Internet Explorer is opening itself with blank pages

About two weeks ago, I was on my laptop when my buddy thought it to be funny when he started pressing a number of random keys on my keyboard. When he did this my computer screen froze and I had to restart the computer. When it came back on I tired to get onto Internet Explorer. I opened it and it came up a blank page, and wouldn't let me put anything into the address bar and nothing but a white screen comes up.

Now two weeks later the Internet Explorer page is popping up on it's own and the page is still blank. Plus the pages are popping up about five at a time. This is become a very frustrating issue, especially since I just got this laptop a couple months ago. Is there anything that I can do to fix this issue without having to take it somewhere? I'm not very IT capable, but I now normally enough to get through small issue, but not this time. Any help would be great!

IE 11 and rich text in Outlook Web Access

I'm using IE11 to view Outlook Web Access and have saved Message Format in Options as HTML.

When I start a new message, it defaults to HTML, but when I respond to an email, it defaults to plain text.  Is there a way to make my response default to HTML?

This happens whether I view Outlook Web Access in compatibility mode or not.

IE11 installation from WSUS - crashes immediately and repeatedly

After importing IE11 into WSUS and rolling it out to our workstations, Internet Explorer crashes immediately on all workstations that have been upgraded to IE11. Our WSUS does not keep updates locally, and all workstations download directly from Microsoft.

When opening, the user can close the app, but then it keeps prompting.

All workstations log the following two events;

To work around this, I have to run a system restore on the workstation.

Any previously updated workstations exhibit the same crash even if they are manually updated after a system restore.

Internet Explorer 10 Installation Won't Work??

Hi,

My Windows 7 (64Bit) system did an automatic update recently which messed with Internet Outlook to such an extent that it just wouldn't open - just white screen came up then disappeared again. So I have had to uninstall the IE10 version that was loaded onto my machine and have tried re-installing it but that doesn't work either. I get a message at the end of the installation sequence saying'Internet Explorer did not finish installing' and when I select the 'troubleshooter' link below for more info, all I get is another message saying 'There was a problem sending the command to the program'.

Pretty useless 'Troubleshooting' advice - what I am meant to do to with that?? Googling it (using Chrome as a browser) doesn't bring up any solutions relevant to my problem.

So if anyone can help me with this frustrating problem, I would be most grateful. I have no idea how to get IE back onto my machine now.....

Unable to Install Root CA Certificate - Certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certificate authority.

Hi,

I am trying to install CA root certificate on Windows 7, IE 9.

Encounter error: "Untrusted Certificate".  "This certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certificate authority."

I have tried to install the certificate to Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->local computer and import was successful. BUT on IE->Internet Options->Certificate->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities, I am unable to find this root CA on the list.

On mmc->Certificates->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities->certificates, I am able to view this root CA.

I then restarted the IE and view the ssl site again but failed too, "Untrusted Certificate".

Anyone, any idea ?

I tried reinstalling and that didn't work. Then I tried uninstalling and installing with a downloaded version of IE but that wouldn't work is said that there was a newer version installed. I tried the Microsoft FixIt and that also didn't work. Disabling the plug-ins same story. I cant boot into safe mode since I'm remotely managing the computer. Is there anything else I can try except for a repair install of windows?

Thanks in advance!

Niels

Cookies not working in IE9 on 2008R2

Hi All,

We have a very strange issue where our desktops running Win7 x86 + SP1 and IE9 can successfully access an internal web application that uses cookies. The cookie is used to call up a customer and is retained in the session until you log out the app.

However if I run that same app on 2008R2 + SP1 with IE9 the cookie is expiring after approximately 20 seconds and all the customer information is lost.

- If I re-enter the customer information a 2nd time then the cookie seems to be retained.
- If I open the app in the browser and then open it a 2nd time in a new tab/window the application works fine and the cookie is retained
- I have tired with/without the same IE GPO's that are applied to the desktops to ensure all settings (including the cookie settings) are identical
- I have tried on both IE and IE x64 on the server
- I have a small random selection of other Windows 2008R2 servers where the app works fine without the need for multiple tabs/windows. In theory these servers are identical builds and patch levels and IE versions which makes no sense to me.

I have tried the TabProcGrowth registry key on 0 and 1 but it has not made any difference.

I am pretty stumped on this now...

Proxy pac file not working IE10

Hi,

After updating IE9 to IE10 we have problems in implementing our proxy configuration via a proxy.pac file.

The same proxy.pac file workings without issues in IE9.

Here the content of my proxy.pac file :

function FindProxyForURL(url, host) {
	// If URL has no dots in host name, send traffic direct.
	if (isPlainHostName(host))
		return "DIRECT";

	// If specific URL needs to bypass proxy, send traffic direct.
	if (shExpMatch(url,"*.chet.local*"))
		return "DIRECT";

	// If IP address is internal or hostname resolves to internal IP, send direct.
	var resolved_ip = dnsResolve(host);

	if (isInNet(resolved_ip, "10.0.0.0", "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(resolved_ip, "192.168.0.0",  "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(resolved_ip, "127.0.0.1", "255.255.255.255") ||
		isInNet(host, "10.0.0.0", "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(host, "192.168.0.0",  "255.255.0.0") ||
		isInNet(host, "127.0.0.1", "255.255.255.255"))
		return "DIRECT";

	// All other traffic uses below proxies, in fail-over order.
	return "PROXY forti.chet.local:8080";
}

Here the configuration of Group Policy Preferences :
http://www.world-lolo.com/images/uploads/image.num1393325521.of.world-lolo.com.png

The problem occurs when opening Internet Explorer after the opening of the session.
When we try to access the internet nothing happens and we have a 404 error.

If we go into the internet settings / proxy in internet explorer and that we close the window with the OK button without touching any settings. Internet works.

The problem reappears after the closing and opening of the session.

Thanks for your help...

Sincerely

Internet Explorer 11 wont uninstall or work

I am trying to help two friends with IE11 problems on Windows 7 64bit computers.

One cannot print from either IE11 or from Outlook. IE11 will also not open a link in a new window or new tab

The second one constantly gets the message IE has experience a problem and has to quit and it does.

Unfortunately I can not uninstall IE11 on either machine and revert back to IE10
When I go to the IE11 installation Update and choose to uninstall the update, I get an error message that it could not complete the operation.   I have tried the Administrator cmd line "FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /quiet /norestart"
but on one machine I got an error on each action line.  On the other machine the cmd ran, but after a restart IE11 was still there.

I could really use some help in fixing these two machines.  I think removing IE11 and going back to IE10 needs to be done.

IE Traffic being forced to tunnel via port 443

I have a Windodws 2008 R2 server that has been in production for over 2 years.  It is a Hyper-V host running five 2008 R2 guests.  Everything wasw running fine until a couple of weeks ago when I installed the latest HP firmware and drivers.  Since then, Internet Explorer cannot open any website except www.google.com.  After uninstalled IE9 and then installing IE10 there was no change.  I've scanned the server with malwarebytes and HiJackThis.  No problems found.  I reset IE and reset the TCP/IP stack.  No change.  I removed McAfee AV and I'm now able to access google and one other site.  I then installed Fiddler and looked at what is happening and it appears that most websites are trying to tunnel using port 443 rather than using the typical port 80.  I'm not sure how to interpret this.  I know name resolution is working and can ping the sites I'm trying to reach.  If I go to a standard site, saywww.yahoo.com, the IE window stays blank but if I go to Tools/View Source it appears I'm looking at the HTML from the target site.  Below is a summary of the Fiddler output when I tried to go to yahoo.com.  Any help is greatly appreciated as I am all out of ideas.

Thanks,
Joe
