to run the program?"

with the option to open which then loops back to the original message.

I've set my internet options down so low the that IE screams about it being unsafe.

How do I get this js file to run?

It works fine for my co-workers on IE8 and IE9 using both 32 bit and 64 bit XP and Win7 OS's so it's probably not related to group policies as we all have the same settings there.

thanks,

Jim

Automatic logon with current username and password doesn't work sometimes for IE when LDAP is used-- Chrome has no problem -- Any Fixes?

$

I have already posted the question to Microsoft's IE support site at,

forum--> ie9-windows_7 --> automatic-logon-with-current-username-and-password

and I was asked to post the question in this tech form. Below is the question again,

Does anyone know why IE during Single Sign on session(IE8 and IE9) sends a authorization header and no request data during AJAX request even though session is valid?

What happens due to this our backend WCF service doesn't receive request parameters and the entire single sign on session fails, so user has to redo the entire login process.

Chrome and Firefox both doesn't have this problem.

Below is the detail of what I am doing,

1) We are using WCF Service.
2) We have enabled AD Login(Single sign on) with IE by adding our site to trusted site
and adding the Security -> Trusted site zone -> Custom leval -> Automatic logon with current username and password
3) We are sending AJAX request via ExtJS to get some backend data for our website.
4) Everything works most of the time
but for some reason sometimes the IE doesn't send request parameter (the content length is 0).
That causes our services to fail because it didn't got the parameters it needed(Actually we validate the para and throw service error).
We are not sure why it happens. I have searched internet and found there are similar complaints at,

pcreview.co.uk (Can't post the url here because this blog doesn't allow Urls)

But no answer exactly whats going on.
The problem happens for both IE8 and IE9.
We haven't tried IE10 and can't because our end users are not going to upgrade to IE10 or later.
The issue doesn't happen for Chrome.
Below are the fiddler logs(raw format) for request and response, (Not sure why authentication header is send while the session already exist).

IE 11 & Easy File Upload Tool - not working

$

0

Since upgrading to the Windows 8.1 preview, IE 11 (v.11.0.9431.0) refuses to allow the Easy File Upload Tool to actually allow uploads.  Nothing dragged into the EFUT upload area of the server page will be added to the upload queue.

I've attempted to reduce all internet security to minimum, have ascertained that the Active X control is installed and enabled, have disabled/removed the control and asked for it to be reinstalled (unsuccessfully).

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Cannot control IE 11 Protected Mode Elevation policy for office 365 pro plus applications

$

I am testing windows 8.1 preview.

I installed office 365 pro plus using the application virtualization technology (click-to-run).

Enhanced protected mode is enabled on IE 11 and consequently protected mode is enabled too.

As I already asked at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/archive/2011/07/14/url-protocols-application-protocols-and-asynchronous-pluggable-protocols-oh-my.aspx I cannot control the IE protected mode elevation policyfor the office applications.

For non-office applications I successfully enabled many policies related to IE 11 Low rights elevation using the admx file found at http://blogs.technet.com/b/juanand/archive/2010/10/29/internet-explorer-protected-mode-elevation-policy-and-administrative-templates.aspx=

For any of the office 365 applications creating any low rights elevation policy with the above admx file has no effect on launching those applications from IE 11, that is all office applications are started as medium integrity processes (The office applications are launched in protected view mode but nevertheless the main office applications processesare always started as medium integrity level processes).

Anyway the policy that one can enable for any application started from IE using the above admx file are:

  1. "Prevent the process from starting"
  2. "Silently starts as low integrity process"
  3. "Prompt to start as medium integrity process"
  4. "Silently starts as medium integrity process"

I just can’t enable a policy to "Prevent the process from starting" for any of the office applications, it simply doesn’t work.

And I have also deleted all the other (other than the ones created by the above admx file) office registry sub keys related to IE "Low rights" key included those ones under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\REGISTRY\MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Low Rights" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\REGISTRY\MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Low Rights".

How can I enable a Protected Mode Elevation policy on IE 11 for office 365 applications?

Thanks for reading and helping.

How to disable auto clear button in Text box in IE10

Hi Team,

I saw this question on Microsoft forum but I did not find any reply to this question, therefore, I am re-posting it.

