Microsoft Edge in Windows 10. Policy setting for disabling Javascript is not present!

Question: Where is the setting "Allows you to run scripts, like JavaScript" ?

I have read in other posts that javascript in Microsoft Edge can be turned off by using the Local Group Policy Editor and drilling down to

Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Microsoft Edge and modifying the setting "Allows you to run scripts, like JavaScript"

My problem is that there is no such setting.

These are the settings that are shown in policy editor

cached proxy settings but unable to locate. IE11

Good afternoon,

My issue is simple but i just can't find the settings IE11. My company laptops do not work when outside the network. We use a web filter appliance 10.*.*.* and IE is supposed to be configured to auto-detect the proxy but i don't think it is. If i am outside the network and auto-detect is checked IE does not work. All other browser do. If i check use automatic configuration script and put a BS address it there IE gives me a page can not be displayed message and lists the proxy address and port. I have searched the Registry and can not find the address as a key.

So my question is where could the key be stored and is the a best practice for configuration of an on site proxy that does not prevent use when off site.

Use group policy to disable AutoComplete for browsing history, but not URL suggestions

I am configuring settings for a library computer lab with 45 domain-joined computers. They run Internet Explorer 11 and all automatically log in to a shared public domain account. I want to use a GPO (or GPP, or any tool that lets me achieve my goal for that matter) to disable AutoComplete for browsing history, but leave URL suggestions enabled. In other words, I want to be able to change the settings found in "Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete Settings" to have the "Browsing History" box unchecked, but I don't want to do it on each computer individually. The other settings there (e.g. Favorites) don't matter to me

All I have found is to disable AutoComplete completely in my GPO completely by disabling "Turn on inline AutoComplete" found in User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Settings\AutoComplete. This is less than ideal, because it also disables search suggestions from Bing, which will be a useful feature for the lab's users.

So my question is: can I disable browsing history autocompletion, but leave Bing search suggestions enabled without having to go and change the settings on each computer individually?

IE9 Crash on mshtml.dll - CElement::GetClientRect

I have a webpage using jQuery and Bootstrap. When I using Chrome, it works fine.

But when I using IE9 (Yea, for compatibility for other apps), it will crash after following actions:

  • Set certain objects to display: none / Add or remove elements
  • scroll the page

The problem is, I can't locate specific part of code which cause the problem.
And IE9 just give me a Internet Explorer has stopped working.

If I using Visual Studio to debug, it will show me this message:

Unhandled exception at 0x6365E8A2 (mshtml.dll) in iexplore.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000024

In the disassembly view, it stopped at CElement::GetClientRect -> test

CElement::GetClientRect:62E4E865  mov         edi,edi62E4E867  push        ebp62E4E868  mov         ebp,esp62E4E86Aand         esp,0FFFFFFF8h62E4E86Dsub         esp,1Ch62E4E870  mov         eax,dword ptr [___security_cookie (63619288h)]62E4E875  xor         eax,esp62E4E877  mov         dword ptr [esp+18h],eax62E4E87B  push        ebx62E4E87C  mov         ebx,dword ptr [ebp+8]62E4E87F  mov         dword ptr [ebx],062E4E885  mov         eax,dword ptr ds:[62F2260Ch]62E4E88A  push        esi62E4E88B  mov         dword ptr [ebx+4],eax62E4E88E  mov         esi,ecx62E4E890  mov         ecx,dword ptr ds:[62F22610h]62E4E896  mov         dword ptr [ebx+8],ecx62E4E899  mov         edx,dword ptr ds:[62F22614h]62E4E89F  mov         dword ptr [ebx+0Ch],edx62E4E8A2  test        dword ptr [esi+24h],4000h62E4E8A9  push        edi

I have tried to disable ALL CSS (In IE development tools -> disable -> CSS), the crash has stopped.
After that, I tried to disabled the bootstrap and the page custom CSS, but not successful.

I have tried to reset the IE setting, stop  the add-on, and no error on SFC.

Target
I would like to know is anyway I can debug the webpage, and found out which code or element crash the IE.

[P.S.]: I'm apologies that this may not appropriate, as I have posted the question in here and also in stackoverflow

For Windows 10 I am trying to set up a Kiosk Mode account. When I choose the account, and go to choose which app the account can access Internet Explorer isn't there. Is there going to be a fix where I can select the browser as an app for assigned access?

Web Shortcuts Don't Open From Desktop Since Anniversary Update (IE11)

Web shortcuts don't open from Desktop since Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

With Internet Explorer ‘Enhanced Protected Mode’ switched on, when a shortcut to a webpage is opened from the Desktop, the shortcut doesn’t open.  Internet Explorer just shows a blank window.

With Internet Explorer ‘Enhanced Protected Mode’ switched back off, the shortcuts open as expected.

Was OK before Anniversary Update, so something in the update breaks compatibility with Internet Explorer ‘Enhanced Protected Mode’.

IE11 on Windows 10 won't open Favorites when Favorites are redirected and Enhanced Protected Mode is enabled

When you click on a Favorite in Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 (1607), IE only opens a blank page.

We could narrow that problem down - it apparently only occurs if Favorites are redirected to a file share and Enhanced Protected Mode ist enabled.

