IE 10 in Captured OSD WIM will not launch on certain platforms

All,

I've been fighting this issue for a couple of months now. I have an active case that I've opened with Microsoft recently that I am still working on them with.

For some background, I have a Windows 7 SP1 OS WIM that was built and captured via SCCM on a VMWare platform. It includes all patches up through February 2014. This also includes Internet Explorer 10 via the WSUS update. We are NOT installing IE 11.

The build and capture sequence finishes without error and I've imported the OS WIM into SCCM for deploying.

This is where issues start on some of our systems.

We support about 35 models. On certain models, Internet Explorer 10 will not launch. In addition, we get the dllhost.exe memory leak issue (where it keeps spawning a process). The ONLY common thread I can determine is that they have a discrete nVidia GPU.

The models are as follows:

HP EliteBook 8770w - Quadro K5000M
HP ZBook 17 - Quadro K4100M
HP Z600 - Quadro 5000
HP Z820 - Quadro 6000
Dell Precision R7610 - Quadro NVS310

Each one of these systems, as stated, complete the imaging process fine and everything else appear to be running without issue. I've even cut the driver package back to only including a network and storage driver and the issue STILL happens.

Has anyone else seen or experienced this issue and have a solution? I've had some success with uninstalling the KB2670838, rebooting, reinstalling KB2670838 and then reinstalling IE 10. After doing that, it appears to function properly.

Internet Explorer display blank page

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.

SSRS Report Viewer display issues after KB2888505 and now KB2898785

After patch KB2888505 both IE 9 and IE 10 started displaying cropped images with horizontal scroll bars when viewing SSRS Reports.  These reports functioned and fit the screen without scroll bars prior to this patch and returns to normal once the patch is uninstalled.  There is no compatibility mode icon in the address bar and I have tried all browser modes in the F12 Developer Tools Menu with no change.  Rolling back KB2888505 was a temp fix for my users until KB2898785 was installed reverting back to the same cropped reports with the scroll bar.  The only versions of IE in my environment are 9 and 10 and upgrading to 11 is not an option at this time.  Others have reported this same issue so maybe we can get more visibility on TechNet.

Modern UI IE 11 slow loading new window/tab

How can I change IE10's default browser mode to IE8?

My company is a little outdated and IE8 is the only compatible browser that I can use for my job.  I just had to get a new computer and it has windows 8.  I know if I open up IE10 and press F12 I can then change the browser mode from IE10 to IE8, but I have to do that for every window.  Is there a way to change it to where it defaults to IE8 mode?

Just to be clear what I am basically saying is I have to user internet explorer for my job, there is no alternative.  I am also saying that if the browser is not IE 8 or in IE 8 mode, it won't work at all.  I am trying to find a way where I don't have to manually change it to IE 8 mode everytime I open a new tab or window on Internet Explorer.

Please help!
Thank you

Kyle

P.S. I have seen this kind of question asked before and seen this answer:

Hi,

there is Quirks, Near Standards and Standards modes.... the Document and Browser modes are for testing purposes...visitors to your sites should not have to consider what browser or version they are using... code to standards and offer fallbacks for browser versions that don't support the features of your website.

for any web page validate you web pages with a valid document type and correct the errors to allow the web browser to parse and render the document in 'Standards' mode.... Different IE version are capable of (have been programmed for) different releases (versions) of (x)html. IE8 and higher are capable of displaying validated in Standards mode... IE8, IE9 and IE10 have different error corrections and symbol tables and various levels of implementation of the css2 and 3 specs. (see w3c.org)

I have absolutely no idea what any of that means, and it doesn't seem to be answering my question.  Just wanted to clarify that this answer would not help me, or that I don't understand it.

Internet Explorer 11: File Download Dialog not appear

Hi,

I've created a macro to automate downloading dynamic generated files from server with Internet Explorer 10 and previous version. But now, I was requested to enable the macro to work with Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. I tested the macro but when downloading the dynamic files, the file download dialog did not appear like pervious version, but just a bar at the bottom of the page. So the macro can not get the save button and automate to click the save button.

I've searched via google but all solutions were for Internet Explorer 9 or previous. I can't search any solution for IE 11. Is there anyone can help me to solve this problem?

Thanks

F12 tools cause Internet Explorer 11 to not open any sites; blank white page only

0

On Windows 8.1 with Internet Explorer 11, if I open the F12 tools and close IE without closing the F12 tools, the next time I open IE (for any site) it opens to a blank white page and nothing loads. The workaround is to open IE using the "iexplore.exe -extoff" command > turn on the F12 tools > and then close the F12 tools using the 'X' from the F12 tools pane > and then close IE. After this, IE opens all pages fine. Has anyone else seen this behavior with the F12 tools? Is there possibly a hotfix for this?

Internet Explorer Performance Troubleshooter Missing

I'm having a extremely annoying new issue with a site I go to regularly. I get an information message saying "Internet Explorer blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors." and only the option to "Show Content" which does nothing but reload the page and show the same information message.

Everything that I've found on the Internet says to run the Internet Explorer Performance Troubleshooter and when I go through the steps to find it in Control Panel, it's not present and neither is the Internet Explorer Safety Troubleshooter. I can't find any instructions to install the IE troubleshooters and everything seems to point to them being "built in" so this is really annoying.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Service Pack 1 and Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 and my workstation has all available Windows Updates installed.

