After downloading and installing an Windows " Important Update" and had closed update window a page opened sayig to update to IR 10...I have Windows  and it would not install, I got error message saying will not install on Qindows 7 without SP 1 or higher which I thought I had but did not actually have it yet...I went to Updte page and downloaded all Important updates which installed SP 1 some kind of redistributable update and IE 10 would not install again then after running every important update which included a SP 1 and Windows servers 2008 update and SP 2...and after all updates installed and computer rebooted still will not install??? I even later shut notebook off completely overnight and most of next day, it still will not install...I found no help in Microsoft Community forums not the vertual live support...I get not other error messages just the one that IE 10 will not install on anything but Windows 7 SP 1 or higher...I do not know how to fix this or if it is worth fixing????  I use Google Chrome as default browser but when internet server wants to connect remotely to ,y computer I have to use IE 8 so they are able...Would trying first to upgrade to IR 9 maybe help? Or deleting the file I downloaded that will not install and possibly downloading it again be a possible solution??? If there is anyone who can help I would greatly appreciate it...Alicurio4118

Paste & Go

Is there any possibility of having an option like "Paste & Go" in the address bar's context menu to easily copy and paste the stored URL from clipboard and navigate there? exactly like what's there in Firefox and Chrome.

If NOT, any plan to implement in future version or up coming updates?

Repeated IE9 security warnings after Adobe Flash Player update

$

Once again, Adobe Flash Player has been updated, and once again, I am having problems with incessantly repeating IE9 Security warnings re Adobe Flash Player.  I have read several threads regarding this, and am aware that this has been a "power struggle" of long standing between Internet Explorer and Adobe.  It is my understanding that Ieuser.exe may be the problem, in that it fails to update itself when Adobe Flash Player is updated.  This time, the Adobe update happened 3-4 days ago, but the repeated warnings only started today after I restarted my computer.  I thought that a second restart would solve the problem, but no joy; I still get that @#$%&* warning on almost every page (including every Adobe page and every Microsoft page) I attempt to open.

Why, oh why can't Microsoft and Adobe act like thinking, reasoning adults and FIX THIS FRAKKING PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL???  I really don't want the hassle of having to screw around unloading and reloading Adobe Flash Player multiple times every time it updates.  I understand that IE9's Protected Mode is intended to be helpful and prevent problems, in this case, it is the cause of a very frustrating issue that seems impossible to resolve without either reloading Adobe Flash Player each time it updates or just disabling Protected Mode.  Neither of these is a particularly attractive option, but I am losing patience.  Any NEW ideas for how to resolve this outside reloading AFP or disabling Protected Mode?  Perhaps Microsoft could create a Hotfix that one could use each time AFP is updated...

Thank you in advance for any help anyone can offer!

Accessing HTTP Response Header Variable

$

I am using Javascript to access the value of the HTTP Response Variable, Server, and am displaying the value on the web page, as a test. Once this is successful, I will be executing other logic based on the value returned in the variable. Essentially I want to handle some operations differently depending on whether the server is IIS or Apache.

In my test Javascript, I am alerting all response headers (getAllResponseHeaders()) and the Server response header (getResponseHeader("Server")), then I am passing the value of getResponseHeader("Server") onto a field on the web page.

I have tested this with 4 browsers, so far. It works fine in Chrome, in Safari on Windows and also in Safari on an iPad tablet. In IE 11, the first time I execute the Javascript, it works correctly, getResponseHeader("Server") returns Apache or Microsoft-IIS/8.0 depending on the backend server. In subsequent executions on IE 11, though, getResponseHeader("Server") returns a null value. If I delete browsing history, it will work again once, but after that I receive null for the value.

Is this a bug in IE 11? Or is there some setting that will change the behaviour to what I am expecting, and what the other browsers deliver, - the Server response value each time? Or is there a better, more reliable way to retrieve this value in IE?

IE 10 not using proxy settings

Odd one this. Our proxy server address is distributed to client workstations through GPP. Just lately, and I can't think of a reason why, users have been complaining that they are presented with the authentication page for our proxy server, which is usually presented when no proxy details have been set within IE. So, I check the proxy details, and they are present! If I untick the checkbox for 'use automatic configuration script', recheck it, OK, close the window, and refresh the page, all is good again. It's like IE is forgetting that the details are there - any ideas?

GPP Internet Settings for IE 11 disable Zone settings

$

Hello!

We have to Rollout IE 11 to our whole client Environment ( Win7 Enterprise). But before we can do this we have to test it in our IT department. We want to make the settings with GPP. In the first step we only want to set the Proxy settings and the default Homepage.

At this Point our troubles are starting. When we create a IE 10 Setting (which also applys to IE11) i can set what i want. everything is working on the Client. But i don´t want to set the settings from the security tab and i can´t disable this with F7 because there is no red dotted nor a green line.

The reason why we don´t want do set this settings is very simple. We want that our colleagues can set every setting and give us then a feedback which settings they need to set for there web apps.

Any Ideas?

Kind Regards

Setting IE Security Settings in a GPO and Other Problems

$

Hi there,

I have searched around extensively and have not found any forum/thread/help page that can help me solve my problem. I work on a network that is a mixture of Windows Server 2003/2008R2 and Windows XP/7. Recently during a WSUS test, all the updates that were pending got pushed out (even the ones we didn't approve), and those included updates to IE.

