how to disable ie10 spellcheck via gpo

$

hello,

i'm currently preparing an upgrade from ie9 to ie10. while it is generally quite annoying due to microsoft finally abandoning the old ie maintenance and switching over to gp preferences which are wonderfully buggy, the most annoying part is that it seems impossible to disable the spell check 'feature' through gpo.

even better, even if the system and ie language preference are set to another language, the spell check seems to default to english (USA).

and after an hour or two of digging through the group policies and googling around (seems like no one else has problems with that behaviour) i'm definitely ready to ask for help.

so, anyone here who already solved that problem (or at least has been able to set a default language)?

cheers

File Transfer Manager Not Working on IE 11 - Win7

Hi Everybody,

after the IE11 has been installed on my system by windows update, the Microsoft File Transfer Manager (FTM) doesn't work anymore.

I think is because my system is 64bit and the IE11 runs always in 64bit mode even when it is started from "program files (x86)" folder.

I tried uninstall, reinstall and nothing.

I installed FTM by MSI file but without success.

I removed completely FTM from the system and acessed the Technet download site and the MSDN download site (to reinstall the activeX) but nothing happened.

Currently, I only can download files by direct download.

Any sugestions?

Password Prompt

$

Consider a domain environment. I have an internal intranet site built on Sharepoint, which automatically displays information about the user currently logged on. There is no credential prompt for the user when he opens this URL in IE. This URL is added to the Trusted Sites for all users, mostly done in time by manual configuration by each user. The configuration for the Security Settings under "User Authentication\Logon" is set to "Automatic logon with current user name and password".

Recently we've modified this scenario as follows: using group policy preferences we've specified the intranet URL as an intranet site. Therefore we now have the same URL defined both in Intranet sites as well as Trusted sites. In order to increase the security against Trusted sites, we've changed the "User Authentication\Logon" setting to "Automatic logon only in Intranet zone". The problem now is that clients are being prompted for credentials when opening the intranet page. Taking the intranet URL off the Trusted sites list makes the automatic authentication work without any issues for a specific user. Therefore it seems there's a problem when the same URL is mentioned for both Intranet and Trusted sites, and when the logon settings are different for these 2 types of zones.

Is there a way we could fix this, without having to revert the Trusted sites setting to "Automatically logon with user name and password" ? Perhaps a way to only remove this URL from the list of each user's Trusted Sites, without affecting the rest there ?

Make changes to the Internet Explorer 11 settings and want this settings to apply to all client machines

Hi,

I need to add out local domain to the Sites section in the Internet Explorer.

Sites section is located at: (run Internet Explorer) -> Internet Options -> Security (tab) -> Local Intranet (icon) -> Sites -> advanced... At this setting I need to add our  intranet, because the client machines run applications which are installed at the terminal server, and each time one of this applications has to run, the users receive annoying windows warning message.

How can I perform this change only to one place, so it is reflected to all the users? We have one main server, one terminal server (for applications) and the rest are the clients. I don't want to make the change to every client machine, as there are many of them.

Maybe there is some group policy solution, or can I do the change to the internet explorer that is installed at the server (main server, or terminal server) and might apply to all the other machines?

Thanks in advance,

Best

IE 10 + Print to Excel not working appropriately

The web application we have currently works in IE 8 (java 6 update 22) where I would click 'print to excel' button in the web app window and a prompt to 'open, save or cancel' showed up fine.

I have been testing IE 10 (Java 7 update 25) and when I click 'print to excel' another IE 10 windows pops up with the information that is contained in the excel document. How can I have it show the 'open, save or cancel' option'? I don't want the IE 10 browser to display the info. I noticed that the "Automatic prompting for File download' is no longer in IE 10, not sure if that has anything to do with it (i.e. if there is a workaround to add it back in to test), thanks.

Also, I went to the site  https://connect.microsoft.com/IE/feedback/details/687356/missing-automatic-prompting-for-file-downloads-in-zone-security-settings-in-ie9 to walk through the workaround, but I don't see key 2202.

Issue with host resolution using a pac file on Internet Explorer 11

Hi guys,

I'm facing a weird issue on IE11 that is causing some complains from the end users. I've a pac file configured on IE11 and when I open the IE11 on the first time it takes around 45 seconds to load the webpage content. So I'm able to open a new tabs and type new addresses but the content is only loaded after 45 seconds.

