Cannot load Active-X components.

$

I have a brand new computer -- fresh install of Windows 7 x64 with SP1 and all available OS updates.  When I get to a website that needs to load an Active-x component, I get an error saying that it failed to find the website to load the component.  I have checked all the security settings on my IE9 installation and all pertinant settings to allow (enable or prompt) active-x components are set correctly.  I have compared the settings to a similar computer that is working correctly for loading active-x components.

I'm stuck.  I've triple checked everything without success in finding any differences between the two computers.  I'm begining to think it has something to do with another piece of software, but don't have any idea where to start looking.  The new computer has virtually no software and only has the basic extra add-ons like java, Adobe reader, and Adobe flash, but these are the same on the computer that works correctly.

Any thoughts on what could be preventing axtive-x components from loading on the new computer?

Microsoft Update Catalog problems

Is anyone else having problems clicking on the browse button after being UAC'd when attempting to download a file from the Catalog?

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/DownloadInformation.aspx

In addition, even if UAC works, I get a cryptic proxy prompt asking me to enter my credentials to the "proxy-server."

I can't be the only one experience this. This is with Internet Explorer 8.x.

IE 10 will not install in Windows 7 64 bit SP1

I go past the prompt that says "restarting programs".  Then the installation fails.  The updates are all up to the minute.

Please help me install IE 10

Here is the log.  Same error in three tries.  It gives the IE10 Failed to install message.

Why are there conflicts with the Version Information given

$

I work in a browser-based software which does not support the use of Internet Explorer 7 and prior, and which also is not yet compatible with Internet Explorer 10.

To determine what browser our clients are using, we have an Admin tool that can been consulted. In this particular instance, it is showing me that the user is accessing our software via Internet Explorer 7.

There is also another website that we use to take a look at other details of their set up, and it also displays the browser that they are using to access that site from. In this particular instance, it is also showing me that the user is accessing via Internet Explorer 7.

However, when the client goes to "Help>About Internet Explorer" it is showing that they are running Internet Explorer 10.

They're running Windows 7.

Any idea why this is happening and how to explain to our client which version they're actually using and why there is conflicting information?

I've had this happen once before and the user was adamant that he was not using Internet Explorer 7

Managing proxy via GPP

Hey guys, just checking in to see how everyone else is managing a web proxy with IE10. I'm having some dramas with setting a proxy and managing exceptions to it.

So, I'm using the RSAT on a Win8 machine and trying to configure a Preference to define my proxy and some URL's I want to except from it. Setting the proxy works OK, but things change when you need to use the Advanced options. Setting some options under Advanced then clicking OK, disables the ability to define a proxy.

It's becoming quite an issue for me - I'm hoping some others have been through this one before me.

Cheers

IE 10 downloads language Packs during setup

We are using Win7 Enterprise. The Image language is English. Language Packs are installed for German and Italian.

Now I want to rollout IE 10 to these Clients.

My Problem:

No Matter what Kind of setup i use (IEAK-Package or original Packet) The setup of IE 10 always downloads the missing language Pack during setup.

In "IE10_main.log" you can always find entrys like:

----------------------------------------------------------

00:16.661: INFO:    Download for de-DE IE10_amd64 pack initiated. Downloading http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/F/C/7FCD6AE3-E4D4-48A7-A034-A4873F006058/de-de/amd64fre/Win6.1/cab/Windows6.1-KB2718695-x64.cab -> C:\Windows\TEMP\IE19A6A.tmp\IE10_amd64_de-DE.cab.
00:16.661: INFO:    Download for de Spelling pack initiated. Downloading http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/8/C/48CA86E9-96CB-4F7F-BBAA-82ACE5060F50/IE-Spelling-de.msu -> C:\Windows\TEMP\IE19A6A.tmp\Spelling_de.msu.
00:16.676: INFO:    Download for de Hyphenation pack initiated. Downloading http://download.microsoft.com/download/B/3/9/B39C9E62-5C64-4D7B-AFB3-D01EDD23BB98/IE-Hyphenation-de.msu -> C:\Windows\TEMP\IE19A6A.tmp\Hyphenation_de.msu.

---------------------------------------------

Command line I used for original file:

IE10-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe /quiet /update-no /closeprograms /norestart /log:c:\install\logs

My Questions:

- Am I doing something wrong or is this by design??

- Is there a way to create a IE10 setup with language Packs integrated so that the clients don't connect to the Internet and download it.

Thanks for any help!