Before this incident everyone who used IE daily was fine. Now I am getting calls and emails that people cannot access a ton of websites that they could before. I have added these websites to Trusted Sites via a GPO: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Template -> Windows Components -> Internet Explorer -> Internet Control Panel -> Security Page -> Site to Zone Assignment List; and it worked.... for a time.

That solution has worked for some, and not others, and some of the ones it worked for only lasted until they shut the computer down and started it again. I determined that if I change the Security Levels in Trusted Sites and Internet to Low, the issues don't persist. However, when I do that the settings don't last long. Sometimes they reset after the browser is closed, other times they'll stick but be lost when the computer is shut down.

I tried every other form piece of advise from many sites trying to determine what would stick. I've Cleared the SSL State for Secured Sites, Checked the Date and Time Settings, Ran the Site in Compatibility Mode, etc... nothing makes a difference.

What I have been trying to find but couldn't, was information on how to set the Security Levels for IE in a GPO that can be pushed to each Computer to save me from manually making changes on everyone's machine. If anyone can advise me on how to move forward with this I would be greatly appreciated.

Also, when IE opens up certain pages (https) people get prompted with the Security Alert about viewing the page over a secure connection/you are leaving a secure page. I have unchecked the Setting in Internet Options -> Advanced -> Warn if Changing Between Secure and Non Secure Mode, but again, it just re-enables itself after some random amount of time.

I hope to hear back from someone very soon!

Thank you

Manage IE 10 preferences with a 2012R2 Server in a 2008R2 Domain

Hi all,

We would like to upgrade from IE 9 to IE 10. I've learned that you can't manage the GPO from IE 10 with a 2008R2 Sever but you tweak the XML files. That's no option for us therefor we've installed a 2012R2 Sever in our 2008R2 Domain.

We've copied the inetres.adm file from 2012R2 to the 2008R2 DC

Now we have the posibility to create IE10 preferences on 2012R2 but we can't see and manage them on our 2008R2 DC.

My Question is:  Does the preferences still apply on our clients or do we need to uprade the DC to 2012R2?

With best regards David

How to correct Internet Explorer 11 when the manufacturer did not make you an administrator

I have a new Lenovo laptop and Internet Explorer 11 does not work. Lenovo said the software is corrupted. They will not correct without payment. I cannot fix anything as I have learned that I am not the administrator so I have no idea who is the administrator of my computer.

My computer is useless. It took over an hour just trying to get to this page to ask the question, How can I fix this software? The computer is less than 2 months old and has never functioned correctly. Lenovo has refused to assist in any manner.

IE9 won't open a lot of pages.  It just opens a new tab that is a blank screen and a empty tab title.  The extension types all vary.  However, if I cut and paste the link in a new tab it will work.  I already tried to down grade the version to 8, but it says its unsupported by windows 7 64 bit, funny I started with 8...

The awful Internet Explorer Image renderengine

$

The image rendering engine of IE 8,9, 10, 11 is always awful since years of in compare to ALL other browsers.

Example: If you have responsive Design you upload images at the highest resolution (1024x768) and the Browser scale this image as needed.

ALL browsers deliver scaled and sharp images except the IE 8,9, 10, 11 (IE 7 use-ms-interpolation-mode:bicubic) which no longer work.

Compare it with the frontpage of   www.microsoft.com - scale it to Smartphone Size and see the images: IE 8,9, 10, 11 always has NO anti-aliasing.

PLEASE FIX THIS - or people using IE must accept this...?!

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

Proxy pac file not working IE10

Hi,

After updating IE9 to IE10 we have problems in implementing our proxy configuration via a proxy.pac file.

The same proxy.pac file workings without issues in IE9.

Here the content of my proxy.pac file :

function FindProxyForURL(url, host) {
	// If URL has no dots in host name, send traffic direct.
	if (isPlainHostName(host))
		return "DIRECT";

	// If specific URL needs to bypass proxy, send traffic direct.
	if (shExpMatch(url,"*.chet.local*"))
		return "DIRECT";

	// If IP address is internal or hostname resolves to internal IP, send direct.
	var resolved_ip = dnsResolve(host);

	if (isInNet(resolved_ip, "10.0.0.0", "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(resolved_ip, "192.168.0.0",  "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(resolved_ip, "127.0.0.1", "255.255.255.255") ||
		isInNet(host, "10.0.0.0", "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(host, "192.168.0.0",  "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(host, "127.0.0.1", "255.255.255.255"))
		return "DIRECT";

	// All other traffic uses below proxies, in fail-over order.
	return "PROXY forti.chet.local:8080";
}

Here the configuration of Group Policy Preferences :
http://www.world-lolo.com/images/uploads/image.num1393325521.of.world-lolo.com.png

The problem occurs when opening Internet Explorer after the opening of the session.
When we try to access the internet nothing happens and we have a 404 error.

If we go into the internet settings / proxy in internet explorer and that we close the window with the OK button without touching any settings. Internet works.

The problem reappears after the closing and opening of the session.

Thanks for your help...

Sincerely

My internet explorer 11 in windows 7 randomly pops up ad such as the secure-score.org. I have run the Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 but could not detect any virus. I also have set the pop up block to high but the random pop up ads still enter my browser. Can I delete and then reinstall the Internet Explorer from the Windows 7? If it will work, how to locate and delete the internet explorer from the Windows 7? Do I have to download the internet explore before delete the current internet explorer? Thank you for your answer.
