When the mouse dwells over the image map area of the server-side web page the following occurs: The map coordinates text box appears and flashs at a very high rate; The IE process take more and more memory the longer the dwell time, to a max of about 1.9 giga bytes (I.E. there is a memory leak); The CPU usage spikes during the mouse over dwell period, and remains spiked during the after dwell time catch up period (it seems to use about 100% of 1 cpu, overall cpu load depends on how many CPUs you have); The IE window locks up until the text map coordinates box buffer is cleared (can take up to an hour after moving the mouse away from the image map) (on my computer the ratio is about 1 to 1, meaning for every second of dwell time, it will take a second with the mouse NOT over the diagram for the text buffer to be exhausted. I.E. one minute of dwell time creates two minutes of text messages).
 
As far as I know this issue only occurs with IE9. On previous versions of Internet Explorer server-side image maps always worked fine.
 
This issue has been found on 3 computers so far: Two windows Vista 32 bit and one Windows 7 32 bit. However, it worked fine on a friends windows 7 64 bit computer.
 
I wrote some web notes with more detail including a link to a screen shot showing memory and CPU usage
I also have an example server-side image map web page.

I have searched and searched and not found anything about this issue anywhere (which is maybe just because I didn't find it)
 
All computers tested were current with windows updates.

Originally, I posted this issue elsewhere, and was referred to here as possibly a better place for it.

I guess I don't really have a question. I am just trying to help by pointing out something that doesn't seem to be working properly. The question might be: Is Microsoft aware of this issue? and when might it be fixed?

Hi folks,

If I wanted to make IE redownload the proxy.pac, what do I need to do? Is there a flag that can be set to expire it? Or Is it a case if deleting the cache?

Hello everybody,

I have a Win7 64 bit laptop and IE 11.0.9600.16476, when IE is not maximazed the vertical scroll bar doesn't  anchor to the right but is about a centimeter moved to the left, with a black bar on its right.

Moreover since I installed IE11 Windows is less stable, also showing the blue screen, In most cases this happens while using Visual Studio Web Developer 2010 or 2013 using IE.

This is really frustrating, and I'm thinking about switching to IE10 again.

Any suggestions?

The message is a waste of my screen real estate. Yes, Protected mode is turned off. Sure it is, I turned it off myself, and it will stay off. Now how do I disable this annoying nag message?

Also the messages about File Downloads. Never once in my life I clicked a download link by mistake. Yes, I'm clicking that dang URL, because I wan't to download that dang file, now get out my way, annoying warning message. How do I disable this one too? Thank you in advance

I have an IIS web server running on a Windows 2012 server. Using ajax and some JQuery I am trying to upload a form that has a file and some data. My web server does have NTLM authentication setup. When the data is sent the web server and the browser communicate for authentication and after that is completed the browser hangs when trying to send the POST data.  The Content-Length has a value of 475 but there is not anything that follows the header. The communication never errors or ends just a hangs. On older verions of IE, I have no issues and have no add-ons installed.

Just upgraded from IE9

Since the upgrade every new tab or page generates a script error:

Error: Unable to get property 'style' of undefined or null reference

I have :

reset internet explorer, disabled all addins, run as administrator

Any other ideas?

recently every time IE opens I get this nuisance below popup at the bottom of the screen saying "..it blocked something, show content".

Anybody knows how to get rid of it?

I've recently upgraded my MacBook Air to OS X (ver 10.9.1). I attempt to login to work through RDP (8.0.24) but I get disconnected after 4-6 minutes. I then have to close RDP and our Cisco VPN (2.5.3055) to restart the connection.

Any thoughts?

IE9 won't open a lot of pages.  It just opens a new tab that is a blank screen and a empty tab title.  The extension types all vary.  However, if I cut and paste the link in a new tab it will work.  I already tried to down grade the version to 8, but it says its unsupported by windows 7 64 bit, funny I started with 8...

My web page has an iframe in it...

