Just upgraded from IE9

Since the upgrade every new tab or page generates a script error:

Line: 1

Error: Unable to get property 'style' of undefined or null reference

I have :

reset internet explorer, disabled all addins, run as administrator

Any other ideas?

Where did the "Dial whenever a network connection is not present" setting go?

After installing IE 11 my users are complaining that their air cards no longer work.

After doing some investigation it appears that the dial up options on the Connections tab on the Internet Options page are missing.  What happened to these settings?  They are needed to automate air cards.

How can I restore IE 10 after 11 installs?

$

Hello all,

Internet Explorer 11 automatically installed on my computer and now I'm having trouble logging into several sites (notably my online bank site and eBay).  I want to go back to IE 10 or even 9 but haven't found a way to do that.  So far I've tried:

  1. Turning IE 11 off (since you can't uninstall it)
  2. Tried to install IE 10 but it says it's already installed (the same goes for IE 9)
  3. Tried to find the .exe file for 9 or 10 (since it's still installed) but every iexplore.exe opens IE 11 and no other.
  4. My last resort will be to do a complete computer restore to an earlier date before IE 11 was installed.  But I hate to do that.

The error I get on eBay is "If you are seeing this page, your browser settings prevent you for automatically redirecting to a new URL."   I can log in fine with Google Chrome but get nowhere with IE 11.  I’ve tried to find the settings that prevent a page from redirecting but can find nothing, plus IE 11 is totally different from previous versions so have to figure out where the settings even are.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or tips to help me get back to an earlier version of Internet Explorer?  I’m really frustrated with IE all together now and if there is no solution, I’ll just stay with Google Chrome.

Thanks,

Marcine

PerformancePoint Filters Not Working with IE 10

Hi all!

I've got a problem with PerformancePoint filters in IE10.  When I installed IE 10, the filters on our business intelligence dashboard are no longer working.  See the picture below.  When I click on the drop down arrow next to the "Select Broadcast Qtr:" filter, I get a drop down list.  Notice the word "false" peaking out from behind the list of values.  While this list looks like the correct list, there are 2 behaviors that are incorrect.  First, the years do not expand to show the quarters underneath and, second, if I click on 2011, the filter chooses 2012.  It seems to be off by one line.

The filters work in IE 8 and Chrome.  These are PerformancePoint web parts published on a SharePoint BI page.  There are 4 web parts: 3 cascading filters and one report body.  The filters seem to be cascading correctly and the report returns data.  I just can't select the appropriate values.

Thanks in advance for your help!

--> A little more information.  I find that when I click beside the list of values, the years expand correctly.  See the picture below.  When I click where the red x is, it expands the list of quarters.

IE10 locking up desktop

I recently upgraded to IE10 and notice that sometimes IE10 would lock up my desktop where I cannot click on any desktop icons.  When going to the Task Manager, I would see several IE10 processes running.  Sometime more IE10 processes running than what I actually have open.  When I start going down the list of killing the IE10 process, on no particular IE10 process, when killed, my desktop is unlock and all other running IE10 gets killed along as well.

I have not been able to successfully duplicate the error.  It just happens randomly during the day with different applications running.

Internet Explorer 9 -- Temporary Internet Files (Current location and disk space issue)

It will not let me change the amount of disk space for temporary internet files, and it does not show a location for the temporary internet files.

When I try to change the disk space it only lets me go up to 10 MB and pops up an error message that says "please enter a value between 8 and 8"

I don't know how to fix this issue.

Pleae advise, thank you.

Pasting Text Copied from IE11 Crashes Word 2003

Got a question today from a user running Windows 8.1 x64 and Word 2003.

Every time he copies text from Internet Explorer 11, and tries to paste it into Word, Word crashes with this error:

Faulting application name: WINWORD.EXE, version: 11.0.8407.0, time stamp: 0x521bd0da
Faulting module name: AcGenral.DLL, version: 6.3.9600.16441, time stamp: 0x5265e8c9

Faulting application start time: 0x01cee33d1638e205
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\AppPatch\AcGenral.DLL
Report Id: 586c3030-4f30-11e3-825e-1803734ec99c
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

We tried all the typical stuff, such as running the "Detect and Repair" facility, and even went so far as to delete the registry keys for the Word configuration under Office\11.0 to get it to create a new, default set of parameters, but the problem remains.  Compatibility settings do not help either.  There are no add-ons.

At this point he can paste the exact same text from Safari - the problem seems to be isolated to just IE11.

I'm even able to paste text from IE11 into Word 2003 on a Windows 8.1 x64 test setup.

I know Office 2003 is all but obsolete, and he's going to be looking into getting a newer version, but there are some problems with just telling him to "upgrade and be done with it".

Anyone here have any suggestions, short of "uninstall and start over"?  Thanks in advance.

Mighty all,

I know that IE10, which was installed as an optional update via "windows update" can be removed by listing all of the installed updates, right clicking and picking "uninstall".

My question is: is there a way to do the same via a command?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

IE11 Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium - frequent waits

$

IE11 with current Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium 64bit - Yesterday I allowed Windows Update to upgrade IE10 to IE11.  Since that upgrade, when I'm using IE11, my fast desktop PC has MANY frequent little "waits", where the little spinning circle appears on the screen.  I think the spinning circle replaced the old hourglass.  Anyway, when the circle is on the screen, things are frozen.  Even as I type this posting, the keyboard has frozen for a second or two every few seconds.  This NEVER happened with previous versions of IE and it never happens now with Firefox or Chrome.   Reboot does not fix the problem.   Only freezes when IE11 is open.  Freezes/waits also are happening without the circle appearing. What to do?

According to the IE 9 help files, I should be able to move and resize the various IE 9 toolbars by clicking and draging on the "command bar separator" but this does not seem to work.

Need to restore missing MS Add-ons in MSIE (11)

I have lost the MS Add-ons on MS IE used to render XML so now, opening an XML document (with associated XSLT) does not present the transformed HTML but attempts to download the XML document. This works fine for another user on the same PC but I have tried various editions of IE without resolution.
When I access "Manage Add-ons", select Show "All Add-ons" and view the "Microsoft Corporation" section I only see three Add-ons as follows.
Research, Message Companion Helper and Windows Live ID Sign-in Helper.
Previously (and what I am trying to restore) there were many more Add-ons including some for XML, XSLT etc.
I started with IE 10 and lost the add-ins as a result of removing some malware. I removed IE 10 and re-installed IE 9 - no joy. Re-installed MS IE 10 - no joy. I am now running MS IE 11 but I still have the issue.
I suspect these Add-ons are not referenced in the IE configuration but located somewhere in the registry but a section that is not managed, but only used, by IE.

IE11 runnig in compability mode us GPO

Hi,

Does someone know if there is GPO setting that will force IE11 running on clients, to run in IE10 or IE9 compability mode?

A number of our clients have manually installed IE11 on their computers wich now prevents them from running a specific business application that runs in IE.

These users have to be local admins on their machines unfortionally so we can´t prevent them from installing updates.

There is a GPO that removes some links to WU/MU i know, but these are clever little users.

Thank you

Proxy PAC file not working on IE11

$

Hi,

I'll make this as brief as possible:

Installed IE11 on Windows 7 and Proxy PAC file does not work, however Google Chrome, which gets its proxy settings from IE, is using the PAC file just fine. My PC was able to use the PAC file on IE8 and IE10. The 'Use Automatic Configuration Script' option is ticket and the PAC file path entered in this format: File://C:/Windows/pacfilename.pac

Any ideas?

Thanks.
