IE10 , W2008R2, Roaming Profiles -> still an issue

Hi,

It seems that Microsoft lost focus on a large group of people using W2008R2 still awaiting for a solution
to implement IE10/IE11 in their Enterprise environment.

In short:
- Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles or not working on W2008R2
- (hot)fixes have been provided, working for some systems but not for W2008R2

All you can read, including tests from people, also saying that it's not working, on this page.
"Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)" here in the forum

Question:
- Any idea if this still is under Investigations?
- when can customers expect to be able to migrate to IE10/IE11 and get a working combination W2008R2 with IE10

HREF Link to file server does not work

This is more of a question for IIS 6 but since I couldn't find a forum for IIS I thought I would post here.  I am migrating our Intranet site from an ancient Site Server machine to a rebuilt Windows 2003/IIS 6 machine.  The Intranet uses ASP and I have everything working and all pages display correctly in IE8 and IE9.  However, we have several pages that contain links to documents on a separate Windows 2008 file server.  These links work fine on the old server but on the new server nothing happens when I click the links.  The links are formatted as follows:

<a href="file:\\server2\openshare\dept\_Open_Read_Only\docs\schedule.xls" target="_blank">Schedule<o:p></o:p></a></p>

I have seen references about adding more slashes and have tested various forms like this:

<a href="file://///server2\openshare\dept\_Open_Read_Only\docs\schedule.xls" target="_blank">Schedule<o:p></o:p></a></p>

and

<a href="file:///\\server2\openshare\dept\_Open_Read_Only\docs\schedule.xls" target="_blank">Schedule<o:p></o:p></a></p>

but no change.  Nothing happens when I click the link.  Note that the links are in HTML files and not imbedded in any ASP or VB code.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Joe

Office 365 Portal White Blank Page

I'm trying to login to the Office 365 portal on two new 2012 R2 servers. When I try to login though I get a blank white page following a certificate warning. I've installed java and added the portal and login.microsoftonline.com to the trusted sites and nothing seems to make a difference. I don't want to have to install another browser to access Office 365. I've also disabled enhanced security in server manager.

Bing in IE Causing Windows 7 to Crash

$

This didn't happen on Windows XP on any version of IE 8 and below that I used, this is only happening with Windows 7. When I navigate to Bing in IE10 the computer crashes entirely, with no warning. When I take a look at the event viewer it just tells me Windows shut down unexpectedly... This issue does not happen in Firefox, only upon navigating to Bing. It loads the homepage, then miliseconds later it shuts down.

Additionally my drivers are up to date, I have tried switching out video cards and also ensuring those are up to date, java is up to date, and Windows updates have all been installed...

Thoughts, instructions? Please help. Bing is necessary for a web based app I use that gets its data from bing maps and is only compatible with Internet Explorer versions 6 - 10. I have a DXdiag report if that helps anyone. Let me know and I'll post it.

Having issues clicking on links.

When I click on a link for anything, school download an assignment comes to mind, IE crashes. It may just be my computer, but I switched over to Google Chrome temporarily and I can download things from there. Chrome has issues of it's own, however.

Returning to Explorer, as much as I want to, I can't click on anything because while attempting to download, I get the message, "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must close, we will contact you when a resolution is available." I've been waiting for three years, and different versions of Internet Explorer for an answer.

I hate Chrome, too many commercials and pop-ups which can not be turned off.

Enterprise mode, how do I specify server port in SiteList?

$

Hi,

I have a old CRM system that must be run in Enterprise mode (it will be upgraded soon). The sitelist works fine through group policy, however the CRM is running on port :5555 how do I specify in the sitelist so the Enterprise mode start also on this port?

I have added the site to xml file but site list manager removes port number from url. The sites.xml file looks like this:

<rules version="9">
  <emie>
  <domain exclude="false">crm<path exclude="false">/company</path></domain>
  </emie>
</rules>

Now if I visit the site http://crm (which only contain IIS splash page), enterprise mode is enabled. However if I visit the real site on port 5555: http://crm:5555/ Enterprise mode is NOT on.

How can I make sitelist to force IE11 in enterprise mode on a different/specified port (or all ports) for a domain?

IE10, Password reveal eye

$

 A few weeks ago, I posted a question about how to remove the password reveal eye from my IE10.

The answer worked. I have Win 7 Home Premium, and I used regedit to get rid of the "eye".

This time I have the same question, EXCEPT the user, not me, is using Win 7 Pro.