How do I access content in it from the Console of the F12 Developer Tools?  All commands seem to run in the context of the top window, and I cannot find a way to interact with the content of the iframe.

I cannot get any google related websites to load in IE or Chrome. All other websites load with no problem. I actually bought a new used computer to solve this problem after trying many other possible solutions, I have had the computer 2 days and have not downloaded anything on it other than updates and I am having the exact same issue. Either the browser displays a cannot load this page error or its rerouted to time-warner search page which I have disabled but it keeps coming up, but still wont let me load anything related to google. youtube. google search. chrome download page.gmail. etc....some one please help.  On the other computer I flushed the DNS Host files, ran every virus scan known to man, reset all personal IE settings, etc. On this new one I have dont everything listed above except DNS flush. I find it very odd that it would be the same issue with two separate computers

Using Windows XP with IE7, I was able to remove the address bar using the following registry mod.

open Regedit, drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\CLSID\{01E0458 1-4EEE-11d0-BFE9-00AA005B4383}, and edit the clsid by inserting a minus sign in front of it, so it looks like so:

-{01E04581-4EEE-11D0-BFE9-00AA005B4383}

This removed the address bar only.  The nav buttons, home button and printer buttons were still available.  This is perfect for the Kiosk that we are running.  However, we have upgraded our systems to Win 7 and IE9.  When I make this change it has no affect.  Is there anther registry key that I can "switch off" to remove the address bar only?  And no, I don't want to run it in Kiosk mode due to removal of all nav buttons, home button and the printer button.  We have clientel that consists of many elderly so I would like to keep those buttons for them since keystrokes may be a little confusing.

Hi All,

I am trying to download code from online svn repository, when I am passing the credentials following is the error.

Bad credentials or browser doesn't know how to supply credentials.

I have added the site to local trusted sites and cleared the saved passwords, But no luck.

I tried in IE 8 and 11.

Please let me know your suggestions.

I a trying to watch videos from pbs.org on a Windows Surface Pro with Windows 8.1 they play in Firefox but not in IE 11 it uses th JW Play 6.6.392 any help I had allways been able to before not sure what changed IE 11 or PBS

I have a wordpress plugin that runs wp_update_post when the user goes to a page, then on the second load the page displays the updated content. On the page are div elements with the styling display:none that are generated by php. Now when I am using Internet Explore and the page load the second time, the elements do not have the styling display:none it is not in the source. if I use firefox to load the page the display none is properly in the html source. If i load with ie even if i switch to firefox the elements are then stuck on the page no matter what. However if i use firefox to load the page the elements have display none correctly even if i switch to internet explorer. If I force them to display none using javascript, they are invisible, but display none does not show up as part of the divs style attribute. And when display block is called they do not reappear. My question is, is this something caused by internet explorer that i cannot fix somehow? will this display none setting later be fixed by internet explorer? or will i have to find some way to work around the problem thanks*edit

*edit it looks like google chrome also does this. also onmouseover is removed from all of the elements that are generated by php

the element vanishes from the source code entirely oddly though iuf firefox is used to load the page the very first time before any other browser does the code works fine in firefox internet explorer and google chrome, but if chrome or ie are used first it fails in all three browsers

Hello I just installed windows 7 on my pc and would like to update my system and use the internet.  I see the error that i need to update my internet explorer drivers when i attempt to use the internet.  How or what should i download to access my broadband that is plugged into my pc using my new mobo?  Can i download a driver then install on my pc? I have an ASUS M5A97 with Windows 7 pro installed.  I also have my product key but cannot register as i cannot connect to the internet.

Dear All,

I have domain controller OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 and i've created group policy. There are number of PC joined this domain. Now when the user logged in to this computer, the group policy is not applied specially for Internet explorer. Kindly advise.

Geo Detection services are coming up several miles away from the user in these three browsers. In one instance over 100 miles away. This is not an issue in FireFox or Chrome. Why is the geo detection service displaying like this and is a solution in the works or is this issue going to persist?
