Is there a fix to the IE10 issue on Windows 7 (sharepoint 2010, your client does not support opening this list with windows explorer)?

On a computer that's running Windows 7 (x64 in my case) with Internet Explorer 10, when you click "Open with Explorer" in Microsoft SharePoint 2010, you receive the following error message:  "Your client does not support opening this list with Windows Explorer."

The website in question has been added to the IE10 Trusted Sites list.

The server is configured properly in that this functionality works in IE9 and below on Windows 7 and for IE10 on Windows 8.  (I've not yet applied the June 2013 cumulative update for SharePoint, however.  But I'd really like to see an IE10 patch in that we need to access document libraries in other SharePoint 2010 servers that we do not manage.)

According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2835527/en-us this is also a known problem for SharePoint Online and per that KB article, "Microsoft is working to resolve the issue."  However, that KB article was published a number of months ago.

Has this issue been resolved?  If not, is there a hotfix that can be applied to IE10 pending a service pack release?  And, what is the timeline for the fix?

Printer Properties box freezes when printing a pdf from IE10...

Hello --

I have a clean install of Win7 Professional (32-bit).. installed Adobe Reader 9.. installed Win7 SP1 and all necessary and recommended updates.. updated Reader to v9.5.5 (this is the only/latest version supported by some of our company software).. There is nothing else installed on this machine.

The problem: When I open IE10, click on a pdf link (the pdf displays properly in the browser), click the Print icon in the upper-left, click Properties in the Print dialog, the Properties dialog comes up and then freezes.  The tabs, buttons, and mouse pointer graphically change, but clicking does nothing.  Clicking the underlying Print dialog box makes the Properties box flash, so it's not totally locked, but just unresponsive to clicks.  The only way to close the dialog box is to stop the iexplore process in taskmgr.  This happens with any printer selected (tested on local and network printers, and even MS XPS Doc Writer, and Fax).

I can save the pdf and print from Reader directly with no problem, and I understand that I can deselect "Display pdfs in browser" in Reader options, however, those workarounds won't satisfy the users.

I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this or how to proceed further in troubleshooting this..  Can anyone lend a hand please?

Thanks.

Internet Explorer 10 isn't redirecting Favorites (Group Policy)

I have a farm of computers, both XP and 7, that are being controlled through the following Group Policy:

User Config > Policies > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection > Favorites

The Path I am using is the UNC Path: \\Servername\dir\%USERNAME%\Favorites

The favorites are redirected correctly on XP computers and Windows 7 computers running IE9 and below. However, the main problem is with computers running IE10. IE10 isn't pulling the favorites from the home drive, it instead uses the Local Disc's favorites.

If anyone has any advice or ideas, let me know.

Thanks,

Spell Checker Flaws

Hello,

Thank you for opting to read this.

Please read the following in chronological and proper order so that you can completely understand what I want to convey.

Microsoft has included the advanced spell checker in the recent version of Internet Explorer.

I duly appreciate this spell checker and its features.

Now, I won't deny that it can be said to be one of the best spell checkers.

One of the special features is the auto correct which will correct minor spelling mistakes like an extra or missing letter which is excellent.

Consider two examples:

Note that the gaps are given else IE will correct the word.

Ignore the .exe part, I just added it so it does not detect it as incorrect.

The word w r o t e e.exe will be corrected to wrote.

This is in the case of small length words.

Conceptually,

Ignore .exe again.

abdce.exe will be corrected to abcde.exe but a long word will not. This is in the case of certain long words( I cannot think of any examples currently).

Secondly, technical words are marked as incorrect spelling.

For example the word trouble shooter is detected wrong and I have to write it like this in separate words.

Thirdly, this is what I just noticed that on adding an exe or another file extension, even wrong words are detected as correct which is perfectly fine as they are file names. But when the word after which the extension is added is pretty long then the spell checker does not accept it as a file name. Or, if the extension is added first and then the word or the extension is added after moving the text cursor from the word, then the same happens( spell checker does not accept it).

Fourthly,  another one that I just noticed while typing this, first letter capitalization( an important aspect of such high- end spell checkers) is not included.

What I want to know is, is there a way I can correct this( by making any changes if possible in the spell checker. I think this will need a highly skilled technician) or is it something that I can expect from Microsoft in latter versions of Internet Explorer?

Thank you for reading this and I hope someone can help me out.

How to set Intranet Sites now IE10 Internet Explorer Maintenance has been deprecated

$

I know there are a couple of other posts on this elsewhere but no-one seems to have a solution.

