IE10 wont allow me to open FTP files in Explorer View

$

I have an FTP internally that is used to host PDF & HTML files. Previously all users could log onto this FTP site and double click on any file content to have it open within the default browser. We use FTP in explorer view so each user can set their terminals to save their passwords, hence they log straight into their root folder on the FTP - if we use the FTP list view in the browser this doesnt happen, meaning user 9999 has a long way to scroll to find their documents!
This has always worked absolutely fine until IE10 has been installed, now any user with IE10 cant open files straight from the FTP via the Explorer view. The file doesnt download, the destination file ends up at 0KB so just doesnt open in the browser. Roll back to IE9 fixes the problem. Using Chrome as the default browser fixes the problem. Using the FTP list view also works fine (however we cant use this since it wont default to users root folder that they have access to)
Ive attempted everything i can think of without luck, its looking like we're going to have to block IE10 or switch to Chrome. Basically opening files from any FTP site (have tested others) in explorer view with IE10 installed just isnt working. You can however copy the document to the local machine then open ok..
Any ideas, what am i missing here!?
Cheers!!!

Strange problem accessing specific site

I've got an odd problem accessing a specific, banking website. I'm reasonably confident this isn't any of the usual reasons a website might be blocked. Here is the troubleshooting/info I have so far:

1) This problem only occurs on one of the tree domains in our forest. If you access the site from other trees in the forest, the site is viewable.

2) The domain which cannot access the site actually is NOT passing through a proxy.

3) I am able to access the site if I log in to the affected user's PCs with my account from a different domain. Thus, the problem isn't with the machines, it's with the users of the affected domains.

4) The site in question is not blocked by group policy; in fact, it is expressly added to trusted sites.

So despite being added to trusted sites and not going through a proxy, the site simply shows "page cannot be displayed" if anyone from the affected domain attempts to log in to this site. If anyone outside that domain tries to log in, the page loads fine. Any ideas, anyone?

Browser sending and receiving K's of bytes to load a simple page

Hi,

I have a, so far, unanswered problem when accessing a SAP Portal page from IE8 or 9. Using Win7 IE8 a user logs onto the SAP Portal page in question and from httpwatch I can see it sends 84Kbytes and receives 443Kbytes. Then using the same user from another PC, running the same Win7 IE8, it sends 8kbytes and receives 24Kbytes. I have cleared the cache on both machines which makes no difference.... the data sent and rec'd remains different.

So, the question is, what is causing the inflated bytes sent and rec'd on the one PC ? How can I change it so that it uses the reduced bytes ? It cannot be the application because it works ok (smaller bytes values) on one PC.

The problem is causing a bottleneck on the network during peak times.

thanks

Jamie

Switching between multiple Java versions

We would like to be able to switch between Java version for web applications in Internet Explorer 10. Is there a way to do that?

Currently, we are specifically interested in 1.6.0_23 and 1.7.0_45

Other threads on this subject have been sparse and not helpful. 8-)

Thanks.

Facebook videos play, but foreground is blank white.

In internet explorer 11, running the latest version of flash, Facebook videos will load and play, but the video is replaced with a blank white box. I can hear sound, and when the bottom bar is visible the bottom portion of the video is visible in the background. The flash player settings do come up on the object when right clicking and selecting 'Settings.' While the settings dialogue is up, the video is again visible in the background, faded.

I confirmed that videos play correctly in Google Chrome, but the computer's main user dislikes using other browsers. As far as I could conclude, videos on other sites play correctly.

I searched for solutions to this issue, but I have yet to find it described anywhere near the same, nor has any general solution or quick-fix worked yet.

Things I have tried:
Resetting IE settings
Resetting IE advanced settings
Resetting IE advanced settings and personal data
Disabling Hardware Acceleration
Uninstalling & Reinstalling video drivers
Uninstalling & Reinstalling IE11
Uninstalling & Reinstalling Java
Uninstalling & Reinstalling Flash
Installing Shockwave player seperately
Uninstalling IE11, Java, and Flash, rebooting and cleaning up unused system files and registry errors, then reinstalling everything

None of these seem to have any effect.

Modern UI IE 11 slow loading new window/tab

I am constantly getting a window popping up whenever I open a new page which is warning me that my Privacy setting are not correct but I have tried all the settings in the security box it still makes no difference, it still pops up, it is really annoying. How can I stop it from popping up or is it a bug which has been set off from something else?

Open Multiple URLs From Text Into Tabs

Items on Favorites Bar Automatically Re-Populate After Deleting Them

So after I delete an item from my favorites bar in IE11 it almost instantly reappears.  I've confirmed the autocomplete setting for address bar and favorites is un-checked.

Internet Options>Content tab, 'Settings' button in Autocomplete section, UNchecked the options to use autocomplete for Address bar entries, including favorites.

I'm using IE11 with Windows 8.1, starting IE from the desktop (not from the start screen).

