I get this error on IE 11 Microsoft Windows 7 & 8.1 when I try to access my website via Apache Reverse Proxy version 2.4.1 and openssl version 0.9.8p; using client certificate generated and provided by my CA server, some certificates work while other doesn’t. The complete scenario is given below:-
I have a two websites severed by the servers that are behind the reverse proxy server. We access the websites through the IP address of the reverse proxy. First website doesn’t require certificate for the user to log in, but to access the second website the user has to present his certificate to the web server; the client certificate is generated by CA server and provided to user. I generated two certificates for testing purpose, I accessed the website via reverse proxy, IE 11 asks me for the certificate that is to be presented to the web server for authentication, first certificate works well but when I try to access the website using second certificate IE displays an error “This Page can’t be displayed”. The same behavior is shown on all tests conducted.
All certificates work fine on FireFox and windows XP IE 8 but the same above mentioned erroneous behavior is observed in Chrome as chrome uses the settings of windows