It works fine in IE11 on Windows 7 though using the same configuration (redirected Favorites + Enhanced Protected Mode).

Saving .dotx template

I'm trying to save a .dotx word template being accessed from an internal Apache server using IE 11 but it changes the file type to a .docx.  Other browers (Chrome, Firefox) save the file as a .dotx.  Reviewing the web traffic I see that IE recognizes the file as a .dotx but I don't understand why it tries to save it as a .docx.  This was tested with machines both on\off our domain to rule out any type of GPO that may be causing this.  Any help/insight would be appreciated.

Windows 7 freeze and crash when open apps.

I have an ACER laptop with Windows 7 - 64 Bits.   Lately every time I try to play FARMVILLE CE on BLUESTACKS the computer crashed and freezes, the only solution to come out of it is to turn off the power button, since Ctrl + Alt + Delete is not working for me to stop the task.  The computer is also sluggish when I play other games through GAMEROOM or just on any BROWSER (Firefox or Chrome).   I already had done the "clean ram" procedure. Thanks in advance.

solutionbank requires internet explorer v6 or higher

Hi,

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 which uses Internet Explorer 11 and have been unable to use a CD-ROM (supplied in a textbook I bought) livetext program on which there are stored answers. I desperately need to use this as I have exams in about 2 months and am severely stressed so this is not helping at all since this is the only way I can check that I am doing my work correctly.

On my old computer with Windows Vista I was able to open the program successfully but with this version I am unable to. I have tried Mozilla, Firefox and Google Chrome but they too do not work and anyway I prefer to use Internet Explorer.

The program is an "Application (.exe)". Whenever I press the link to the livetext program (known as solutionbank) a message appears"solutionbank requires internet explorer v6 or higher".

I have checked the Microsoft forums for help but no one seems to know anything about the issue.

Thanks

IE11 on Windows 10 won't open Favorites when Favorites are redirected and Enhanced Protected Mode is enabled

I see tons of forums, discussions and a lot of people trying to find a solution for this and I DON'T SEE any solutions or real answers. Can someone or Microsoft support validate that this issue is in deed a Microsoft issue that has not been fixed? Or did I miss something somewhere that this was fixed? Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,

Hi guys,

Have an issue and ive searched and searched with no resolution ( maybe the words im using if there is a fix)

The issue a client is having is they need to be running 32 bit browser to run in order to use a check scanner with a local bank. when they try using IE11 it run 64 bit and will not run 32 bit no matter where you launch it from. Confirmed that enable protected mode is turned off as well. They can use google chrome eith a add on called IE tabs but it hasnt been playing nicely so would rather they use internet explorer if we can get it to run in a 32 bit mode. anyone have a suggestion on what else we can try

Thanks

Dan

Active X install error - mspert10.cab

Greetings,

I've noticed that internet explorer on Windows 10 is having issues with legacy software using Active X to run on IE.  I am having issues loading a HTML based piece of software that will run regardless if the install corrupts with a mspert10.cab certificate error.   What I need help with is, even after enabling Active X in Internet Security to load anything and everything the mspert10.cab error wont stop IE from prompting for an Active X software installation.  Is this a registry issue or a UAC issue?

Internet Explorer Proxy Exception - Syntax format for covering subdomains?

$

Hi.

Can anyone tell me the right format for a Proxy Exception to cover a domain with subdomains? There are several examples covering the use of wildcards - like this MS article:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd361953.aspx

The "Enter a wildcard at the beginning of an Internet address..." example does not cover the useage of subdomains :-(

a.b.c.microsoft.com

Do I use\ set the proxy exception to "*.*.*.microsoft.com" or is "*.microsoft.com" enough to cover all the a.b.c subdomains?

IE11 hanging at first screen

IE11 has suddenly stopped working at the first screen. When I call it up, I have 5 sites in my Home Page preferences. The tabs appear for each of these, together with the relevant first screen for each, but I can go nowhere from there ! In fact, the whole program is locked up and if I attempt to close IE11 down, the message appears asking if I want to close just the current tab or all tabs. The only way I can then close it is to use Task Manager to force a closure.

I've switched to using Edge, but have just learnt that Edge does not support add-ons like RoboForm, which I use to store and arrange my passwords.

I've checked that all my Microsoft updates are current.

Any advice, please, on how I can get IE11 working properly.

I have no sound fron the Internet. All other sound work properly (Window / Media Player, etc.)

I've explored all the other fixes listed, but to no avail. Even to the extent of reloading windows.

OS = Windows Vista / SP2

Dell XPS 630 (Svc Tag 9HDNZF1)

Firewall = Norton Internet Security 2012

IE = 9

Adobe Flash (current)

Java (current)

I've been trying all the KBs, forums and solicited solutions for 2 weeks and now I'm at my wits' end. Please assist.

Internet Explorer downloading/saving PDF rather than opening?

$

Hi there,

We are seeing quite a few users in our company getting a prompt to save the PDF they want to open, instead of it just opening. I can't find the setting to change this anywhere.

Does anyone know where the setting is or where the registry key is?

Also does anyone know how to disable the open confirmation prompt (orange bar along the bottom).

Thanks :)
