IE 11 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 7 is unsupportable

Hi Everyone,

I have done some research and I hope I am wrong, for it seems that if you have Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Domain controllers and Windows 7 workstations and wish to upgrade to IE 11. You can't create or manage GPPs within GPMC unless you have Windows 2012 servers or Windows 8 workstations.

So suddenly I have an unsupportable configuration. We don't have any Windows 2012 servers, nor Windows 8 workstations, and we don't have any plans to install any for another couple of years.

Its unfathomable to me, that Microsoft created a situation where the tools they provide are incapable of supporting the applications that they want us to upgrade too.

From what I have read, most people are having to create GPPs that deploy registry keys to configure IE....OMG...should we just turn back time back windows 2000 days, where you had to either create custom adm files or files with reg keys that you loaded via logon scripts to configure the users IE environment.

They even provide an IE 11 .adm file for Windows 2003. So windows 2003(a 11 year old OS) is supported but Server 2008 R2 (4yr old OS) isn't...what a joke.

I just can't adequately put into words my total frustration. Release a hotfix or a patch already so we can manage our Windows 7 environment(with whatever IE version) with GPMC and GPPs from Windows 2008 R2 sp1 or Windows 7 systems.