When I run web interface application on IE10, i see there is a new feature which has 'X' at the end of text box and on clicking it it clears the text.

Are there any settings of IE10 that can be changed to disable it or some code snippet?

I find the 'X' sign at the end of text box very annoying and would like to turn it off and make it compatible with older versions of IE and other explorers.

Looking forward to your answer at the earliest.

Sakshi

Internet Explorer 9 did not finish installing error

$

I have already looked at the threads and they have the same answer that does not solve my problem since I have already done as it says. Let me explain the issue and the solutions that did NOT work.

Other computer was getting weird programming errors with IE9 > went to programs and features > installed updates > removed IE9 and anything Internet Explorer related > restart pc > went back into installed updates and absolutely nothing IE-related was there > fresh IE9 install for 64-bit windows 7 > IE did not finish installing error

Now can someone please help me fix the issue for my family's other computer (they use IE), thanks.

Solutions I have not tried yet but will when it is convenient: disable security

Certificate Error IE 10 running on Windows 7

$

I have seen a lot of reports of Certificate Errors but nothing that speaks to my specific situation. I an running Windows 7 ultimate on a home network. A few weeks ago I began getting a certificate error (Using IE 8) that blocked me from getting to any internet sites.  I upgraded to IE 9 but the problem persisted.  Most recently I upgraded to IE 10 and the problem still persists.  There are 4 PC's on this network but the problem exists on only one.  I have tried many of the fixes and work aroundsin this forum but nothing has worked so far.  By the way, the same problem is showing up on Google Chrome and Firefox, however with those browsers I am able to bypass the issue and go on to the website although I am probably overriding all of my security to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Internet Explorer 11 behaving strangely after PC refresh

$

Hello All

Yesterday due to some issue with my PC, I had to refresh Windows 8.1 installation which basically removed all my installed application (except for store one), which is ok, it is as expected.

However once everything was up and running i.e. applications installed & all windows updates installed, Internet explorer started behaving strangely:

  • Internet explorer icon from Start menu doesn't work on clicking.
  • Internet explorer icon appears blank in taskbar and no option for pin to taskbar either
  • Internet explorer doesn't opens using search/charm bar
  • If I use search and open any link from there, internet explorer works.
  • If I use Dell dock which has separate category for Internet explorer to launch, IE opens/works

I know it's in preview and not sure if someone else faced this issue but if any assistance please? I already tried to turn off Internet explorer 11 from windows feature and turn it back on with no luck. Don't want to play much with registries to break anything at present.

Thanks in advance !

I have seen lots of posts but no answers.

I have Windows 8 Pro RTM installed from MSDN. I am running IE10 and I go to my Linksys router and get the usual certificate error. In all previous versions of IE, you could just click continue and move forward. IE10 does not all this, please let me know where this setting is so I can use IE10, I hope I am not forced to use Chrome. Also there is no option to run as IE9 for some reason.

Hi,

Do you know if there is any information about the release of IE 11? Although IE10 was a big step forward for HTML5 support, IE10 is still lacking support for many features.

Many Thanks,
Ady

With IE10 and earlier, we could choose large icons on the command bar and menu bar etc.

It looked good.

Now with IE11 we can't.

Humph.

Internet Explorer display blank page

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

IE9 won't open a lot of pages.  It just opens a new tab that is a blank screen and a empty tab title.  The extension types all vary.  However, if I cut and paste the link in a new tab it will work.  I already tried to down grade the version to 8, but it says its unsupported by windows 7 64 bit, funny I started with 8...

Can't access inbox since security update

Hello,

While trying to access my hotmail account, I got a message to enter a security code sent to my phone. I entered the code (then a new code, as it sent me a new one). This got me into my microsoft account settings - i can see and presumably change my name, details, passwords etc.

The problem is that I can't find any link to my Inbox at all. Anything I do just ends up with me re-entering security details and back at my account settings page.  I'm assuming it's not blocked, since I can sign in, but I can't access anything useful.

This is the first time I was asked to enter a code so I'm hoping it's something obvious I'm missing.

Help please?

According to the IE 9 help files, I should be able to move and resize the various IE 9 toolbars by clicking and draging on the "command bar separator" but this does not seem to work.