Cannot "Save and Open" htm files

With IE9, when I click on a link to download a htm or html file, I get a pop-up from the download manager asking Do you wan to save ...  The options are Save, Save As, or Cancel.  The Save and Open option is grayed out.  I would like to be able to "Save and Open".   Is there a way that I can change how the download manager handles htm and html files so that I can "Save and Open"?

Mixed Content IE8 for a NON HTTP or HTTPS URL

$

Hi

We have been migrating to IE8 and have some web applications which call content from a Lotus Notes database.

Since moving from IE6 to IE8, a problem has occured where when you click on the link to the notes database, it displays the "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely" message.

  • Click Yes and you get a page cannot be displayed.
  • Click No and you get Notes launching and loading the database.

I have ensured that both the source web page and the notes server URL are in Local Intranet Zone which has "Display Mixed Content" enabled and this hasn't resolved the issue.

I have a horrible feeling that because the URL is NOTES:// and not a HTTP or HTTPs that this is never going to work?

Hoping whether someone could confirm that or if there is a way to fix it, a solution?! It used to work fine in IE6 but I think it kind of just ignored things like this!

Thanks in advance.

Jonathan

Is there a fix to the IE10 issue on Windows 7 (sharepoint 2010, your client does not support opening this list with windows explorer)?

$

On a computer that's running Windows 7 (x64 in my case) with Internet Explorer 10, when you click "Open with Explorer" in Microsoft SharePoint 2010, you receive the following error message:  "Your client does not support opening this list with Windows Explorer."

The website in question has been added to the IE10 Trusted Sites list.

The server is configured properly in that this functionality works in IE9 and below on Windows 7 and for IE10 on Windows 8.  (I've not yet applied the June 2013 cumulative update for SharePoint, however.  But I'd really like to see an IE10 patch in that we need to access document libraries in other SharePoint 2010 servers that we do not manage.)

According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2835527/en-us this is also a known problem for SharePoint Online and per that KB article, "Microsoft is working to resolve the issue."  However, that KB article was published a number of months ago.

Has this issue been resolved?  If not, is there a hotfix that can be applied to IE10 pending a service pack release?  And, what is the timeline for the fix?

Internet Explorer 10 problem with recognizing file modification during upload

I had updated the price to 495 and saved the word file before sending yet for some reason there was a glitch/bug with Internet explorer 10/Microsoft Word and Windows 8 where it was uploading the old version last modified June 12th.  I even tried it now and when I look at the properties of the file it still reads modified June 12th when viewing through internet explorer.   Only with Chrome could I get the modified version to upload.  Very Bizarre.  99/100 times it is human error (not hitting save before attaching), but in this case it is a software compatibility issue.

I updated to IE9 today and I hate it! Nothing is in the right place and my search box is not on the toolbar. I am a full time student at Oral Roberts University and after I downloaded IE9 I could not get to my email, which is Novell WebAccess through the school. It would let me log in and then when it got to the page that was upposed to display my email it was completely blank. How do I get back to IE8? and please don't offer an update until ALL the bugs are worked out!! This is ridiculous!!

hi everyone,

One of our applications uses capicom.dll to sign the data with digital certificates. In IE9 , it throws error 'Signature is Invalid' while the same data is getting signed in IE8.

I use Windows 7 64 bits and Internet Explorer 9 . Is there any workaround for this problem ?

This is critical issue for us now and need solution or workaround asap.

Thanks,

we are a windows 7 IE8 company, that previously used the old inetres.admx to manage IE trusted sites. the new IE10 template has the same name and we started using the new IE10 template. while the old template left the trusted site settings open for the user to add sites, the new IE10 template does not. does anyone know how to allow the new ie10 template to also allow the user to make changes? Note: The computer section of the gpo are disabled on both group policies.

Thank you

must run ie 10 or 9 as administrator

Long time ago, I found I must run ie 9 as Administrator, otherwise I cannot type words in any webpage.

Recently when I open the ie10, the error says that the program is wrong and closed. Even if I restore the ie, the issue persists. But if I run as administrator, it's ok. Before the issue occur, I think the registry has been changed.

I want to know how to troubleshoot the issue. Since different reasons cause the same scenario, but how can I find the reason?

Extra space appears after letter 'w' when used with Arial font and font size 8pt

Hi,

I am generating a report in my application which is displayed on IE. I have noticed that when Arial font with font size 8pt is used, letter 'w' is displayed with one extra space. For example, word 'owners' is displayed as 'ow ners'. When I rendered the report in pdf, everything looked fine. Also if I increase the font size from 8pt to 9pt, the extra spacing disappears and text displays perfectly.

Can anyone please let me know if this a bug in IE ? any workaround will be appreciated.

Thanks.
