Microsoft Update Catalog problems
Is anyone else having problems clicking on the browse button after being UAC'd when attempting to download a file from the Catalog?
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/DownloadInformation.aspx
In addition, even if UAC works, I get a cryptic proxy prompt asking me to enter my credentials to the "proxy-server."
I can't be the only one experience this. This is with Internet Explorer 8.x.
Group Policy "Deny all add-ons unless specifically allowed in the Add-on List" breaks Skype Click-to-Call and other things
Hi everybody,
we are trying to implement a whitelist for IE Add-ons via GPO. So we filled the Add-On list with all the CLSIDs we need.
To improve security we would also like to set the "Deny all add-ons unless specifically allowed in the Add-on List" option to prevent users from installing toolbars or other shady stuff. Unfortunately, this seems to break some things like"Click-to-Call" even tough all corresponding Add-Ons are activated via the whitelist. We also have another web application that generates a PDF file when clicking on a specific button. That also does not work anymore (nothing happens when clicking the button).
Internet Explorer version is 11 with latest patches on Windows 10 1709 (1803 shows the same behavior). Haven't tested other Windows versions yet.
I hope you guys can help.
Thanks in advance,
MBTN
Safety certificate confirmation
Dear everyone who is reading this,
At work we'll be using a new administrationprogram in the future. To use this program I've been importing/installing the certificate which we need to use it. When I go to the website the browser asks me to confirm the usage of the certificate. It does this every single session. Is there a way to confirm this just once so the window won't pop-up again?
Thank you in advance!
Kind regards,
Bas van Winkel
Downloaded Internet Explorer, but can't find it on my computer
I've Tried Everything. No Video's On IE-11
I upgraded to IE-11 from IE-8 last week. I don't regularly use IE, but software I use to daytrade with is based on IE. The did a major upgrade and I had to update to IE-11 for their software to work. Everything works fine, except for their CNBC stream. Its an embedded Flash-Player. But its not just this. No videos play at all Youtube, videos on websites... none of them.
Let me start by saying I have tried everything. Flash is current and enabled. Windows is all up to date. The ActiveX filter is off. I have gone through and tried every possible combination of the ActiveX settings and every other setting in IE both under the"advanced" tab and the "programs/manage add ons" settings.
And... when I go to Adobe's test page.... the little animated screen that has a tree growing with clouds floating by works fine. So apparently Flash is working fine, at least on Adobes site. https://forums.adobe.com/external-link.jspa?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhelpx.adobe.com%2Fflash-player.html
But on top of that I have done a "clean flash uninstall" where you run Adobe's on-line cleaner and then go in and manually delete files; followed up with a fresh install. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
Firefox and Chrome..... no problems at all.
This is the error on YouTube: "An error occurred, please try again later"
This is the error on MSN's Homepage videos when I try to play them: We're sorry, an error has occurred when playing video (video format is not supported).

