Hi,
I have a problem with the "Always ask before opening this type of file" function in Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 8.1.
The problem is; when the Citrix receiver from Windows store is configured to open ICA files and we log into a webinterface or storefront server in IE, users is prompted to either Open, Save or Cancel the ica file. I am not able to uncheck the "Always ask before opening this type of file" after downloading the file. I can do thios on other file types like 7z Files. For me it seems like Windows have a whitelist of safe files, and .ica is not one of them.
Is there a way to be able to have .ica files to open auto, without the plugin in IE?
I have a web application which is not Edge compatible & when launched in IE11 displays badly formatted and skewed text. I've found manually adding the site URL to Compatibility View Settings resolved the messy text issue and I know through use of EMSL we can force sites to open in IE11 even when attempting to browse with Edge.
I need to have it set so that the site URL is automatically applied to all users in Compatibility View by default so that they don't have to manually add it themselves. My understanding is that Compatibility View is an emulation of legacy IE8 settings. I know that the EMSL is recognising our site correctly because it forces opening in Edge - so we know its being picked up, but I've tried setting the URL in an EMSL to IE7 & IE8 compatibility mode, but the text issue still persists.
Can someone please help with automatically applying Compatibility View for users for this site? Below is an example of what I've tried. The website is in the format "hostservername:portnumber"; I've tried just the host server name without the port just in case and it makes no difference. Below is my .xml code for EMSL - I've tried both "IE8" & "IE8Enterprise" but it makes no difference:
<site-list version="1"><created-by>
<tool>EMIESiteListManager</tool>
<version>10.0.14357.1004</version>
<date-created>01/01/2017 01:01:01</date-created>
</created-by>
<site url="hostservername:port">
<compat-mode>IE8Enterprise</compat-mode> *Also tried IE8 on its own but makes no difference*
<open-in>IE11</open-in>
</site>
Hello,
I have this problem with IE11, but works fine with IE9

My webshop is marked as unsafe (phishing which is not true) in Microsoft Edge, if switch to IE and run Smart Screen security check it says all safe. And strangely only on one of my computers and therefore didn't bother much but also a customer complained about it today. My site is 4x4offroad.se
Anyone experienced this before and have a solution?
Is there a way to check why a site is marked as unsafe by smartscreen?
I use the following Powershell code to configure the IE Home Pages:
## Set Internet Explorer Home Pages in registry Write-Verbose "Setting Internet Explorer Home Pages" $HPKey = "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\main" $URL1 = "http://www.williamblair.com" $URL2 = "http://www.wbremote.com" Start-Process iexplore.exe Stop-Process -ProcessName iexplore Set-ItemProperty -Path $HPKey -Name "Start Page" -Value $URL1 Set-ItemProperty -Path $HPKey -Name "Secondary Start Pages" -Value $URL2
Everything gets set correctly, but when i first start IE, I get extra tabs that open up with strange Chinese characters in them in addition to the home pages I select.
Anyone have any ideas why this happens?

This is our situation:
OS: Windows 10 Build 1803
Domain Controllers: Window 2008
We are trying to set the following key to the value of 3:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\4\1A10
We are also setting IE settings via preferences.
We find that no matter what order we apply the registry key, it always gets overwritten.
Here s a prcocmon capture
Using the display XML option of the Internet Explorer preferences I found that the registry is being set within the preference to 1.
I have tried exporting the GPO as a backup, editing it to change that reg key to 3, and re-importing it but every time i re-import it, it changes back.
Does any one have any suggestions on how to get around this please or how to fix this?

I successfully use Enterprise mode for managing Intranet sites.
As known Enterprise mode is intended for Intranet sites.
Would it manage non Intranet - Public sites?
Thanks.

I just installed IE9 (public release), and I'm seeing a pop-up at the bottom of the browser window that states:
"The 'Virtual Storage Mount Notification' add-on from 'EldoS Corporation' is ready for use."
Does anyone know what this is exactly?
