Since the latest update to Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (KB3148198), my users experience the following message (on Win7, Win 8.1 and Win 10):

Of course, this is disturbing for many of my users, and, what's worse, since we use dynamic local profiles in our company (i.e. the user profile is created from the DEFAULT profile on each and every login), this message shows up after each and every login which normally happens once a day.

My colleagues (and my boss!) have asked me to get rid of this message.

I have monitored what happens in the registry when you choose "Your current settings", it writes quite some strange registry entries (HEX-values) which all have something to do with "SyncHomePage Protected - It is a violation of Windows Policy to modify. See aka.ms/browserpolicy". Windows insiders will know which registry settings I mean.

Specifically, I'm talking about what's written in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\EUPP Protected - It is a violation of Windows Policy to modify. See aka.ms/browserpolicy

and the respective subkeys. Those contain binary values, and I suppose those are user specific, and that's the problem - if they are user-specific, I cannot deploy them to all network computers for all users.

If I export those regkeys and deploy them to users, there will be an error message on the first start of IE, stating that settings had to be reset as they were corrupt.

The default homepage and search providers at our company are set via regkeys (or have been, until now).

Is there any way to still set default search provider and start page in IE 11 WITHOUT users seeing ANY popups? Even for dynamic local users?

I'm not sure if uninstalling KB3148198 is an option, it looks like this update does more than just add this "feature" I don't want, and maybe it's even required in order to get further updates.

So what can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having an issue adding an IP address to trusted sites for all users. I have tried using Google to change the registry for the local machine. I have also tried using gpedit under "Site to Zone Assignment List" and it also doesn't work.

I don't want to use group policy. I would like to do this with regedit.

I am using Windows Server 2008 R2.

My internet explorer has stopped working. On clicking the IE icon the page opens, no address appears and after about 10 seconds the page closes. What can I do?

I have a clean installation of Windows 10.1 enterprise (English).

I try to use Microsoft Edge browser to search a query. All settings are just "default out of the box".

Most queries work ok but if I try a query with a dot then browser thinks I am entering an URL. For example I try searching "xamarin forms 2.0". This ends up with browser attempting to open an URL: "http://xamarin%20forms%202.0/" which obviously fails.

In classic Internet Explorer 11 this problem does not reproduce, only in Edge.

Any idea how to fix that?

Cannot now access my trusted website using IE 11

Using Windows 7 Ultimate, have been accessing my trusted banking site for quite a while now using an older version
of IE (not sure which one though). Upgraded to the latest version of IE
When l now login to that site, their top line says that l have logged in, but the body of their screen now says that an error has occurred!
Uninstalled IE 11 which pushed me back to IE8, and that wasn't any better. Reverted back to IE 11.
Go round to a friends house, use their IE (same version), and l can login perfectly?
The only difference is that they are using Windows 10 and a different ISP.
Any ideas 'cos it's driving me nuts!

Win 7 completely patched and updated, using IE 11. Only when using keyboard (have tried two wired and one wireless) and only typing in browser what is typed changes, if i type for example"tttttt" i get "nomam" address bar typing no issues.

Any other browser works fine as do apps like word and word pad.

I have wiped all and reset browser. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled,

I have checked all keyboard settings, did a complete system scan (webroot internet security)

Upgraded the Bios.

When i remote in or use on-screen keyboard no issues.

any ideas appreciated.
