Turning off Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode via registry? Help!

Hi all

In his infinite wisdom, my predecessor rolled out a few PCs with Windows 7 Home premium. There are a few scattered around at various sites of ours that connect back to Central office via VPN. Due to the functions they preform these PCs cant be domained and just use local accounts.

We have a new web based finance system, that does not run correctly in Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode - for the rest of the company I have turned it off via a GPO, but for these PCs (that dont even have local GP) I'm struggling to find the correct registry entry to disable Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode! Help!

The PCs are Windows & Home 32bit - I have searched and search and found nothing. Cheers guys

I can copy a page and paste it into word and it prints fien. I can print all word documents, Excel document, powerpoint documents, PDF documnets stored and opened from Adobe acrobat, but not PDFs while still online. I have reloaded the printer driver (HP 1020 laserjet) searched through any windows and IE updates all to no avail. I tried running IE as adminitrator and turning off "Enable protected mode". I tried to run Mr Fixit to recreate a missing folder and it said "does not apply to your problem" (or words to that effect). I am running MS Office 2010 and Windows 7 and IE9. Help!

IE11 installation fails with error code 4007 (USER_ERROR_MISSING_REQUIRED_PREREQUISITE)

Hello there

I'm having troubles with the installation of IE11 on Win7 over software deployment: Some clients fail with the error code 4007:USER_ERROR_MISSING_REQUIRED_PREREQUISITE

All prerequired updates for IE11 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2847882/en)are approved for installation:

  • 2729094
  • 2731771
  • 2533623
  • 2670838
  • 2786081
  • 2834140

However, KB2731771 will not install on the clients with the status: Not applicable. I think, this might cause the problem and I'm wondering, why this update will not install.

Thank you for your ideas and advise.

Cheers,

Simon

IE11 Install Error - Neutral package installation failed and A required certificate is not within its validity period

IE11 keeps failing to install against a domain joined Windows 7 SP1 x64 system with IE9. I have tried the offline and normal installers from Microsoft, for Win7 SP1 x64, and both fail shortly after starting. I followed the steps here to check all 6 PreReq updates:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2847882

I manually downloaded and tried to install all 6 required updates listed, all of them said they were either non applicable or already installed. When I run the IE11 installation it fails and points me to the IE Troubleshooter, I followed all those steps too and nothing else worked.

These seem to be the key lines from the IE11_main.log:

00:43.883: INFO:    Installing with the downloaded package. C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\IE18E79.tmp\IE11-neutral.Downloaded.cab

Windows 64 bit system will not allow an IE 32 bit browser. Why? How do I fix this?

$

Hi Everyone,

Bare with me on this...

I work for a tech team for an eLearning company. Our material requires Adobe Shockwave to view the videos. This becomes a problem when a person needs to download Shockwave but they have a 64 bit browser on their computer. Normally, the way around this is to have them download a 32 bit browser (the 32 bit is required to download Shockwave). It's not a difficult fix. Until yesterday...

The person that I was assisting, has Windows 7 which has 64 bit system. Her browser was IE 10. We tried downloading 32 bit browsers in IE (Version 9 and 11) and it would not allow it to happen. A message popped up and said "This version doesn't support your Windows type." We were able to download Firefox, but when we went to the download shockwave website, It only gave us the option to save the installer as a binary file.

Eventually, we were able to get it installed but our program is still not picking up on it's existence. We have never encountered a problem of people not being able to download the 32 bit browser. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Kali J

IE super slow in loading .css under a particular user profile

Mighty all,

I'm facing an extremely weird problem affecting a particular user profile. One computer, several user accounts.

IE running under USER A on the right - loads fecebook.com (or any site with css involved) instantly (<1ms per item, as shown below).

IE running under USER B on the left - takes ages (5 seconds+) to load each element.

Problem remains after upgrading from IE9 to IE11.

Windows 7x64 Ent.

I've tried so far:

  • deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
  • deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
  • deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
  • Running IE in no-addons mode
  • Running IE in x64 mode
  • Resetting IE settings
  • Deleting cookies

Does anyone know why could .css be that slow to load for a particular user profile?

When I click on a link that should open in a new tab (or right-click and select Open in new Tab), IE11 Opens a new tab but the screen is blank, the URL is about:blank and the tab title is 'Blank Page'.

Windows 8.1 x64
Internet Explorer 11 (Desktop)

The 'Metro' version of IE 11 still works fine, it's just the Desktop version which is broken.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the similar thread, but none have helped.

Who or what is hbmuhnrriqr.exe?

My browser was running slow so I opened task manager and found a number of hbmuhnrriqr.exe running. I find no reference to it online or in the processlibrary.com website. I tried ending them with task manager but they restart. I will try rebooting next. I don't go to shady web sites so I have no idea where it came from. I do hear an audio that sounds like an ad play sometimes and this (microsoft.com) is the only page I have open.

IE11 running in the background in Windows 7

IE 11 is running in the background and uses alot of memory where you can't watch a video or play a game.  I have seen that this problem goes back to 2004 and no where is there a real solution to this problem.  It is not a virus or malware.  I have run virus and malware programs and they find nothing.  I have notice that when CTF loader comes up an IE 11 task starts running.  All I want to know is how to stop IE 11 from running in the background.  I have read many solutions to the problem and it is obvious that many do not have any idea of the problem nor how to solve it.  All I would like is a solution to the problem, if there is one.

IE 11 TABS NOT WORKING

Hello,

After hours of research and trying hundreds of "fixes", I am still having the issue of blank tabs.

So, MSN.com, I click on a link and its supposed to open a new tab for that link. When it opens the tab, the tab is blank. I literally have to right click on whatever link I wish to open, click on "Copy Shortcut", open a new tab and paste it in there.

I have tried reinstalling IE11, resetting all settings back to default, I have tried System Restore, I have tried opening IE with no add-ons, etc.  I have gone through hundreds of threads and tried hundreds of "solutions" but nothing has worked.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit SP1 with IE 11.  I have performed general system maintenance, ensured all updates were installed, etc.

I'm not the type of person to ask for help but I am really stumped on this issue. So, I need help.

Thanks,

Chris

I am using IE 11.0.13 and I don't have chat and notification sounds on Facebook site (I checked if the notification sound is enabled from Facebook settings-is ON). On Youtube and other sites works good-I have sound and video. The Shockwave Flash Object version is 15.0.0.189. On other browsers I have that notification sounds.
