Internet Explorer 10 fails to install on Windows 7 x64

I'm trying to install IE 10 on an up-to-date Windows 7 x64. I also have the latest AMD video drivers installed. The only anti-virus is Microsoft Security Essentials which is also up-to-date. I start the install of "IE10-Windows6.1-x64-en-us" and these are the status messages I get during the installation:

downloading required updates
installing required updates
installing
installing language package
restarting program

Internet Explorer restarts, but it's still IE 9. No error messages and I'm unabe to find any evidence of any IE 10 files. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

I m using IE 9 ...

My mail contain link for e.g. http:/demo/demo.test/#/Demo.Test.Silverlight.Client.MainNavigationPage?item_type=Task&item_field=Id&item_value=cea1105f1e744610a42f46e2c5de4888

But if i click on the link from mail then IE 9 shows url as   http:/demo/demo.test/?item_type=Task&item_field=Id&item_value=cea1105f1e744610a42f46e2c5de4888#/Demo.Test.Silverlight.Client.MainNavigationPage

Why it is appending #/Demo.Test.Silverlight.Client.MainNavigationPage at the last???

Is there any settings need to do in IE?

Meta fix to emulate IE9 not working for IE10

IE10 is breaking our site with its issues with ajax. We have tried to apply the follow fix but it does not solve the problems.

Fix applied:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE9" />

Anytime we call a table with ajax the user is presented with a login screen instead of the table. Unfortunately it is a proprietary site so I cannot post screen shots. All other browsers (FireFox, Chrome) naturally work fine. IE8-9 also work fine.

Using F12 to change the Browser Mode to IE9 solves the problems but we cannot expect our users to change their browser modes each time they visit the site.

HTML ALT Feature No Longer Works

"Mouse over" an image containing an ALT tag used to display the text in the ALT tag. It no longer does. Why not? How do we get that bug fixed? Otherwise, there is no point in having the ALT tag.

IE 10 times out after about 10 seconds and displays a "This page cannot be displayed" message

Every since I installed Windows 8 and IE 10 in December of 2012, I have noticed that IE seems to time out fairly quickly and returns a  "This page cannot be displayed" message.  This appears to happen after about 10 seconds if a website does not render in that amount of time.

We have a website with a considerable amount of content and during busy periods it is not uncommon for a page to require a little more time to render. When I go to pages in FireFox or Chrome, the loading indicator keeps spinning indicating that the page is still downloading and often times the download completes as desired.

However, in IE 10 when the "This page cannot be displayed" message appears so soon, it gives customers the impression that our website is down or not functional.

I would prefer that IE 10 show a progress indicator for more than 10 seconds before deciding that the page is not available and if the download time is longer then let the customer decide when they want to abort the download.  I think that as long as the progress indicator is running, most people are willing to wait a little longer than 10 seconds for a page to render.

Having IE 10 make the decision that 10 seconds is too long is very frustrating because it leads to customers getting the impression that our website is not working when in fact it is.

We are not able to control customers choice of browsers and IE is still the leading browser people use when visiting our website.  However, IE 9 under Windows 7 is still the primary browser accessing our website and IE 9 does not appear to have this"cut off" feature set to 10 seconds.

Speed Dial for IE 10?

$

I haven't used IE in years simply because it doesn't have Speed Dial. I will be upgrading to W8 which has IE 10 native and I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a real Speed Dial feature. This type of feature is one of the most popular extensions in Firefox and Chrome so obviously there is a huge market for it. Please don't respond with IE Favorites; it's not even close to being the same thing. A truck and a Porsche are not the same because they have an engine and four wheels.

IE 10 will not install IE 9 still there and doesn't open certain pages

I have Windows 7 64bit with IE 9 pre-installed from Dell.

#1) IE 10 won't install.

#2) Certain pages in IE 9 do not display at all, but view fine in Opera, Firefox and Chrome. Unfortunately I need to use IE to access the pages that don't display because the insurance carrier quoting system ONLY works for IE - yes, it's true - that's how they built there system! The reason I can see the page in the other browsers is because I have muddled my way through the garbled front end of the websites to get to the back-end which views it properly.. But I don't want to do this 15 times a day.

I have tried to install IE 10 but it will not install. I have gone into windows features and turned off IE 9, and tried to install IE 10. I have deleted IE 9 and tried to install IE 10. I have reset explorer and all it's setting to default and tried to install IE 10. I have updated everything that Microsoft has pushed my way and checked for new updates.

I have tried all the Microsoft fix-it tools.

The pages not displaying has been going on for 2 years and I have worked at this for hours and hours. Obviously IE 10 not installing has only been an issue for a few months (I was hoping IE 10 would update everything and start fresh)

What else might I be able to say for any advice?... I have disabled my anti-virus and firewall as well.

Any ideas!?

Thanks in advance.

IE10 There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

I have seen lots of posts but no answers.

I have Windows 8 Pro RTM installed from MSDN. I am running IE10 and I go to my Linksys router and get the usual certificate error. In all previous versions of IE, you could just click continue and move forward. IE10 does not all this, please let me know where this setting is so I can use IE10, I hope I am not forced to use Chrome. Also there is no option to run as IE9 for some reason.

My IE has stopped saving history and my popular sites

My internet explorer has stopped saving my history and popular sites that you can use when you open a new tab.  My history shows my computer history for some reason, but not sites used. And my popular sites went from being pull of sites, to only having 2 and a suggested sites button. I have no clue how to fix this, but I could REALLY use some help. These are things we use all the time.