We used Internet Explorer Maintenance to add our internal Sharepoint sites to the intranet zone so users had a consistent experience even when out of the office and weren't consistently being asked for their passwords.

I would like to do the same with IE10 users but that setting no longer applies. I went to use the new Group Policy Preference but the Sites button is greyed out so I can't add them in there.

I have also tried User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page > Site to Zone Assignment List and adding the sites in there (e.g. mysite.mydomain.com with a value of 1) but that doesn't work either.

Has anyone got a clear, definitive answer how we are now supposed to do this with IE10?

Internet Explorer Will not allow input on some web pages, reboot fixes problem temporarily

Hello,

I have something weird happening that I'm hoping someone else will know the solution to.  I've been running Windows 8 Enterprise on my home computer for about 9 months with Internet Explorer 10. At first, Internet Explorer worked flawlessly and I was very happy to see a smooth running browser on the first release.  I'm not sure exactly when it started, but a couple of times a week, Internet Explorer just stops allowing input ON ONLY SOME WEB PAGES (i.e. logmein.com, technet.com, and others). Basically, the page comes up, but I can't click on any link or type any data into any of the fields.  I can use the tab key to move to an input field like username, but typing does nothing.  I've tried going into F12 and playing with the compatibility modes, but none of them fix the problem.  Other pages continue working fine and I can click on links and input to my hearts delight.  Usually a reboot fixes this problem, but that is just irritating so I loaded Chrome onto the system.  Any ideas on a fix or why this is happening?

Thanks,

Jeffery Smith

Hello All,

I've got a weird situation here...I have a 32bit win7 enterprise machine that will not open any links in the body of Outlook.  it will open up just fine if i click on a link from Word.  If i set Chrome as the default browser, that works as well.  I need IE to be the default because most of the business apps work in IE.

I've uninstalled IE by going into Windows Features and removing it, rebooting, adding it back and rebooted. Same issue.

Set IE as default browser. same issue

upgraded from IE 8 to IE 9, same issue

Ran repair on Office, same issue.

removed Office, and then ran a office 2010 removal program. rebooted, loaded office back and tried, same issue.

Tried various different registry changes, same issue.

Any help to get to a resolution would be Greatly appreciated.

Side note... i did do a little hack that may have caused this whole issue....Upgraded Windows 7 Pro sp1 to Windows 7 Ent sp1. seems like since then links do not work when clicking on them from outlook.  BUT this is not my machine and im not sure what the user may have done between doing that upgrade and this issue.  everything else works just fine! and we have numerous other machines we did this upgrade to and they do not have this issue!

HELP!  Thanks

Will

Issue with Internet Explorer Auto-Refreshing page eating System RAM

$

Hello,

I am not a web developer by any means, but I am experiencing an issue with a monitoring application which I access via Internet Explorer. All that happens is that the browser is auto-refreshed every 5 seconds. However, when I check my processes in task manager, I can see that slowly the RAM climbs and climbs. CPU resources remain low, but system memory keeps climbing until the page fails and will not refresh anymore.

When I close the browser the memory usage returns to 0, but I can see it steadily climb if I open it again.

Is there any solution to this where I can somehow regulate the page to dump data or anything of the sort?

Switching from XP/IE8 to Win7/IE9 did not do the trick, so I am looking for alternate solutions.

I know that the problem description is vague, but I appreciate any suggestions that any one has to offer.

Thank you,

IE 10 won't load content into new tabs opened by links

$

I've recently 'upgraded' to IE 10 on multiple computers, differing manufacturers, both 32 and 64 bit all running Win 7 (home or pro), AND, I'm experiencing the same exact problem on all of them.

When I click on a link in say Gmail, or facebook, and the usual action would be to have the browser automatically open a new tab and display the content, now nothing happens. The tab opens (in the case of gmail 3 tabs open) with the same URL displayed as the original page, but it is utterly blank. And there it sits. No 404, not message, just blank. Right clicking on a link to choose to open in a new tab has the same result. If I paste an URL in the new tab it opens just fine.

It is the process of opening the tab and displaying the content from a link that fails. This is a deal breaker as it makes the experience so tedious as to be unusable.

I've never experienced this before, not even with the IE10 preview. The fact that I'm experiencing it on multiple non-identical computers makes me suspicious. I see others have experienced this in IE 9 and from what I can see there is no solution except to switch to chrome.

Anyone have any ideas?
