PAC file testing under Internet Explorer 10.

Hi folks,

Has support for the EnableAutoProxyResultCache registry entry outlined inthis support article ceased to be supported as of IE10? The fact IE10 isn't listed in the "applies to" section would indicate so, but I just want to double-check.

I need to do some testing of an auto-configuration script and cannot for the life of me get IE10 to request the PAC file for each new request. The problem I have is if the above method is no longer supported, I'm not sure what options I have as I'm not having a lot of luck searching for an alternative applicable to IE10 and later.

Cheers,
Lain

IE8 or IE10 not caching (downloading .xsl file into Internet temporary files folder) when in VPN

Hi,

We have a third party web application (ASP) that when it is being accessed internally (within corp network), it works fine with IE8 or IE10 with Compatibility view.  However, when we access the web application via VPN, we are getting an "Internal Error: Unhandled error loading XML document (file) ../taskmanager/task-manager_preformat_email.xsl, error:System error -2146697189".  After digging and troubleshooting, I found out that this .xsl file is supposed to be downloaded to the C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files folder.  However, it doesn't when in VPN. I tried to change some settings in IE and registry as well but no success.

Anyone has idea?

Thanks.

IE 11 with Languagpack deployment

Hello,

maybe someone had this problem before :

At the Moment we have IE 9 with multiple languagepacks installed and we want to deploy IE11.

From the IE11_main.log  I got ,  that during the IE11 setup several languagepacks and spellingPacks ( the ones that we got in IE 9 )  are directly downloaded from Microsoft.

I couldnt find any Option to disable the automatic microsoft downloads, but i want to install the languagepacks afterwards from our internal sources. Our script will deploy a few hundreds computers and we dont want to download 20 languagepacks for every Computer from microsoft servers.

I tried it with the IEAK 11 , but the problem is the same, we just get several installers for the languages, but other languagepacks are still downloaded from Microsoft.

Thank you in advance for a your help

Marc

Switching between multiple Java versions

We frequently visit state websites to use their Java based permitting sites and are wondering if it is possible to set IE to switch between which Java version is used. Certain sites require older versions of Java to function, while others require newer ones. We can have both versions installed, however IE seems to use the latest version automatically, so we end up uninstalling it when we need to download a permit on the site that requires the older version.

If there is an easy way to tell IE which version to use, please let us know. Thanks!!

IE 11, Display Mixed Content set as Enabled, still popup comes every time.it does not on IE 9.

I am using IE 11 .

When i am trying to connect Intranet site built on Office online in IE11, I am getting the Display mixed Content error.

it is not coming in IE9.

Please find my setting in below image.

Display Mixed Content Setting

FYI. Sharpoint URL is HTTPS

There is one SIlverlight webpart, which consumes yahoo weather services to display weather on home page.

this yahoo weather service is "http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?w=XXXXXX&u=f".

I believe that because of this non HTTPS url, I am getting this popup, but my question is, the settings are there to override this behavior and  it is doing exactly the same in IE9, but not in IE11.

Can some one please help, as this is very annoying for the end users.

Internet Explorer 11 Bad Request 400

I have looked at all the help online for this issue and I've tried them. However, it's not fixing the issue. I can only open up google, but if I go to any other site it always says bad request. How do I fix this?

IE 11 Stops working at sign-ins

A friend has a Windows 7 laptop that has IE 11 installed. Windows Update installed Bing Desktop and ever since then, the browser "has stopped working." This ONLY happens on sites with input forms, such as sign-in pages. They cannot log-in to anything, examples being ebay and Netflix. Online e-mail works, but only because login info is saved and not required at each visit. Other sites, which do not require input, work fine.

The Bing Desktop program has been uninstalled, IE has been fully reset and the problem hasn't been resolved. I suggested installing Chrome, but the owner doesn't want to make any such changes.

I've been googling this problem, but haven't found any exact matches. I'm thinking there's a corrupted file or registry entry, but I haven't had the time to track it down. Would an uninstall/reinstall of IE11 fix this, or is there a hotfix I can download, take over there and run?

Hello and thank you for your time and assistance.

I have gone through many posts regarding this issue and cannot seem to resolve it. I ran SFC and SUR and I even renamed the SoftwareDistribution folder to .old. I have also tired manually installing ie10 and ie11 just to name a few. Here are the results of my ie10_main log and the SUR Log. The CBS log file is quite lengthy but can provide that as well if needed.

IE9 menu Bar malfunction

My IE9 windows are becoming confused, and I find that 2 menu bars are displayed, but only the lower bar works. There is a gap between the two bars, and in that gap you can see other menus (eg on the Google page it shows their menu for Web, Images ...). The problem is that you cannot get to the top of the "page" as it lies up underneath the confused set of menu bars (see image).

