Hello,

I'm looking for the 'Internet Explorer Compatibility Test Tool' for an upcoming Windows 7 and 8.1 deployment using IE 11.  I can't seem to find this tool in ACT 6.  I can't seem to find any information on it either. Please advise.  Thanks

Internet Exporer 11: Disable search from address bar (entirely)

$

When we try to use internal websites (sites like hostname.some.subdomain.com:NNNN/some/path/ ) internet explorer 11 shows autocomplete entries for previous visits to those websites, but, when selected, it then searches bing for those URLs, and that makes very little sense to do.

it's an address bar. it's where addresses are typed in. I don't want internal website addresses (frankly, any website addresses) to turn into a bing search. I don't search from the address bar. Ever. In previous versions I could disable that, and in this version that option seems to have been replaced with "go directly if a single word is typed in [intranet site like "home" or "intranet" or "sharepoint", etc.] ", but that doesn't disable the search feature enough to avoid still continuing to search when internal websites are entered/selected in the address bar.

Is there some other place to disable the search, so that addresses typed into the address bar work?

How can I restore IE 10 after 11 installs?

Hello all,

Internet Explorer 11 automatically installed on my computer and now I'm having trouble logging into several sites (notably my online bank site and eBay).  I want to go back to IE 10 or even 9 but haven't found a way to do that.  So far I've tried:

  1. Turning IE 11 off (since you can't uninstall it)
  2. Tried to install IE 10 but it says it's already installed (the same goes for IE 9)
  3. Tried to find the .exe file for 9 or 10 (since it's still installed) but every iexplore.exe opens IE 11 and no other.
  4. My last resort will be to do a complete computer restore to an earlier date before IE 11 was installed.  But I hate to do that.

The error I get on eBay is "If you are seeing this page, your browser settings prevent you for automatically redirecting to a new URL."   I can log in fine with Google Chrome but get nowhere with IE 11.  I’ve tried to find the settings that prevent a page from redirecting but can find nothing, plus IE 11 is totally different from previous versions so have to figure out where the settings even are.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or tips to help me get back to an earlier version of Internet Explorer?  I’m really frustrated with IE all together now and if there is no solution, I’ll just stay with Google Chrome.

Thanks,

Marcine

Option to turn "Menu Bar" on/off no longer works

Have a weird issue as of today.  I've checked multiple Windows 7-IE9, Windows 8-IE10, and also a Windows 8.1-IE11 computers.  On all computers, the option to turn the "Menu Bar" on or off no longer works!

In fact, if you 'right click' on a blank area at the top of IE, the "Menu Bar" item no longer shows up in the popup menu!  On one of the computers the Menu Bar in IE had previously been enabled.  So I selected "View" - "Toolbars" - "Menu Bar" and it does nothing.  It doesn't turn off/on the menu bar.

It's like the Menu Bar option is completely fubar as of today.  I had worked last week on a different computer and this WAS working.

Has anyone else run into this or are you currently seeing this?

IE 11 security settings / Server 2012 domain joined server

Can someone clarify how the Security settings are automatically managed on domain jointed computers in IE 11 / Server 2012 R2:

There seem to be different settings depending on the IE Enhanced Security Settings.

I particular if IE Enhanced Security Settings are on, Security is forced to High for Internet and admins cannot change it.

If IE Enhanced Security Settings is off for admins Security is forced to Medium High and admins cannot change it

If IE Enhanced Security Settings is off Security is Medium-High and admins can change it

Is this by design?

Run As Administrator seems to have no effect.

This only happens on domain joined systems

Win 7 / IE 10Cannot open PDF until PDF is downloaded

I have an incredibly weird issue. I'm unable to open PDF links via Internet Explorer [they open up blank] until I download a PDF, at which point PDF links work just fine.

After I download the PDF file, an empty folder I created 4 months ago re-appears.  If I leave the downloaded PDF and old folder on my desktop, I can open PDF links without issue, however, as soon as the folder is deleted, the PDF links start opening blank again.

Any ideas?

After installing the above referenced important update my previously working coded ui tests are unable to find controls in IE9 and all tests fail.  Rolling back the update resolves the issue.

Has anybody else encountered such problems or know what the issue might be?

