Proxy server and bypass settings are not persistent

$

0

I recently have a Problem with proxy settings including bypassing for local addresses.

When I set the data and have the "automatic recognition of settings" button unchecked, the system does not accept my settings.
When I open the IE again I see that the previous settings with no proxy and no bypass data are still configured.

Why does the proxy setting not work?

IE8/9 says every file "contained a file and was deleted"

I have multiple computers on my domain that will not download files or attachments in IE8 and 9.  It says "<filename> contained a virus and was deleted".  Everything will download fine in Chrome and Firefox and these files do not contain viruses - it happens on every file I try to download, or every attachment in all emails.

Is there a setting in IE that is causing this - it is happening on about 30 computers out of 100 in our domain - all with the same group policy settings for IE.

We are clueless and frustrated to figure this out and ready to just roll out Chrome to everybody to fix the problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

IE 9 does not open downloads

Running Windows 7 SP1, IE 9.  I have no trouble downloading files, but when I click "Open" the download never opens, regardless of the file type.  I've reporduced this with executables, Word DOC files and Adobe PDF files among others.  I thought the problem might be Norton Antivirus, so I removed it, but the problem still occurred.  I have tried setting IE settings to the default, still no go.  Any ideas?

IE10 Scrollbar color issue

I have installed IE10 and I am wondering if there is a way to change the color of the scrollbar.  The light grey is so light it's hard to see.  I have tried a few things and searched around and come up with nothing.  I love the preview otherwise and would like to keep it but this one thing might make me use another as I swap back and forth between IE and Comodo Dragon.

Thanks in advance,

Internet Explorer 10 and 11 not saving cookies when Roaming Profile used.

Hi,

We are using Citrix Xenapp 6.5 with roaming profile and IE9.
I have tried to upgrade to IE10 and IE11 on a test Xenapp server, when we log off Windows and log back on again any website settings stored in cookies were lost.

The cookies is stored in the roaming part of the profile. New in IE10 is the webcache file database that keeps track of cookie stored in the profile
AppData\Local folder gets deleted when you log off, if you have a roaming profile, and when you log on again all coockies are rewritten. Same problem with IE11.

When accessing the following page, on IE 32 bit, it gives the attached anomally.

Accessing the same page on IE 64 bit, displays fine.

I am at a loss to understand why.

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

Sites work using manual proxy but not with automatic detect

I asked this in the ISA forum but they said since the WPAD file isn't generated by ISA to cross-post over here.

We have an ISA 2006 build 5.0.5712 operating as our web proxy. We have WPAD configured both in DNS and in DHCP to point to this ISA server. There are two sites (rentsentinel.com and epmsonline.com) which when we use the 'Automatically detect settings' option in IE8, it either gives red X's in part of the homepage (rentsentinel), or doesn't show the page at all (epms). If we manually specify the proxy settings for this same server, it works fine. It would also appear that one can browse fine on random sites, but once we attempt to browse to one of these two sites,  that further browsing to other sites no longer works, even those we visited in the same browsing session.

If I manually specify the http://wpad/wpad.dat file in the config field, no change in behavior. But if I use that same entry in Firefox, both websites render fine. Our wpad.dat is included below, with our internal domain name switched to domain.com.

I'm looking for help on getting these sites working correctly with automatic detection. Thanks!

IE pulling up a blank page

My IE (10) was working yesterday morning but it came up with an error saying it had stopped and needed to close. I can open IE but the page is blank. I can type in an address in the address bar but the page just sits blank. I have click on the gear and the only options that aren't grey out are file, safety and compatibility view settings. I have gone in and done all the updates, however this still didn't fix the problem. I went into the action center and it couldn't find a problem with it either. I have cleared all history, cookies and cache. Still the page is blank. All of my other web browsers are working just not IE> Can anyone help?

Internet Explorer 11 wont uninstall or work

I am trying to help two friends with IE11 problems on Windows 7 64bit computers.

One cannot print from either IE11 or from Outlook. IE11 will also not open a link in a new window or new tab

The second one constantly gets the message IE has experience a problem and has to quit and it does.

Unfortunately I can not uninstall IE11 on either machine and revert back to IE10
When I go to the IE11 installation Update and choose to uninstall the update, I get an error message that it could not complete the operation.   I have tried the Administrator cmd line "FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /quiet /norestart"
but on one machine I got an error on each action line.  On the other machine the cmd ran, but after a restart IE11 was still there.

I could really use some help in fixing these two machines.  I think removing IE11 and going back to IE10 needs to be done.

IE 10 will not install in Windows 7 64 bit SP1

I go past the prompt that says "restarting programs".  Then the installation fails.  The updates are all up to the minute.

Please help me install IE 10

Here is the log.  Same error in three tries.  It gives the IE10 Failed to install message.

IE 10 on Windows 7 - 64bit: Pointing to Java 32-bit or 64-bit

Hello,

I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine with IE10 currently installed.  I also have Java 32-bit and Java 64-bit installed on the machine, as both are necessary for an array of applications.

I have an application that must be invoked with Java 32-bit.  When trying to open the application I am receiving a "cannot load 32bit dll on..."

I realize this exception is because the application is trying to be opened using the Java 64-bit version and this will not work.

Is there a way to set IE10 so it uses the 32-bit version of Java when trying to open this specific application, other than editing the registry settings on the machine?

Uniqueness of IE tabs

When multiple tabs are opened in Internet Explorer, is there uniqueness between these tabs?

Is there any GUID kind property on IE tab which can be accessed through javascript?

Thanks in Advance -

ADM templates for Java

Ok, this is a bit off topic, but let me put this up:

1. On a windows 7 with the latest Java, I am accessing a Java page

http://nlvm.usu.edu/en/nav/frames_asid_190_g_1_t_1.html

2. This page doesn't have a trusted certificate, as its an educational purpose one, anyway, I get the message :

"Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running."

3. Referring to : http://www.java.com/en/download/help/appsecuritydialogs.xml : I can as a Admnistrative user go in and goto Control Panel, Get to Java (32-bit)  and open it up
Then I can go to Security and add the exception there.
My issue is with users who are non-administrators.

So I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar requirement where they had to do something in the Java Control Panel and used an ADM template, one they created or one available somewhere to configure it globally.

Marking download as virus, how to bypass

Hey All,

I have a client with IE10 running on Win7 Pro 64bit. Just recently he is unable to download a PDF from a trusted source. He keeps getting a message saying that the file had a virus and has been removed, the message is from the built in scanner on IE10 not a 3rd party program. It works perfectly fine on all other computers, almost 30 in total with the same setup. Here are the things that I have tried:

-IE10 With no add-ons

-Firefox and Chrome (no problem, I can download and view without any issues, but the website does not show properly)

-Safe mode with networking

-Full scan with Malwarebytes Pro, Symantec Endpoint Security, HiJackThis, all show clean

-Save as, change name and extension, still detects as infection

-Uninstalled/reinstalled IE10

-Rolled back to IE9

-Upgraded to IE11

I am stumped, any thoughts?

IE 11 blocks access to "Microsoft Update" service

Using Windows Update on Windows 7 SP1, there is an option to enable "Microsoft Update" at the bottom to also update Office and other Microsoft applications:

Get updates for other Microsoft products. Find out more.

,

This opens a webpage, which in IE 10 and earlier, allows me to enable Microsoft Update.

However, IE 11 does not show the page to enable Microsoft Update but shows a useless and unrelated help message:

Use your Start menu to check for updates

How am I supposed to enable the optional Microsoft Update service now?

Internet Explorer display blank page

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.