I was analysing the issue and I figured out that is related with a non-sense/stupid dns lookup when you have a pac file configured on IE11, using the rule isInNet(host, “pattern”, "mask").

The first time you open IE11 the host is resolved as dummy, instead of the homepage or the web address typed, so you'll find a lot of queries by dummy, when it doesn't exist at all. If you have several dns servers configured and with a slow connection then you get around 45 seconds or more until you get the webpage content.

This issue isn't appearing on IE8 or Google Chrome, so it should be some bug on IE11, I suppose.

Please keep in mind that I've tested in using my corporate image and using a vanilla image (zero-customizations) and the behaviour/output was the same.

Has someone faced the same issue already?

Thanks in advance,

No HTML5 video in IE11 on Server 2012 R2

I cannot seem to get HTML5 video working in IE11 on Server 2012 R2, in RDSH mode (Remote Desktop Session Host).

I have the Desktop Experience feature installed, and have tried adding the sites (e.g. youtube, vimeo) to trusted sites and cranked the security down to the lowest (medium-low) for trusted sites but nothing. I don't really want to have to use trusted sites anyway...

On YouTube I am getting the HTML5 right-click menu over the video area, but no video plays - just a buffering symbol spinning and then a black area where the video should be.

I tried changing the user agent to IE10 via the F12 tools, but no change.

I ran the suite of tests from peacekeeper.futuremark.com and most of the stuff worked, e.g. all the animations, but none of the video, especially videoCodecH264 showed as N/A.

www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html is giving "unknown error" in the video playback window.

I can make YouTube work by adding it to compatibility view, where it then drops back to using Flash player. This does not work for Vimeo.

I have minimal policy settings set on these servers at the moment.

Any suggestions would be most welcome, thanks in advance.

IE 10 issue with websites after installation

$

After IE 10 was installed, I have found that certain fields on websites do not allow entry or sometimes not display a page completely.  For example, on Amazon, when I go to manage my kindle, it will not let show me all the content on the page.  And if I am trying to enter information on a web form on a site, it will not let me type into the field.  I can go to Chrome or another browser and it works perfectly.  This is using IE10 through MSN ISP dial up broadbandconnection where the icon is a butterfly.  If I go to the e icon or chrome directly it works.  Any help appreciated.  I have scanned for all types of malware, virus, etc and also used norton eraser to see if there was something going on that Norton 360 did not catch.

Hi,

I am using a AJAX control on my page for uploading data to server. This control allows user to drag and drop files in Chrome and mozilla. I read in the documentation that drag and drop is enabled in all HTML 5 compatible browsers. But still this does not work in IE10. The website opens there in IE10 compatibility mode. If is switch to IE10 default mode the drag and drop control of upload shows up but the functionality does not work as expected.

How do i configure IE10 to make the Ajax Upload control work?

IE 11 blocks access to "Microsoft Update" service

$

Using Windows Update on Windows 7 SP1, there is an option to enable "Microsoft Update" at the bottom to also update Office and other Microsoft applications:

Get updates for other Microsoft products. Find out more.

,

This opens a webpage, which in IE 10 and earlier, allows me to enable Microsoft Update.

However, IE 11 does not show the page to enable Microsoft Update but shows a useless and unrelated help message:

Use your Start menu to check for updates

How am I supposed to enable the optional Microsoft Update service now?

IE11 64-bit

2 to 5 computers a day are locking up with IE going into a white screen for all URL's and drop downs grayed out. Have tried many things, too endless to list. Only fix we've found is to delete the user profile and recreate.

Metro IE will work but not desktop IE.

IE accessing machine personal store - URGENT

Hi,

I have a client certificate installed in machine personal store.

Multiple user account exist in my workstation. When they login to an user account profile and load IE browser to access URL of one website, it is challenged for client certificate. The client certiifcate is installed in the machine personal store and NOT user profile personal store.

How can IE browser access the machine personal store and use that client certificate installed there to do client authentication?

We do not want to install the clinet certiifcate in user perosnal store because there are many accounts, and we may need to then install the client certificate in every user profile which is tedious.

Please suggest as how can IE browser use client certiifcate stored in machine personal store for client authentication

Thanks...Pax