Thank you

Josh

Internet Explorer display blank page

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.

Problem with Page set-up with Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 7

I have upgraded from IE10 to IE11.  I have not changed Page Setup in any way, so my current settings are as follows:

Page size:       A4
All Margins:    19.05 millimetres
Shrink to Fit:   Enabled
Header:          Title       Empty      Page # of Total Pages
Footer:            URL       Empty      Date and Time (in long format)

The upgrade to IE11 is causing printing problems.

With IE10, the footer used to display the URL of the web page.  With IE10, the footer shows the location of a temporary file on my computer.

So when I print this page, the URL appears as file:///C:/USERS/[User name]/AppData/Local/Temp/Low/XRP72PG2..., instead of "http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/newthread?category..."

The location of the temporary file on my computer is totally useless.  Is there any way of reverting to the previous printer format?

IE 11 on Windows 7 x64 does not display FeedBurner feeds correctly

$

Dear All,

I have just installed Internet Explorer 11 on my Windows 7 x64 system. It all went smoothly except for certain feeds not displaying correctly. After a bit of investigation it seems FeedBurner feeds are the ones which do not work.

Any of the FeedBurner feeds I was subscribed to previously display a webpage instead of the standard feed view, and cannot be marked as read. Also, if I try to subscribe to a new FeedBurner feed, there is no "Subscribe to this feed" link to click on, only the same webpage.

I have also noticed that the only Medium.com feed I am subscribed to only displays the XML code of the feed, not the standard feed view. There is only one of those, so I cannot say if it is general or not; but the FeedBurner issue is general though.

Is this a general occurrence? If so, when can we expect a solution?

Thank you for your help.

WHY CAN'T IE FIX THE CRASHES?

After using IE 8,9,10,and now 11, I can say that IE is the best web browser on earth it just need a kick start on its framework. My point being is that these crashes need to be fixed and stopped I prefer IE over Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome because for one Google Chrome is extremely laggy with HD videos, Opera is okay but crashes and is slow and Firefox is too slow as well. If IE can step up their game in the improvement department that would be swell I'm sick and tired of getting hit with crashes at random times when doing important work and have to start from scratch and I'm running on a HP notebook PC 2000 if that helps any if you can step up the browser and squash these problems it would be greatly appreciated

IE 10 opening file download prompt in the background

$

Hello,

My company is using IE 10 as their default browser and was just recently upgraded to that form IE8. We use Oracle as our ERP system and employees need to export data to Excel. This requires a download prompt from IE 10. Since Oracle will already be in the foreground when the export is started, the file download prompt will open in the background behind Oracle. This is causing a lot of confusion because the file download prompt does not come to the foreground.

I am aware that we can disable all file download prompts, but for business purposes we will need to keep the prompts.

Does anyone know if there is a way to make IE 10 file download prompts come to the foreground?

Footer of printed page shows local drive path instead of the webpage url

$

When I print any webpage in IE10 in Windows 7, the footer contains a file path like file:///C:/Users/username/AppData/Local/Temp/Low/80S1TSTK.htm instead of the URL of the webpage I am printing. In the Page Setup settings of Print Preview I have chosen to print the URL in the footer. This started happening after I reinstalled Windows when my computer got infected.

I have tried the following but I still have the problem.

In my registry I went to the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PageSetup and made sure the footer value is &u&b&d.

When above action did not fix it, I reset Internet Explorer (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737). The problem remains. It is still there after IE automatically updated to IE11.

Any help will be appreciated.

I have seen lots of posts but no answers.

I have Windows 8 Pro RTM installed from MSDN. I am running IE10 and I go to my Linksys router and get the usual certificate error. In all previous versions of IE, you could just click continue and move forward. IE10 does not all this, please let me know where this setting is so I can use IE10, I hope I am not forced to use Chrome. Also there is no option to run as IE9 for some reason.

hello. I have noticed this problem 3 days ago when I started having log in issued with yahoo messenger and it suggested I load a page in IE/.

"

This page can’t be displayed
  • Make sure the web address http://www.google.comis correct.
  • Look for the page with your search engine.
  • Refresh the page in a few minutes."

I click the "fix connection problems" and a pop up window says "an error is preventing the troubleshooter from starting"