The user was using gpedit >Computer Configuration >Administrative Template >Windows Components >Credential User Interface >double-click on "Do not display the password reveal button" >
select the "Enabled" option

The user said that when he got to ..........Credential User Interface, there was no "Do not display the password reveal button", and therefore he could not finish

I am wondering if anyone can shed somelight to this matter.

Thank you.

If it solves your problem, I did it. If it does not, my twin brother did it.

Favorites not showing in IE11 address bar

In IE11, when you type something on the address bar, it will show you sites:

1) those are most recently visited

2) those match in the History, and

3) those match in the Favorites as well

Recently, in order to fix a problem, I need to delete the browsing history in IE11.  Note that when I did the delete, "Preserve Favorites website data" is *unchecked*.  After that, when I type something in the address bar of IE11, the History and Favorite search categories are gone.

I checked that my AutoComplete Settings are all correct.  Browsing history and Favorites are all checked.  Can I ask how to fix this problem so that the History and Favorite category will show up again in the address bar of IE11?  Thanks a lot!

By the way, cannot insert any images right now because account is not verified.  Will insert images to help diagnose the problem when I am able to do so.

Turning off Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode via registry? Help!

Hi all

In his infinite wisdom, my predecessor rolled out a few PCs with Windows 7 Home premium. There are a few scattered around at various sites of ours that connect back to Central office via VPN. Due to the functions they preform these PCs cant be domained and just use local accounts.

We have a new web based finance system, that does not run correctly in Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode - for the rest of the company I have turned it off via a GPO, but for these PCs (that dont even have local GP) I'm struggling to find the correct registry entry to disable Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode! Help!

The PCs are Windows & Home 32bit - I have searched and search and found nothing. Cheers guys

Cannot install IE 11 with error 0x9C48

When trying to install Internet Explorer 11 through windows update I always get the error 0x9C48. I've found that this has to do with corrupt IE 10 files after performing a scan with "sfc /scannow".

I know the relevant files from the CheckSUR.log and I've tried placing them in the right folders as per either KB2700601

and KB947821 before running the windows update readiness tool but the errors persist after performing a new "sfc" scan.

Here is my CeckSUR.log relevant contents:

Hi,

I had a request to add a new website to the GPO of the trusted sites.

This time it had a port specified : www.bankxxx.be:2443

Should I add the port in the GPO?

*.anybank.be:2443    2    (Trusted)

or just

*.anybank.be    2 (Trusted)

Thanks in advance,

Hello,

I have been having an issue for the past 3 weeks or so when using Internet Explorer 9 and it only happens on certian websites. I thought my typing ability was getting really bad or my keyboard was going out, but soon realized that it only happens when using IE 9 and on certian sites that about 1/3 of my letters are missing, no spaces sometimes between words etc.. It is very frustrating as I do not want to switch browsers, but wondering why this just started happening. Any ideas? Thanks!

I cannot play videos on ie 11 but they are ok on firefox - what am I doing wrong?

playbackRate not working in Internet Explorer (10?) is it a bug?

$

Hi, I have a little function to play audio:

<script type="text/javascript">
function play_sound(url, speed) {
  var audioElement = document.createElement('audio');
  audioElement.setAttribute('src', url);
  audioElement.playbackRate = speed;
  audioElement.play();
}
</script>

I call this function as follows: onClick="play_sound('audio/S0001.mp3',0.67);"

It works fine in all (most?) browsers except Internet Explorer. I currently have version 10.0.9200.17116, so I don't know if this is a bug/problem exclusive to IE10 or not.

Is this a bug and do I need to wait for the next update and advise my website visitors accordingly? Or is there a workaround that will work on IE in the meantime? Perhaps I (and my visitors) have to install an add-on or change a javascript or security setting somewhere?

Many thanks in davance

I have a situation where a company has a click once style website that requires certain security settings with respect to encryption.  On one workstation.  The settings keep getting reverted to ones that will not work for the site.  The workstation is set for auto updates.  Is there a microsoft update that resets browser encryption security settings?

IE 11 not sending cookies in requests

$

This seems pretty straightforward but I cannot understand why IE11 is refusing to send cookies to my web app.

I have set the privacy controls to accept all cookie. In the dev tools when I trace the network requests I can explicitly see the cookie in the 'Cookies' section of the dev tools, so I know IE is aware it should be sending a cookie, but on subsequent requests it fails to include the cookie info.

Here is a network trace of the issue. Can anyone help me understand why IE will not send the cookie that is being set by the server?

thanks
