Continual JavaScript Errors

0
0

Hi

Recently I have started to receive continual javascript errors. I was on IE9 so upgraded to IE10 in the hope it would resolve the problem but no luck.

Basically I browse to pretty much any site and it will occur (assuming the site runs js). So in this example browse to Bing and perform a search and I will get this error

Line: 4
Error: Number expected

It always seems to start with a number expected error and then I might get 5 or 6 errors that follow this.

I have done the following but to no avail.

1. Checked all IE settings to allow js. In fact tried running the sites with no security restrictions.

2. Cleared caches.

3. Rebooted.

Attached is an image of debugging one of the errors and it show it is failing because c is not a number but looking c itself we can see it is a number.

What is strange though is if I run the site (bing in this case) in compatibility mode then I no longer get any errors. As stated earlier I get this on pretty much any site ms, google, bing etc.

Any ideas would be great thanks,

D

I keep getting the following upon starting my computer:

C:\Users|(My user name)|AppData|Local|Conduit|BackgroundContainer.dll

What is the issue and what can I do to fix this?

I believe I am using IE 11.

Thanks,

Nick

Internet Explorer display blank page

0
0

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.

How can I change IE10's default browser mode to IE8?

My company is a little outdated and IE8 is the only compatible browser that I can use for my job.  I just had to get a new computer and it has windows 8.  I know if I open up IE10 and press F12 I can then change the browser mode from IE10 to IE8, but I have to do that for every window.  Is there a way to change it to where it defaults to IE8 mode?

Just to be clear what I am basically saying is I have to user internet explorer for my job, there is no alternative.  I am also saying that if the browser is not IE 8 or in IE 8 mode, it won't work at all.  I am trying to find a way where I don't have to manually change it to IE 8 mode everytime I open a new tab or window on Internet Explorer.

Please help!
Thank you

Kyle

P.S. I have seen this kind of question asked before and seen this answer:

Hi,

there is Quirks, Near Standards and Standards modes.... the Document and Browser modes are for testing purposes...visitors to your sites should not have to consider what browser or version they are using... code to standards and offer fallbacks for browser versions that don't support the features of your website.

for any web page validate you web pages with a valid document type and correct the errors to allow the web browser to parse and render the document in 'Standards' mode.... Different IE version are capable of (have been programmed for) different releases (versions) of (x)html. IE8 and higher are capable of displaying validated in Standards mode... IE8, IE9 and IE10 have different error corrections and symbol tables and various levels of implementation of the css2 and 3 specs. (see w3c.org)

I have absolutely no idea what any of that means, and it doesn't seem to be answering my question.  Just wanted to clarify that this answer would not help me, or that I don't understand it.

'Display a notification about every script error' not working in IE11

Hi all,

I want to see script errors when script errors occur in pages (as a developer). In older versions of IE when you enable 'Display a notification about every script error' a yellow icon appeared at the bottom of IE and when you clicked it, you could see what was wrong in the scripting.

In IE11 this no longer works. Is this a bug ?

Win 7 Pro updates to Internet Explorer 11 every web page has blank frames and radio buttons. Updates show only IE11.

This entry frame on your page has radio buttons, giving me some editing functions - Bold, Italic, Underline, Insert unordered List, Insert Ordered List, Insert Hyperlink, Remove Hyperlink, Insert HTML, etc... but I cannot see them.  Ever since updating Internet Explorer to ver 11, there is no going back to IE8.  Your Tech forum monitors keep rehashing the same links that do not answer this snafu.  Your Monitors suggest that the web sites are not running because they are not compatible with the newer versions of Internet Explorer - well, even Microsoft's websites?  When you create a new web interface, why would your coding team make it incompatible with your own company's sites?

The Monitors suggest our cards can't handle GPU and we should turn to software rendering.  My card is a GeForce GTX 50 TI and has, according to the manufacturer web site: "Microsoft®  DirectX® 11 Support
DirectX 11 GPU with  Shader Model 5.0 support designed for ultra high performance in the new API’s  key graphics feature, GPU-accelerated tessellation."

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE and Microsoft must realize no customer wants to have the technical side string them along with pointless and futile misdirection to a garble of automatic chat responses that offer incomplete and unrelated fixes and then expect to gain points in the voting buttons that "this fixed my problem".

