I recently updated IE on our department Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit workstations (SP1) from IE8 to IE10. Since then, we have seen this sort of crash occur whenever users try to access their bookmarks list or go to the Settings -> About Internet Explorer window:

I've seen a number of other posts about this, but no solutions short of reinstalling from scratch. (We'll back down to IE9 before doing that to all the workstations in our department.)
Any suggestions for how one can repair a system exhibiting such errors?
