Internet Explorer 11 constantly causes screen flickering with Windows 8.1

My screen is constantly flickering and sometimes tabs go blank (white) for no reason while using IE11 with Windows 8.1.  This does not happen with other browsers.  My resolution and refresh rate for my monitor are both set to recommended settings and my Windows and drivers are all up to date.

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

Internet Explorer is currently running with add-ons disabled

I found a fix for this problem .. I went to start then right-clickedIE icon to open properties. In the target fieldI deleted "extoff" at the end of the line and then in the Comment field I erased everything except  Start Internet Explorer. It still says (No Add-ons) in parentheses on the start menu .. but when I open the program I no longer have that warning message at the top of the screen and the game site I like is working fine now.

Netsh and Automatically Detect settings

Hi All,

I have 'Automatically detect settings' checked in IE and the browser is picking the wpad file as expected. Having said that, I have been unsuccessful trying to set this proxy setting on a system wide level using netsh.

I have executed the following command in netsh: "winhttp import proxy source=ie"

I would have expected netsh to pick up the proxy from the auto detect settings but unfortunately no proxy is set as a result of executing that netsh command. Strange enough, if I were to set the proxy settings manually in IE, the netsh import command would pick this change and set the proxy successfully.

Please note that I have attempted this on Windows XP and Windows 7 (using both 32 and 64 versions of netsh) and the 'winhttp import source=ie' only works on XP when automatically detect settings is set in IE.

Any reason why netsh isn't picking up my auto detect settings on Win7?

Thanks

Poor browser performance after (MS14-52) KB2976627 and (MS14-51) KB2977629 install.

Hello,

I work for a large enterprise and we have found that after installing (MS14-52) KB2976627 and (MS14-51) KB2977629, Internet Explorer performance has become unacceptably slow for our end users.

When testing sites such as news.yahoo.com, PCMag.com, Huffington Post, Bloomberg.com it is taking the browser 40+ seconds to load the site.  When you use Chrome or Firefox on the same machine all of the above sites load in less then 10 seconds. We were testing with IE8 and IE9,  we thought it might be related to the nature of the websites so we have upgraded a test machine to IE11.

Preformance with IE11 is better, but I would still say it is not where close to Chome/Firefox.

Upon removing these two security updates for IE we found the websites mentioned above to load around the sametime as Chrome/Firefox.

I know there was a known issue with the August IE Update that was suppose to be fixed in the September Patch.

Unfortunately this appears not to be the case.  Is Microsoft looking at this issue at all?  Is there some better place to report this issue?

I figured I would check here first to see if the IE team is seeing this issue with other users also.

If there are any suggestions it would be much appreciated.

We are seeing the issue also appear with running IE with extensions off so that somewhat rules out add-ons.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Installation of IE 11

I am running Windows 7 SP1. I downloaded IE 11 from the MS download site to a thumb drive and moved the file to the desktop of the target machine. I double clicked to install and got the following message: Internet Explorer 11 is required in order to run this installation.

I need IE 11 to install IE 11? Seems like circular logic. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Set compatibility list to default to IE9 instead of 7

I need to deploy some sites to run under compatibility mode as IE9 under IE11. The issue I am facing is that when setting is deployed through GPO, it defaults to IE7. Is there anyway that I can tell IE11 to run sites that are in the compatibility list to run as IE9 and not IE7?

I cant Add Settings from IE v11, it shows 0 settings

When I try adding settings from IE v11 to my GPO using SCM 3.0, it shows 0 settings available and the "Choose Settings"   has an X but if I choose another product such as IE v10 it shows 1616 or IE v8 has 1442 settings available, meaning I can add these settings.

Is there something wrong with IE v11 Baseline?

This Page Can't Be Displayed

I get this error on IE 11 Microsoft Windows 7 & 8.1 when I try to access my website via Apache Reverse Proxy version 2.4.1 and openssl version 0.9.8p; using client certificate generated and provided by my CA server, some certificates work while other doesn’t. The complete scenario is given below:-

I have a two websites severed by the servers that are behind the reverse proxy server. We access the websites through the IP address of the reverse proxy.  First website doesn’t require certificate for the user to log in, but to access the second website the user has to present his certificate to the web server; the client certificate is generated by CA server and provided to user. I generated two certificates for testing purpose, I accessed the website via reverse proxy, IE 11 asks me for the certificate that is to be presented to the web server for authentication, first certificate works well but when I try to access the website using second certificate IE displays an error “This Page can’t be displayed”.  The same behavior is shown on all tests conducted.

All certificates work fine on FireFox  and windows XP IE 8 but the same above mentioned erroneous  behavior is observed in Chrome as chrome uses the settings of windows

Pages with JavaScript open extremely slow IE 10/Win 8

$

Few weeks ago, started noticing some pages opening extremely slow. Top 2 examples are nbcnews.com and oregonlive.com, with the commonality between the 2, lots of scripting (javascript). The sites don't allow me to scroll right away, takes about 20 seconds before that's available. The content is slowly loading, takes about 2 minutes to fully load. I am noticing a loading wheel next to the mouse pointer that is going nuts, appearing to process a large amount of info.

I went through lots of different troubleshooting steps; below are some of the things I tried:

- Reset IE/clear cache/ temp files

- Ran disk optimization

- Ran Full antivirus scan, with computer coming up clean

- Logging in under another user

- Compatibility mode

- Trying the sites on another windows 8/ IE 10 computer on the same network-works just fine

- Installing chrome, same problem

- disabling scripts on pages from internet options, the sites load quick, but half of the content is missing.

The only thing I've done that seemed to have fixed the issue temporary is uninstalling and re-installing a cumulative update that MS released last month. The sites were loading quickly right of the bat, after the update was re-installed. Later though, it ended up getting worse again. Also,  I compared the results from the metric at (https://www.webkit.org/perf/sunspider/sunspider.html) and on the troubled computer, results show Total of 575ms response time, while on another computer, it's 120ms response time.

Please advise if there is anything else I can (besides resetting the OS) to resolve the issue. Thanks!

ActiveX update doesn't take effect without restarting IE11 after installation of KB2977629.

After installation of KB2977629, ActiveX update by changing version in object tag doesn't take effect without restarting IE11.

This happens only in case the page includes ActiveX controll event handler.

I don't know why this is only published in Japanese but

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2864032/ja

says the same thing about IE10.

When I found this article at the beggining of this year, I was suffered by this but it was solved with workaround code there.

But this time, it is IE 11 under workaround code is applied.

Powershell getElementById() not working with IE11‏ security

Dear IE team,

The following code which I initially found not working and also confirmed by MVP Chen V, returns null with IE11 on Win 2012 server (post in Powershell forum):

"

Vote

May be not related but just give a try by enabling compatibility view in your Win 2012 browser

"Strange in either way its working for me. This is definite IE settings issue.

give a try with below code

$url ="http://www.facebook.com"
$username="emailid"
$password="password"
$ie =New-Object-com internetexplorer.application;
$ie.visible = $true;
$ie.navigate($url);while($ie.ReadyState-ne 4){Start-Sleep-Milliseconds1000;}
$ie.Document.getElementById("email").value = $username
$ie.Document.getElementByID("Pass").value=$password
$ie.Document.getElementById("loginbutton").Click();

Regards Chen V [MCTS SharePoint 2010]

"

We suspect it was due to default IE security setting, but I was not able to make it work after

1) enable compatibility setting for facebook.com

2) disable IE Protected mode

Please help with this problem!

Bob