Microsoft: you are ignoring compatibility problems with your coding and pretending it is arises from hardware incompatibility or user stupidity.  Your code should be running seamlessly, should accommodate existing technologies, and be flexible enough to accept limitations of older hardware, older websites, and your monitors should march into Microsoft's development offices and demand answers ---- and fixes.  Has Microsoft gone into hiding when the latest technology show-piece isn't working for the rest of the world?  We do not exist in a research bubble.  We are here in the real world, with aging equipment and tight budgets, and we expect better from Microsoft.

Want to disable/"grey out" dial-up connection "settings" button in the "connections" tab of Internet Options

Hi, I'm looking to "grey out" a dial-up connection for some users in workplace, so that they are forced to use our VPN client in order to access the web. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I know you can disable all settings on that tab using local group policy, (e.g. Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer) but I only want to disable a specific dial-up connection (for usb 3G modems).

I've read of various IE settings being locked down in the registry here, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions, but havent seen the settings I want.

The actual connection is visible here, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections, I just cant figure out how to grey it out. Any ideas? Thanks!

IE11 ignores group policy preferences

0
0

Our image has IE10 installed using a customized IE installer using the IEAK.  Thus it has had the main district home page set as its default.  Nothing we have been able to set it group policy has been able to change this home page.

We used to use Internet Explorer maintenance to change the home page at each one of our schools.  As this section was a policy, it took priority over the setup branding done by IEAK. Now that MS has removed Internet Explorer maintenance, we have tried using and IE10 group policy preferences. While IE10 preferences are supposed to apply to IE11, we have been unable to get it to change the homepage of IE11.

I looked at downloading an IE11 ADMX template but only got an ADM.  I've very confused as to why MS is even distributing ADM templates these days but it doesn't look like it would add anything that my Windows 8.1 computer doesn't already have in its RSAT for 8.1 GPMC.

I'm hoping that IE maintenance still works despite MS's assertion that it does not.  Short of that, I'll have to make setup branding for each of our 34 schools, just to change the home page.  Has anyone had success with GP and IE11's home page?

Ignore X-UA-Compatible in IE10

0
0

I'm trying to find out how to tell IE10 to stop listening to the "X-UA-Compatible" tag on websites, and do what I (the user)want it to do instead. So far I've only managed to use the developer tools to turn it of temporarily, but it always reverts back when I open up new tabs (which I do a lot, so sticking to one tab is not really an option... nor should it be). I've messed with various compatibility settings I've found, but non of them seem to affect pages where this meta tag is set.

The back-story is that I'm using a site that reverts the rendering mode to IE8 using "X-UA-Compatible", because IE9 apparently took offense to some code in there and couldn't render it properly. IE10, on the other hand, seems to have overcome that particular problem. Unfortunately, the meta tag specifies that it should use IE8, not that it should specifically avoid IE9, so now it's stuck in IE8 mode even though IE10 would work fine. (And there are a few HTML5 features on that site I'd like to see working, now that the browser can actually render them.)

So, can this be done? And if not, then why?!

Thanks.

IE Proxy Exception Addesses Limits?

When using proxy to access the Internet you can bypass the proxy by adding IP addresses or Domains in the Exceptions box.

My question is:  Is there a limit as to how many exceptions is can add?

I use Group Policies to add exceptions.

I am using IE 6,7 and 8.  Mostly IE7.

My DCs are native 2008.

IE opening multiple windows when searching google only.

We have a problem where IE opens multiple windows when searching in Google. As a result of this we are receiving Google sorry page informing us that Google is receiving automated search requests from our public IP. Is there any quick fix to this problem apart from restoring and reset setting  in IE.

Is anybody else facing this issue.?

Internet Explorer 10 cookies and roaming profiles (WebCache directory)

0

Hi,

I'm having a cookie problem on 2 out of 2 tested environments using Windows Server 2008 R2 (with roaming profiles) and Internet Explorer 10 (IEAK'ed) :S

For instance when I login to www.google.com with my username and password, as long as I'm using my Windows session I'm logged in towww.google.com every time I open the browser (with all iexplore.exe processes closed before). When I logoff my Windows session my (roaming) profile is beeing saved on the fileserver and the locally cached Windows profile is beeing deleted.

When I logon to Windows again (on the same computer) the roaming profile is beeing copied from the fileserver to my client (including the .txt cookies), butwww.google.com isn't logging me in automatically. The same thing happens with other cookies related stuff on websites :S

Also tried WITH and WITHOUT folder redirection for AppData/Cookies/etc, even a newly installed environment with Microsoft defaults is giving me problems.

