We have a few setting in IE10 and IE11 that we need to configure such as homepage (must be locked and greyed out to the user), a list of Trusted Sites (must have prepopulated sites, but user must be able to add additional sites) and a couple other security settings that are set for the user.
We want everything else to be configurable to the user. We tried setting up a GPP and somehow some extra settings got saved into the policy, so some settings we want to let the user configure keep being reset by the preference policy.
For instance Protected Mode settings are being set by this policy (if we enable it, it is enabled by all users and if we uncheck the box, it is off for all users, but we want the user to be able to turn it off or individually.
How can we reset the policy so only specified settings are enforced at everything else is equivalent to the "unconfigured" state of a GPO setting, so the user can set it what they want?
We want specified IE settings configured and undo all inadvertent settings that were mistakenly configured in the preference policy.