I've stopped and started IE, rebooted the PC.   I've even deleted the 'Favorites Bar' folder in my profile; it too automatically re-appears.  Next step I'm trying (barring a solution from the experts) is to uninstall and reinstall IE.  Should I also perhaps run malwarebytes (low-level virus checker/remover).  I would hope the security features included with Win 8.1 and IE11 would prevent this from being a malware issue.

IEAK IE9 msi - Can not find command line to make install process passive with a reboot prompt

$

hey all, this seems to be something simple and I can not get it to work the way intended.   I want IE9 installer to install passively and then prompt for reboot, that's it.

I have tried using the switches for the standard exe from Microsoft but nothing allows for passive and prompt for reboot

I have now also downloaded and used IEAK and then created msi installs and selected the passive and prompt for reboot options which does not make the installer do that actual behavior by default.

So I have now actually began trying various commands with the IEAK msi files, none of which are making the behavior I desire happen, passive with prompt for reboot.

Can anyone suggest a proper command line for this?

I have essentially tried these on the different installers I have built, and sometimes entered the /passive on full installers:
msiexec.exe filename /promptrestart
msiexec.exe filename REBOOTPROMPT=""

This shows up when I try to use a java based service. Never did this before

No HTML5 video in IE11 on Server 2012 R2

$

I cannot seem to get HTML5 video working in IE11 on Server 2012 R2, in RDSH mode (Remote Desktop Session Host).

I have the Desktop Experience feature installed, and have tried adding the sites (e.g. youtube, vimeo) to trusted sites and cranked the security down to the lowest (medium-low) for trusted sites but nothing. I don't really want to have to use trusted sites anyway...

On YouTube I am getting the HTML5 right-click menu over the video area, but no video plays - just a buffering symbol spinning and then a black area where the video should be.

I tried changing the user agent to IE10 via the F12 tools, but no change.

I ran the suite of tests from peacekeeper.futuremark.com and most of the stuff worked, e.g. all the animations, but none of the video, especially videoCodecH264 showed as N/A.

www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html is giving "unknown error" in the video playback window.

I can make YouTube work by adding it to compatibility view, where it then drops back to using Flash player. This does not work for Vimeo.

I have minimal policy settings set on these servers at the moment.

Any suggestions would be most welcome, thanks in advance.

I mistakenly installed google chrome (thinking i was getting google earth) and then uninstalled it. It corrupted IE8 so that i cannot use windows explorer to view our ftp site. (which means that i cannot use our site). Google chrome also corrupted windows outlook but i used a Microsoft fix to cure that.

When i am at our ftp site and i go to "page" and then go to "Open ftp site in windows explorer" i get the error message "This site cannot be opened in windows explorer" I'm using IE8.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Cookies not working in IE9 on 2008R2

Hi All,

We have a very strange issue where our desktops running Win7 x86 + SP1 and IE9 can successfully access an internal web application that uses cookies. The cookie is used to call up a customer and is retained in the session until you log out the app.

However if I run that same app on 2008R2 + SP1 with IE9 the cookie is expiring after approximately 20 seconds and all the customer information is lost.

- If I re-enter the customer information a 2nd time then the cookie seems to be retained.
- If I open the app in the browser and then open it a 2nd time in a new tab/window the application works fine and the cookie is retained
- I have tired with/without the same IE GPO's that are applied to the desktops to ensure all settings (including the cookie settings) are identical
- I have tried on both IE and IE x64 on the server
- I have a small random selection of other Windows 2008R2 servers where the app works fine without the need for multiple tabs/windows. In theory these servers are identical builds and patch levels and IE versions which makes no sense to me.

I have tried the TabProcGrowth registry key on 0 and 1 but it has not made any difference.

I am pretty stumped on this now...

This fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2600088 is already installed under our .NetFramework install of 4.5 and it contains all the updates that should fix this issue according to this link

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/16fa6eb9-255c-4d92-a183-06d8ed2fc8f6/dopostback-is-undefined-in-ie-10-browser-for-link-button?forum=iewebdevelopment

But, my user is still getting this error Unable to get property 'PageRequestManager' of undefined or null reference when doing some testing on a interface. We're are running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 on a terminal server. Can you provide any addl. suggestions on how to resolve this?

Report Viewer Webpart IE9 issue -Reports not visible

$

Hi,

we have several installations using Sharepoint 2010 together with Reporting Services 2008 and 2008R2.

When displaying reports in Sharepoint through the report viewer webpart, the rendering in IE9 will sometimes not display the report. This means the Sharepoint site including the report viewer headline is visible, but the report itself is not rendered. After pressing ctrl+F5 the report most of the time will show up. When viewing the logs of reporting services it is clear that the report has been executed, but as stated it was not visible in IE9.

Even when forcing IE9 to render all Websites in compatibility mode there is no change. Out of 10 times the report is roughly 3 times not visible.

On systems still using IE8 there are no problems at all.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Andre