Anybody out there having the same problem ?

Internet Explorer 11 Compatibility View & Group Policy

0

ok so I last week deployed Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013, thinking my recent additions to my domain group policy that add the CRM server to the IE Compatibility View list (registry key: HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\BrowserEmulation\PolicyList ), fixed the problem of the CRM server showing the MOBILE version of the CRM site because it doesn't like the user agent string in IE11. Much like it has fixed this for a bunch of other sites I have in that registry key that don't work in IE11. Well I come to find out today, that, IE 11 apparently no longer supports this and an update to it has broken this functionality somehow. Specifcally I see that clearing the browser History removes all the entries that are in the Compatibility View list, and my group policy preference doesn't seem to get applied any longer either. I have read that there's apparently a new binary string in a similar location that stores this, however that doesn't let me add & remove entries at will using group policy, nor does it prevent the user from clearing them out unintentionally by clearing their history, or resetting IE which we often due because its so fragile. Outlook Web access also shows the basic view rather than the premium view in IE 11, this I see there's at least a new update rollup available thats supposed to fix it, but with recent Exchange update rollup failure I'm reluctant to install them for awhile after they're released and that requires scheduled maintenance etc. That is not a fix. A fix is putting the Compatibility View settings back the way they were and letting us admins administer our networks like we were able to. Not only all this, but now you can't even add a sub-domain to compatibility view as it gets truncated to the WHOLE domain regardless. And according to this : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn321449.aspx?ppud=4 - even THAT is going away. WTF.

I dont have a hard time believing MS could be giving us IT pros the shaft yet again, but I'd at least like to give them the benefit of the doubt and ask if there's some other new way to control this in IE 11, or it just got overlooked and a fix is coming? I have numerous third party sites my users need with the older user agent string as well, and I do not want to have to teach them how to use the developer tools in IE, and getting the third party sites to change is a bit out of my scope and control. Can someone shed some light on this situation please? Chrome and Firefox both work fine btw on the above mentioned sites, but not all the third party ones, and some of my management tools such as HP iLO controls NEED the compatibility view to work.

Internet Explorer / GP Central Store Question

I plan on administering Internet Explorer 11 from a domain controller that has Internet Explorer 8. I don't want to upgrade IE 8 on this machine but I do want to update the central store with the latest inetres.admx. From what I gather in  this post it sounds like the new admx file needs to use the newer dll's included with IE 11 to work correctly. Can one simply copy over the new file without upgrading Internet Explorer and expect it to work ?

Control the display of a published webpage

Hi All!!

Quick question here from a noob...

I work in developmental software as a UAT tester. There are several servers that display our content in varrious stages of our testing phase. Dev, Intergration, Test, Stage and Production servers. I am mostly concerned with the content on the Test server but I have to jump to the Int and Dev servers from time to time... the thing is - besides the URL to get to our product portals, they all look alike... It sometimes gets a little confusing if Im jumping back and forth from server to server and I was hoping to find a quick solution to control the display of the portal pages in my browser with out having to request a change of coding (that wont be honored anyway) - soooooo - my question is: is there a way to have IE set a certain look of a page that I can easily tell which server Im on at a glance that wont effect anything except my display and that will presist after I close the browser for that session?

Does that even make sense?

Thanks in advance
T.McT.

F12 tools cause Internet Explorer 11 to not open any sites; blank white page only

0

On Windows 8.1 with Internet Explorer 11, if I open the F12 tools and close IE without closing the F12 tools, the next time I open IE (for any site) it opens to a blank white page and nothing loads. The workaround is to open IE using the "iexplore.exe -extoff" command > turn on the F12 tools > and then close the F12 tools using the 'X' from the F12 tools pane > and then close IE. After this, IE opens all pages fine. Has anyone else seen this behavior with the F12 tools? Is there possibly a hotfix for this?

Internet Explorer ii (64 bit) error message

I just installed IE 11 (64bit) and keep getting a popup error message:

"Object doesn't support property or method ieGetNavigationHistory"

It pops up constantly while I have IE open.  I'm running Windows 7 (64bit) and this didn't happen with IE 9 (64bit).  It is very frustrating, almost to the point to where I will quit using Internet Explorer.