How do you enable event logging for Internet Explorer in Windows 10, and how can I verify that it is enabled?
Please see the title - two parts, but this is my only question. I do not need help resetting IE, or troubleshooting IE - I want to enable IE event logging, and I am looking for a step by step guide to doing this. It seems as though I have
it enabled, but the log has zero entries.
This thread has the same question, and some genius marked it answered, although it should be pretty obvious to anyone with the ability to read and comprehend written English language that the question was not answered, and in fact, the person who asked the question was completely ignored after the initial answer (which I do not for a minute believe was even close to the right answer): https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/bfecbfd3-ffc8-4279-a006-64a1cd248621/can-we-get-windows-event-logging-with-internet-explorer-10-and-windows-8?forum=ieitprocurrentver
If you look, you will see that the log exists in Windows 10, and at least on the machine I am on, the properties say enabled (although that is greyed out and cannot be altered). The way I see it there are a couple of possibilities here:
1) Logging is a relic that doesn't actually work and for whatever reason was never removed from the code tree.
2) Logging is not enabled despite what the properties sheet says.
3) Logging is enabled, but I have no way to verify it because it will not log any events.
Please help me (and a bunch of other poor souls who have asked this question on multiple forums) figure this out.
Thank you!
Proxy pack file not working with Internet Explorer, but works with chrome and firefox
I have finally finished writing a pac file, however, it does not work with Internet Explorer. Chrome and Firefox works fine. I have already cleared the cache, set AutoConfigURL registry key to use the pathway to the pac file, EnableUtoproxyResutCache has been set to 0, and ProxyServer registry key has been set to the correct proxy server.
Also under group policy Management Editor>under user configuration>preferences>control panel setting>internet explorer, I have create internet settings to use the proxy.pac file.
any other option that I need to set it in IE11, for the proxy.pac file to take effect.
Why my internet explorer11 is restarted again, again, and again?
I exchanged 64g ssd to 128g ssd of my dell venue, and migrate window10 and all data to new ssd. Everything is O.K. but only explorer is restarted again, again, and again....I have no idea what's wrong.
1. I can't handle it, because exploere11 is just restarted....infinite loop, so, I use other web browser, but sometimes I have to use exploer. Please let me know how to fix this problem.
2. Another option, maybe I can unistall explorer and reinstall it, but I can't find install package of explorer 11.
Waiting for reply, Thanks.
Office outlook website addon
Hi All ,

Internet Explorer 11 constantly causes screen flickering with Windows 8.1
Microsoft SSRS 2012 RSClientPrint ActiveX component doesn't install/run within IE 11
All,
We are running into an issue, where we see that the "print" button as available on the Microsoft Reporting Server site does not work on our Windows 7/8.1 systems. When pressing the button, a popup appears with the message "Printing is not available. Verify that ActiveX is enabled, or try using Internet Explorer for the desktop."
I have added the site to trusted sites, and allowed download and run of signed ActiveX controls, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155874(v=sql.110).aspx ).
I have configured the ActiveX Installer service, as described here (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631688(v=ws.10).aspx). After that action I see in the eventlog the following:
The ActiveX control http://server/Reports/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?ReportSession=ao4hl1rhljvuac45oppnij55&Culture=1043&CultureOverrides=False&UICulture=9&UICultureOverrides=False&ReportStack=1&ControlID=e667391f2e7b4fa48db718cdfe60e61c&OpType=PrintCab&Arch=X86 from host URL http://mesbrouwen passed all policy checks.
....seems like the ActiveX object is marked as "ok"... but even then the file is not installed. Looking at a Process Monitor dump, I see the cab-file (RSClientPrint-x86.cab) is downloaded, but never reaches "Windows\Downloaded Program Files".
I would like to avoid having to deploy the component using a package. Does anyone have an idea? (googling around didn't provide me any answers that work for me -> which where the options mentioned above)
Help is greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Sjoerd
Switching user machine browser to automatically detect settings from use automatic configuration script
We are having issues when users working offsite via VPN the browser proxy settings is on "use automatic configuration script" connecting to cloud proxy. If user connects to office corporate network the browser should switch to "automatic detect settings" on DHCP IP and proxy address. In our case auto switch does not work. The user has to manually switch from "use automatic configuration script" to "automatic detect settings"

Windows 10/IE 11 future?
Hi all. I'm aware that Edge is the preferred built-in browser in Win 10. But 3 years after Win 10 release I still see IE 11 kicking around. I know there are ways to remove it or use GP to disable its use, but I'm not looking to do that. Just curious, is there a plan to remove it permanently from Win 10 builds eventually? As of build 1809 it's still there.
Also, more importantly, I have to assume so, but is it still receiving security updates? I realize to keep IE in there, MS is obviously patching it. But at times an entirely new version of something is needed, which
has been redesigned from the ground up (for better security, or what not). Since IE 11 is still version 11 after all these years, I have to wonder if it isfundamentally flawed at this point. Or could we say IE 11 is as secure as Edge, if we rule out zero-day exploits for either and Win 10 is fully patched?
Thanks!