Internet Explorer 11 PDF Add-on?

0
0

From Windows 8.1 64-bit, running IE11, we need to convert web pages open in browser to PDF. This is without a current Adobe Acrobat version installed, assuming user does not have standalone Acrobat software.

Cannot find IE Gallery link anywhere in IE11 menu! Google and Bing are both IE11 grief floods. Chrome has half a dozen pdf conversion tools with a single click. IE Gallery only has anoutdated 2009 msi extension for Acrobat, from Nitro. Nitro's Acrobat add-on is not compatible with IE11.

This topic elicited only lame responses in answers.microsoft, so it is brought here for a more development savvy response.

Kindly note that the missing PDF functionality may be related to much larger security (piracy?) concerns. Please share any PDF solutions for IE11 that you may find. Thank you, and TIA.

The awful Internet Explorer Image renderengine

0
0

The image rendering engine of IE 8,9, 10, 11 is always awful since years of in compare to ALL other browsers.

Example: If you have responsive Design you upload images at the highest resolution (1024x768) and the Browser scale this image as needed.

ALL browsers deliver scaled and sharp images except the IE 8,9, 10, 11 (IE 7 use-ms-interpolation-mode:bicubic) which no longer work.

Compare it with the frontpage of   www.microsoft.com - scale it to Smartphone Size and see the images: IE 8,9, 10, 11 always has NO anti-aliasing.

PLEASE FIX THIS - or people using IE must accept this...?!

Internet Explorer 11 https certificate error

0

Hi,

I have been getting certificate errors from most of https websites on my enterprise computers (wich are on a network domain). The problema resides mostly in computers with Windows Vista x86 Business and Windows 7 x64 Professional with SP1. I started having this erros after Internet Explorer upgraded to version 10. Today most computers with Windows 7 on my network have Internet Explorer 11.

If I try to access https://www.google.pt it gives me a certificate error, if I try to acesshttps://login.live.com it also gives me a certificate error in Internet Explorer 11 and 10. I can access those websites with Firefox or Chrome. But there are a few websites that also do not work on those browsers either. I have a bionic software that I need to install and the installation method is done throught the web, and because of the certificate error it does not let me install it.

What is most odd is the fact that when I am installing a new workstation, before I join the domain, I can access those websites and I dont get certificate errors. Also, if I try to access those websites on my DNS server I dont get certificate errors either.

I tested this on some workstations without Kaspersky Endpoint Security Agent installed, but I still get certificate errors.

I do not know what else I can do really.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks everyone.

IE11 Opens blank tabs, must use new window

I'm running Windows 7 Pro SP1 with IE11 on my desktop. About two months ago I d/l'd all updates through the usual windows update and let them install. Shortly afterward I noticed that IE11 was no longer working correctly. I would click on a link and a new tab would open but it was blank. I then tried it with open in new window and it would do nothing. Then I tried the usual disable add-ons and such with the same results. I then tried using the reset and it kept telling me that I had to close all open window and programs. despite nothing open or running. Then I booted in safe mode and was able to successfully reset IE. I tried once again to use IE and the same thing continues to happen. IE11 has basically been rendered useless. I even tried going back to prior versions like 10 and even 9 with the same results. Troubleshooting came up with nothing.

Can someone please help? I'm using Firefox as my default now and would like to go back to IE11.

Thanks

Michael

HAHA!

Now, I cannot Reply or Quote on my own posts. So, I can only see your solutions for this post here. I cannot Reply or Quote.

I am using latest IE 11 with latest updates just today.

I think that I have all settings correct. I am using for the Security tab, and Internet, the Default setting. I double checked, and when I press the Custom level... button, under Scripting, Active Scripting is Enabled. Also, other sites that require Javascript, are working normally. Like GMail for example, or another Windows site, that has the same:

javascript:void(0)

links. [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/music-photos-video-help#music-photos-video-help=windows-7&v1h=winrttab1&v2h=win8tab1&v3h=win7tab2&v4h=winvistatab1]

So, what do I do now?

Items on Favorites Bar Automatically Re-Populate After Deleting Them

0

So after I delete an item from my favorites bar in IE11 it almost instantly reappears.  I've confirmed the autocomplete setting for address bar and favorites is un-checked.

Internet Options>Content tab, 'Settings' button in Autocomplete section, UNchecked the options to use autocomplete for Address bar entries, including favorites.

I'm using IE11 with Windows 8.1, starting IE from the desktop (not from the start screen).

I've stopped and started IE, rebooted the PC.   I've even deleted the 'Favorites Bar' folder in my profile; it too automatically re-appears.  Next step I'm trying (barring a solution from the experts) is to uninstall and reinstall IE.  Should I also perhaps run malwarebytes (low-level virus checker/remover).  I would hope the security features included with Win 8.1 and IE11 would prevent this from being a malware issue.

AAAGGHH - this is frustrating.  HELP  !!!

Browsing files on desktop through IE 11

0

I upload a lot of images to my website, an X-Cart site, but when I go to choose the image Internet Explorer is set to view the files in the directory I'm browsing in "details" as default. I'd like the default to be "list" as this allows me to see a lot more of the images I need to upload without having to scroll. In Chrome, once you've changed the viewing option once this then stays as default for the remainder of the session, apparently this isn't so in IE. Is there away to make this the case, or better still change the default way in which the files are displayed.

Thanks in advance,

Matt.
