Just upgraded on 1/17/14 from 8.0 to 8.1. Never a problem with 8.0 in four months. Hibernation crashes intermittently and the system does a complete restart.
The problem appears to be related to the number of tabs open in IE 11 when hibernation is requested. If one or two tabs are open in IE, hibernation does not crash. If 5 IE-11 tabs are open when hibernation is requested, hibernation crashes 50% of the time.
There are many reports on the web of hibernation failing on new upgrades from 8.0 to 8.1. Some have been there since November.