Links will not open

This is about my laptop. It was fine last night when I shut down and now today I started it and no links will open. I have windows 7, IE10.  If I click on IE, it will open to my home page, I can click on like one of the stories, and it opens but then will do no more, will not go back or open any other link. I try favorites and nothing will work. If I click on like files I have on desktop or whatever, they open fine, but like facebook, favs, google, anything like that will not open. I have att yahoo as my homepage, it is my server. If I click on the mail link to go to email, I just get a white page. I tried typing www.google.com in my address bar and entered and it will do nothing. Anyone know what may be wrong? I have ran malwarebytes full scan and also Microsoft Security Essentials full scan and nothing turns up. They both say no problems found. I have deleted all browsing, temp files, history etc . I have done the properties in My Computer, C:\ , properties, tools, error check. After that ran, still does not work.

IE displays junk when clicking on WebEx .WRF videos

If we upload a .WRF WebEx video then view it in Internet Explorer, it doesn't download and open the appropriate WebEx video player, it only displays a bunch of junk of the screen.  Chrome works ok, it will download then you click it to open, but IE just automatically fills the screen with junk.  I have confirmed that IIS has a global mime type for .WRF files of application/octet-stream.  I also confirmed that on the local PC that .WRF files are associated with the WebEx player.  I don't know what else to look at.  Any ideas?

Internet Options greyed out

I have two options in IE9 Internet Options which are greyed out and I cannot find the GPO or registry settings to activate them so I can modify them using the GUI:

[ ] Delete browser history on exit
[ ] History (in Delete Browsing History)

I CAN find the GPO/registry settings to modify these settings (including enabling the Delete button which brings up Delete Browing History).  There are MANY MANY examples on the internet of how to disable deleting browser history but that is not my issue.  These are greyed out.  I have the following disabled in User Config\Policies\Windows Components\Internet Explorer:

Configure Delete Browsing History on Exit
Disable "Configuration History"
Prevent Deleting Web sites that the User has Visited
Turn off "Delete Browsing History" functionality

My environment is:
DCs= Win2008
Domain functional level: Windows Server2003
Machine : Win7

I downloaded the Group Policy settings cross reference from Microsoft.  It has an IE policy "Disable changing history settings" but I do not see that in GPO editor.

I've tried running IE without add-ins but still greyed out.

IE 9 cannot display the webpage, but Firefox can

NOTE: Please see attached images, as post had to be trimmed due to images:

We are deploying a large amount of Windows 7-64bit machines through out or company.  Every new installation we have rolled out has IE9 installed.  IE9 fails constantly with"

"Internet Explorer  cannot display webpage"

We have also rolled out some old XP SP3 machines from inventory, with IE7 and IE8 installed and IE on them works fine.  Nothing on the network has changed.

Every version of Firefox and Google Chrome work fine with NO customization and continue to work.  We have had to push out Firefox as a replacement for IE9, but I'm trying to understand why IE9 continues to have this problem fresh out of the box.

Here is what IE9 displays when accessing our Intranet site:

Here is the same site in Firefox:

I'm not even going to bother displaying Chrome, but you get my point.

The only way I can IE9 to display the page is by doing a "Reset Internet Explorer's setting".

We have tried all the suggested articles, and info found in searching Google, and Microsoft, but I need a real solution.  No proxy is being used.

My users are getting really annoyed, and like I stated, for now we are using Firefox as a workaround. However, this is not a permanent solution.  We are a Microsoft shop.....What do I need to do to get IE9 to work properly?

Thanks for your help!

IE10 and the Default user profile

$

In Windows 7,when the default user profile ( HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Currentversion\Profilelist\Default) is set to thecurrent logged in user IE10 can't find the cache, history and cookies folders.

In Internet Options - Settings the current location is empty, and the cache settings are zero. When trying to change the cache size it gives a message that the value should be between 8 and 8, but it accepts nothing.

In case you wonder why: we use this to keep an image up to date, and it always worked until IE10 was installed.

IE10 wont allow me to open FTP files in Explorer View

$

I have an FTP internally that is used to host PDF & HTML files. Previously all users could log onto this FTP site and double click on any file content to have it open within the default browser. We use FTP in explorer view so each user can set their terminals to save their passwords, hence they log straight into their root folder on the FTP - if we use the FTP list view in the browser this doesnt happen, meaning user 9999 has a long way to scroll to find their documents!
This has always worked absolutely fine until IE10 has been installed, now any user with IE10 cant open files straight from the FTP via the Explorer view. The file doesnt download, the destination file ends up at 0KB so just doesnt open in the browser. Roll back to IE9 fixes the problem. Using Chrome as the default browser fixes the problem. Using the FTP list view also works fine (however we cant use this since it wont default to users root folder that they have access to)
Ive attempted everything i can think of without luck, its looking like we're going to have to block IE10 or switch to Chrome. Basically opening files from any FTP site (have tested others) in explorer view with IE10 installed just isnt working. You can however copy the document to the local machine then open ok..
Any ideas, what am i missing here!?
Cheers!!!

Why if I choose "open in new Tab" it opens the link in new window instead?

In Internet Explorer 10, despite I've activated the Tab navigation, when I right click on a link and choose "open in New Tab" it opens it in a new window. The same is happening if I middle click on a link.

If I right click and choose  "open in New Window", it opens it correctly in a new window.

Can you help me?

Internet Explorer 10 and Google Search issue

$

Hi,

When I enter a search in the Google toolbar and I get a list the results list, I follow one link and then return back to my search results. If I now hit another link, I'm taken to the first link I looked at. I have to refresh as the Google search results list in other to follow another link. And if I return back to the search list again, I have to follow the same process.

This didn't happen in IE9 and I haven't changed any options since upgrading to IE10.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