Internet Explorer 11 Compatibility View & Group Policy

$

ok so I last week deployed Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013, thinking my recent additions to my domain group policy that add the CRM server to the IE Compatibility View list (registry key: HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\BrowserEmulation\PolicyList ), fixed the problem of the CRM server showing the MOBILE version of the CRM site because it doesn't like the user agent string in IE11. Much like it has fixed this for a bunch of other sites I have in that registry key that don't work in IE11. Well I come to find out today, that, IE 11 apparently no longer supports this and an update to it has broken this functionality somehow. Specifcally I see that clearing the browser History removes all the entries that are in the Compatibility View list, and my group policy preference doesn't seem to get applied any longer either. I have read that there's apparently a new binary string in a similar location that stores this, however that doesn't let me add & remove entries at will using group policy, nor does it prevent the user from clearing them out unintentionally by clearing their history, or resetting IE which we often due because its so fragile. Outlook Web access also shows the basic view rather than the premium view in IE 11, this I see there's at least a new update rollup available thats supposed to fix it, but with recent Exchange update rollup failure I'm reluctant to install them for awhile after they're released and that requires scheduled maintenance etc. That is not a fix. A fix is putting the Compatibility View settings back the way they were and letting us admins administer our networks like we were able to. Not only all this, but now you can't even add a sub-domain to compatibility view as it gets truncated to the WHOLE domain regardless. And according to this : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn321449.aspx?ppud=4 - even THAT is going away. WTF.

I dont have a hard time believing MS could be giving us IT pros the shaft yet again, but I'd at least like to give them the benefit of the doubt and ask if there's some other new way to control this in IE 11, or it just got overlooked and a fix is coming? I have numerous third party sites my users need with the older user agent string as well, and I do not want to have to teach them how to use the developer tools in IE, and getting the third party sites to change is a bit out of my scope and control. Can someone shed some light on this situation please? Chrome and Firefox both work fine btw on the above mentioned sites, but not all the third party ones, and some of my management tools such as HP iLO controls NEED the compatibility view to work.

Switching between multiple Java versions

We would like to be able to switch between Java version for web applications in Internet Explorer 10. Is there a way to do that?

Currently, we are specifically interested in 1.6.0_23 and 1.7.0_45

Other threads on this subject have been sparse and not helpful. 8-)

Thanks.

Set Ctrl + 0 to Always Set the Zoom to %100, Rather Than Changing Depending on the Current Display Resolution

When I'm using Internet Explorer 11 on my Windows 8.1 Computer, the Default Zoom level is always set to 125% and it really annoys me. Luckily, my eyes are very good so I have my System Text set to small so I can see more at once. Whenever I open aIE11 Window on my laptops 1920x1080px display the window is zoomedto 125% I can manually set the window to 100% but if I hit Ctrl + 0, the Window is set back to 125% rather than 100% like in other browsers. If I movethe Window over to my 1280x1024px display then the window automatically zooms to 80% but the Ctrl + 0 level is set to 100%. THISDRIVES ME INSANE. I realize that the scaling down from 100% to 80% when moving to thesmaller monitor is to keep the text size consistent. This I am okay with. BUT I WANT Ctrl + 0 to always set the Zoom to 100%. How can I do this? I don't mind editing the registry so long as it gets the job done.

IE11 breaks outlook preview window?

Been using Win7 and Office 2013.  Since installing IE11 my outlook preview pane no longer renders html email correctly. It used to be possible to right click and select "download images" if you wanted, but that is gone and the images just don't render. Only option is to view the email in web browser.

What a hassle!  Anyone else run into this?

IE10 wont allow me to open FTP files in Explorer View

$

0
I have an FTP internally that is used to host PDF & HTML files. Previously all users could log onto this FTP site and double click on any file content to have it open within the default browser. We use FTP in explorer view so each user can set their terminals to save their passwords, hence they log straight into their root folder on the FTP - if we use the FTP list view in the browser this doesnt happen, meaning user 9999 has a long way to scroll to find their documents!
This has always worked absolutely fine until IE10 has been installed, now any user with IE10 cant open files straight from the FTP via the Explorer view. The file doesnt download, the destination file ends up at 0KB so just doesnt open in the browser. Roll back to IE9 fixes the problem. Using Chrome as the default browser fixes the problem. Using the FTP list view also works fine (however we cant use this since it wont default to users root folder that they have access to)
Ive attempted everything i can think of without luck, its looking like we're going to have to block IE10 or switch to Chrome. Basically opening files from any FTP site (have tested others) in explorer view with IE10 installed just isnt working. You can however copy the document to the local machine then open ok..
Any ideas, what am i missing here!?
Cheers!!!

Internet Explorer display blank page

Hi all,

I have IE10 x64 and Win 7 x64 + SP1, but my IE cannot open any page. I mean, when I type any URL in IE, loads and then display an blank page to me. The title is blank, the page is blank. All the other application that use a embedded explorer control also displays nothing.

  • Click settings icon: The "About Internet Explorer" is gray. Many other menus are gray (such as "Print" and "Save as").
  • Right click on the blank page,  no context menu displayed.
  • Tried to run IE without extension, the issue.
  • disabled GPU rendering won't fix the issue.
  • uninstall then re-install won't fix the issue.
  • run "sfc /scannow", say nothing goes wrong.
  • Google chrome works properly.

UPDATE:

Press alt to call out menu bars, most of the menu items doesn't work, except those in the View menu. (View source doesn't work, either.)

ENVIRONMENT:

IE version: 10.0.9200

Windows 7 (6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1)

Display Card: nVidia GTS 450

Blank page

UPDATE: Uninstalled IE 10, IE 9 still displaying blank pages. It might be something wrong with the system. Ho can tell me how to fix?

UPDATE2: Do iediagcmd.exe then regsvr32 on some dlls, then re-install IE 10, now menus are recovered, local files can be properly displayed on IE if launched with. But if I start IE then tried to load pages, not working; loading a remote HTML page is still broken.

UPDATE3: IE 11 still not working.

UPDATE4:

A new upgrade install of Windows 7 (with SP1) solves this issue. There might be registry error.
